month-long festival ‘Benegal @ Work’

Launched in April 2004, Zee Classic is India’s only Hindi movie channel that shows films from the classic era of Hindi cinema. Benegal’s ‘Trikal’ captures the transition of Goa from being a Portuguese colony to a district governed by India. Liberally sprinkled with dashes of humor, this is a fast-paced comedy about a family and their friends who lived in Goa through this interesting phase of its evolution. On 25th January, catch ‘Bhumika – The Role’, a film broadly based on the memoirs of the well-known Marathi stage and screen actress of the 1940s, Hansa Wadkar who led a flamboyant and unconventional life … the film focuses on an individual’s search for identity and self-fulfillment. The immensely talented Smita Patil gave one of the most inspired performances of her career, transforming herself in its course from a vivacious teenage girl to a wiser but deeply wounded middle-aged woman. ‘Mandi’ is a satirical comedy on politics and prostitution. Based on a classic Urdu short story Aanandi by Pakistani writer Ghulam Abbas and starring acting heavyweights such as Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah and Smita Patil, it’s a must watch! Benegal’s ‘Nishant’ captures the tyrannical power-play of the high-handed Zamindars and brings you the struggle of a rape victim for justice when the perpetrators of her torment happen to hail from the Zamindar’s clan. Jaipur Literature Festival 2014

The seventh edition of the world’s largest free literary festival is set to bring some of the greatest thinkers and writers to the Pink City for five days of literary debates and discussions. This year, the festival features Pulitzer Prize winners, academics from the world’s leading universities, as well as authors shortlisted for this year’s Man Booker Prize and DSC Prize for South Asian Literature. As in past years, the annual Festival will also have live music sessions and interactive workshops.

Aamir is thankful to his fans in Punjab

Aamir was very nervous before the release of Dhoom.

The winters this year are very severe. The cold wave has slowed the everyday workings, especially in the northern belt. In various north cities like Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Jalandhar the mornings are very cold and there is heavy fog. Even the sun sets in early and the cold is almost biting.

Before the film released, Aamir was getting constant feedback from YRF and trade on how the weather could affect the film’s release.

The weather usually makes it difficult for the audiences to venture out.

However, the film got a fantastic response from the northern belt. The film opened in a big way and continued to soar at the box office.

Infact, the Punjab sector particularly has done extremely well. Even the early morning shows were more or less housefull.

Aamir is extremely thankful to his fans in Punjab who have despite extreme weather conditions have gone and watched the film.

The ace actor has been very keen to personally thank the audiences. He has actively been discussing this with his team and was also considering to visit Punjab.


Dhoom3 has created phenomenal records in India. What has come as a shock and received a stunned expression is Dhoom 3’s overseas numbers.

Overseas markets are not known to be Aamir Khan’s forte. This reality had changed when 3 Idiots had released, when 3 Idiots had become the highest collector in several international countries and set a benchmark.

But what has happened with YRF’s Dhoom3 internationally has made everyone speech less. Dhoom3 has crossed, broken all records and doubled almost all records and doesn’t seem to stop. It’s growing strong and continues at the box office.

In fact YRF is opening several countries come this Friday where no Hindi film has ever released.

Already YRF’s Dhoom 3 in overseas has collected box office collections till 7th Jan is US$ 25.39 Million (Rs.152.34 Cr) which is double of any other film.


Salman Khan is a phenomenal star and there is no doubt on his stardom. And an extension of his stardom is his iconic bracelet. It’s the actor’s signature style. His bracelet symbolizes everything that Salman Khan stands for.

However, its for the very first time that the actor’s bracelet has been used to introduce him in his forthcoming film Jai Ho. There is an entire sequence that has been created to introduce bracelet therefore Salman Khan. The trailer of the film starts with a close up shot of his bracelet symbolizing the actor’s actor. This very scene has created a strong buzz amongst the actor’s fan.

When asked Sohail, why the bracelet has been used to introduce Salman Khan in the film Jai Ho, prompt comes the response that when a viewer sees the bracelet he or she instantly think of Salman Khan.

After Being Human t shirts, his fans are crazy about his bracelet. In fact since no other actor wears it, the bracelet is undisputed Salman’s. Moreover this particular scene is set to create strong noise amongst the actor’s fan when it hits the silver screen.

The film is all set to hit theaters on 24th January 2014.
