(NYSE:DLB) and Yash Raj Films today announced the launch of the Blu-ray Disc™ version of the latest Yash Raj Films blockbuster movie, Ek Tha Tiger, starring Salman Khan. This is the first movie title on Blu-ray™ disc from India, to be released featuring Dolby TrueHD with advanced 96k upsampling and in 7.1 surround sound. The technology unlocks the full sonic potential of movie, television, and music content, further elevating playback performance of lossless audio on the Blu-ray Disc.

Dinesh Yadav, the first evicitee of Bigg Boss Season 6

After completing a week in the Bigg Boss house, Dinesh ‘Nirahua’ Yadav is the first contestant of Bigg Boss Season 6 to bid adieu. Coming from a different background and region, Dinesh was the quiet one in this house of strangers. The Bhojpuri star was convinced to sport his refreshing look without his trademark `Gamcha’.

Speaking on his exit, Dinesh said, “I want to thank Bigg Boss for this opportunity. I have learnt more in this week than I have in my entire life. A star-studded line-up for the penultimate round of JK Tyre-VW Polo R Cup

Chennai, October 12, 2012: Round 5 of the JK Tyre-VW Polo R Cup slated to be held on October 13 and 14, 2012 at the Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT) will witness an unprecedented star studded line-up. With the championship at a crucial junction the racers will be pretty charged and are certain to give it their all, in what is the penultimate round of the championship. Adding excitement to the already pulsating action on the track will be a flurry of stars and prodigies from the world of Indian motorsport.

This round of races will witness a bevy of guest drivers in action, including some of the biggest names from Indian motorsport, giving the emerging talent an opportunity to rub shoulders with the best in the business.

Following the tradition, to nurture and mentor young racing talent in the country, seventeen year old Ameya Bafna will get an opportunity to race in the JK Tyre-VW Polo R Cup. Ameya will be racing against none other than Armaan Ebrahim, the only Indian to race in the FIA GT1 World Championship, Akhil Khushlani who created history by winning the JK Racing in Silverstone, Vishnu Prasad, 2011 JK Tyre-VW Polo R Cup champion. Karting in the Senior Max class, Bafna beat former champion Chittesh Mandody to take the crown at the recently concluded JK Tyre Rotax Max National Karting Championship 2012.

Not to forget, the current leader on board veteran racer Ameya Walwalkar is going to be a tough competition on the grid alongside Diego Duez- winner of the 24 Hours of Mexico endurance race and Gran Tourismo Turbo (GTT) winner from Mexico and others.

Topping the leader board at this stage with 272 points, Mumbai lad Ameya Walavalkar undoubtedly is in the zone. Having started slowly in the season, Walavalkar has gathered pace, finishing on the podium in 5 of the 8 races held so far. He won the first race in the previous round but ran into bad weather to finish sixth in the second, yet managed to hold on to his leadership position. Keeping Walavalkar company in second position is Chennai’s Sandeep Kumar on 246 points. There is an interesting battle brewing for the third spot, a three way battle between Avdumber Hede on 209 points followed by Rahil Noorani and Mihir Dharkar on 199 and 196 points respectively.

This race weekend will give the perfect opportunity to drivers like Akhil Khushlani, Vishnu Prasad, and Sandeep Kumar to hone their racing prowess and gear up for the JK Racing Asia Series scheduled as a support race to Indian Grand Prix and prove their mettle in the home turf.

The qualifying race for Round 5 of the JK Tyre-VW Polo R Cup will be held on Saturday, October 13 followed by two races on Sunday. If racing for the title is not enough for the drivers to set the race track on fire, competing alongside stars like Armaan Ebrahim and Akhil Khushlani surely will, either ways the race weekend promises nothing but the best!

Battle lines drawn for penultimate round of 15th JK Tyre-FMSCI National Racing Championship

~Round 5 of the Championship to be held at the Madras Motor Race Track on October 13-14, 2012~

Chennai, October 12, 2012: The 15th JK Tyre-FMSCI National Racing Championship has so far witnessed four rounds of intense racing and with the championship still wide open, the penultimate round scheduled at the Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT) at Sriperumbudur in Chennai on October 13 and 14, 2012 promises to be a thriller. Over the years, the JK Tyre-FMSCI National Racing Championship has become the most coveted racing title in the country. The championship has produced some of the top racing talents in the country including Narain Karthikeyan, Karun Chandhok, Armaan Ebrahim and Aditya Patel; all of whom have gone to become drivers of international repute.

Mumbai driver Ameya Walavalkar, racing in the JK Tyre-VW Polo R Cup has been in sublime form this season had mixed fortunes in the previous round. Walavalkar finished Race 1 on top, but faltered in the second. Chennai’s Sandeep Kumar, who is keeping Walavalkar company in second position in the overall championship standings, made the best of this situation to finish first in Race 2 and second in Race 1. With 246 points, Sandeep Kumar is within striking distance of Walavalkar who leads the championship with 272 points. For the third spot, there is an interesting three way battle taking shape, with Avdumber Hede on 209 points getting a run for his money from Rahil Noorani (199 points) and Mihir Dharkar (196 points).

The new Formula LGB 4 class introduced in Round 2 of the championship has thus far provided all the excitement associated with single seater racing. After having missed out in Round 1 of the category, Chennai lad Ashwin Sundar hasn’t looked back finishing first in three and second in two races that have happened since. This reflects on Sundar’s championship standing, with 111 points he is sitting on top of the table followed by another Chennai driver Saran Vikram on 86 points and Bangalore based Sudarshan Rao on 78 points. While Sundar will look to continue his good form during the race weekend, Saran, who has won two earlier races including one in the last round, will be keen to prove his mettle on the track.

The Indian Touring Cars class, which has a selection of some emerging and some well established names from Indian motorsport, has former rally champion Arjun Balu racing from Tiger Sports leading the pack with 118 points. A disappointing previous round cost V Rajvirdhan his championship standing, despite which he stands second with 93 points, followed by the veteran N Leelakrishnan on 81 points. While Balu has won his three previous races and would continue what he has been doing through the forthcoming race weekend, Rajvirdhan would hope to put behind him the previous round and get back to his winning ways to regain the top position in the championship.

The top spot in the Indian Junior Touring Cars class has the closest fight among all the race classes in the championship. One point separates the top two spots with Mumbai’s Fahad Kutty on 137 points followed by Chennai based Feroze Khan on 136 points. In the previous round, Kutty had to retire in the first race due to engine trouble, however he showed his class in the second race, finishing fourth after starting from the back of the grid. Taking advantage of the situation, Khan put in a stellar performance to complete a double by winning both the races, putting him within one point of the table topper. While the contest for the top spot heats up, Trichur based Diljith TS has been delivering consistent performances through the season clocking six podium finishes in eight races, with 115 points under his belt and two rounds to go he has more than an outside chance for the championship.

The qualifying races for all the four categories will be held on Saturday, October 13 followed by two races of the Formula LGB 4 and one race each of Indian Touring Car class and Indian Junior Touring Car Class. Sunday will witness action in two races of JK Tyre – VW Polo R Cup, one race in the Formula LGB 4 class and second races of the Indian Touring Car and Indian Junior Touring Car classes.

With just one round to go after the forthcoming race weekend, the leaders would look to consolidate their positions while the contenders would give it their all to stay in contention for the most prestigious racing title in the country. Round 4 promises a very action-packed and pulsating set of races!

This year Indian cinema turns 100 years old. ‘Bigg Boss 6 can’t escape controversy!’

Having handled the media for maximum celebrities who have participated on Bigg Boss, Bollywood PR guru Dale Bhagwagar is known in media circles as a specialist on the subject.

This week, he has predicted that Bigg Boss 6 won’t be able to escape controversy. “Bigg Boss has always been about drama and eyeballs, and I don’t think that part will change. I guess, I can even bet on it. I will change my name if there are no controversies,” Dale quips as he laughs!

MAHINDRA RACING TO GUN FOR ITALIAN NATIONAL MOTORCYCLE RACING CHAMPIONSHIP (CIV) 2012 ‘CONSTRUCTORS TITLE’

Friday, 12th October , 2012: Mahindra Racing, the first Indian team to compete in the Italian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (CIV), is all set to gun for the Constructors Title in the event’s 125GP category. The final race of the season is scheduled to take place at the Vallelunga Circuit in Italy this Sunday, October 14, 2012.

The team is assured of the Constructors Champion title even if Mahindra Racing is placed second in the race. This win and the consequent Championship victory would be a historic achievement for the first Indian manufacturer backed motorcycle racing team that made its CIV debut in 2012. Currently in the Constructors rankings, Mahindra Racing is placed at the top of the table with a narrow 5 point lead over Aprilia.

In the CIV in Italy, Mahindra Racing teamed up with Riccardo Moretti and Czech rider Miroslav Popov in the 125 GP Class. The team became the first from India to win an international motorsport event when Riccardo took the chequered flag at the season-opening race in Mugello, Italy on 25 March, 2012. Team Mahindra Racing has won 5 out of the 7 races so far in the championship with 2 spectacular double podiums.

Mahindra rider Riccardo Moretti is also poised to win the second place in the Riders Classification for the championship. He has already secured five podiums so far in the seven rounds of the season.

Reema Sharma: “Auto/Taxi drivers are fleecing Mumbai”

Actress and model Reema Sharma who posed stark naked for Newz88 and the Mumbai Citizens Action Forum in a controversial protest campaign defended her means and method saying it is a novel method of protest to attract maximum attention of the authorities and the public at large. “We do not have huge budgets for conventional media campaigns. Why don’t you consider the cause? This is not just a publicity stunt. Models and actors across the world have posed nude for PETA. Newz88 is trying to create awareness about the fact that the common man in Mumbai is fleeced and held to ransom daily. Some persons in the media have criticized my act saying ‘I am a wannabe and who knows me’. I say who the f**k knows you. I have not posed nude for my own publicity but for the cause that I stand for. Do you realise that you are being conned and cheated almost every time you travel in an auto rickshaw in Mumbai as over 70 per cent of the old mechanical meters are tampered and show hugely inflated fares. The other auto meters which are not tampered are genuinely faulty and tend to “jump”. The new electronic meters are not calibrated with the new fares and the drives have been charging arbitrarily. What do you expect me to do? Go on a hunger strike like Annaji at Churchgate station? If posing nude does not help the cause, then will a hunger strike really help?”

On Thursday the day the new auto and taxi fares came into effect in an arbitrary, haphazard and hurried manner, the Mumbai chapter of the Citizens Action Forum and Newz88 launched a novel protest against the arbitrary fare hike of auto rickshaws and taxis in Mumbai. They roped in well-known model and actress Reema Sharma to pose in the buff for a photo shoot. Says Reema, “I was approached by Newz88 to do a bold shoot for an awareness campaign against the large number of tampered fare meters in use by taxis and auto rickshaws in Mumbai. I have absolutely no qualms about posing nude for this shoot as it is a major issue, affecting lakhs of commuters and passengers in Mumbai with a few thousand auto and taxi drivers holding the entire city to ransom with their threats to go on strike.” Reema Sharma has done 3 films in the south and has recently signed on a Tamil film in the main lead. She is also seen in several print and TV commercials.

A press release from Newz88 says, “According to unofficial yet reliable figures, over 50 per cent of the old mechanical auto rickshaw meters and about 30 per cent of taxi meters are tampered, resulting in highly inflated fares. Auto drivers also use fake tariff cards to con passengers. These practices are completely illegal and commuters are royally fleeced by the rogue drivers who also refuse to ferry passengers over short distances. Many drivers use the older meters which are very unreliable and tend to “jump”. Even the electronic meters in use are not calibrated with the latest fare structure and auto drivers use their own “discretion” to charge customers. The new fare has come into effect from 11th October, but auto and taxi meters are not calibrated with the new structure. Drivers – most of them who have not yet understood the structure are arbitrarily charging consumers who are being fleeced en masse.

The Citizens Action Forum in association with Newz88 has planned a series of protests including a Slut Walk March against what it terms “arbitrary discretion” of the Transport Authority, State Government and the arrogant auto and taxi drivers. The consumer or passenger has no discretion or say in this matter.
