ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival announces new Ojas Art Award for 2015

 

Mumbai, September 25 2014 – The ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival, the world’s largest free literary festival, today announced an exciting new art award presented in partnership with Delhi-based art organisation, Ojas Art.

 

The Ojas Art Award, a new annual fixture of the Festival, will be presented to two Indian artists and is worth Rs 51,000 and Rs 31,000 respectively. The award will also celebrate and encourage new artistic talent by providing a platform for the artists to showcase their work at ZEE JLF.

 

Known for its innovation and inclusive approach to the arts and artistic expression, the ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival has been working with Ojas Art for a number of years showcasing up-and-coming artist’s work at the Festival. The first edition of the Ojas Art Award will focus on Gond Art and is open for entries from today.

 

Sanjoy Roy, Producer of the ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival, said, “We have been working with Ojas Art for several years, presenting visual art to Festival goers at the ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival, and are excited to further our commitment to the arts today with the announcement of the Ojas Art Award. The award will provide a great platform for young artists to exhibit their work to the 2.5lakh visitors to the Festival, as well as a cash prize to help support their future work.”

 

Anubhav Nath, Director of Ojas Art, said, “This award will go a long way in recognizing talent and will surely provide an impetus to the tribal and traditional arts of India. The ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival has become a unique platform to showcase the best of Indian art to a large and international audience.
