Himalayan Presented the Ethereal Timeless Collection of Wendell Rodricks to End Day Two at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Mumbai, Saturday, August 4, 2012: From Wendell Rodricks, it was an ethereal collection called “Timeless” presented by Himalayan that enthralled the audience during the final show on Day Two at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012.

Inspired by a variety of ideas, which were unconventional – like the zero, the sari, kurta, dhoti, and drapes of Indian garments – Wendell selected colours that have been his favourite. White, black, grey, gold, skin, cranberry, brown were blended skilfully with bright hues of fuchsia, saffron, deep orange, sun yellow and ice glacial water.

Seven shimmering abstract shapes hung from the ceiling of the grand Ballroom at the Hotel Grand Hyatt to denote suspended water bodies; while the blue ramp extended amongst the bright ramp lights.

Dividing the show into four segments, Wendell displayed his prowess over innovative construction for the 44 garments. Opening the display with the “Circles and Indian Geometry” section, the black crepe silk tunic looped to create pockets, the combo of peacock satin long line tie-up choli, yellow skirt, grey kurta, multi kali waistcoat and striking Dupatta were dramatic entries. Men’s wear was a black satin silk unisex shirt with a square cut dhoti. Detailing was discreet in its shimmer as felt, pearls and sequins embroidery blended beautifully with the fabrics.

For the “Arcs and Loops” segment, Wendell opened with a white linen kurta, slim trousers and silk organza waistcoat for men. Here the designer was partial only to white linen and silk for some of the interesting entries like the scooped one-shoulder tunic, asymmetrical top teamed with satin sharara trousers and crepe tunic with rose petal organza neckline. The delicately striking piping on the shawls, square silk organza shrugs and bias tunics, highlighted the beauty of the fluid flowing creations.

When it came to the section “Western Neutrals in Kurta Avatars”, Wendell kept the colours muted for grey dolman sleeve kurta, a sailor collar trapeze version and the very imaginative combo of poncho with sari inspired hem, matched with saffron satin trousers. Men’s wear was in berry brown for crepe lungi with a saffron, sunshine yellow and raani border, while the kali long waistcoat and looped shawl edged in satin silk was a dramatic vision of colour, cut and style.

Finally it was the “Himalayan Red Carpet” collection with stunning colours, combinations and sexy silhouettes that ended the show on a high note. The satin pleated cape gown, backless kaftan in raani pink silk and the very sexy black Lycra choli-sari fusion vision with multi coloured Patti detailing set the pace for the finale section. The crepe silk maxi with peacock blue ribbon trails and the georgette sari-gown with twisted décolleté and sari pallav drape created dramatic magic. The square cut cowl dhoti worn with a peacock blue edged sherwani on the male model, gave a unique style statement for the masculine wardrobe.

Mention has to be made of the lovely pink, saffron and yellow ankle strap shoes with silver stilettos which matched the mood of the show.

To a standing ovation from the wildly applauding audience, Himalayan presented a sensational fusion of Indian fashion sensibilities, which were juxtaposed very imaginatively by Wendell Rodricks for his “Timeless” line that will appeal to the stylish fashion followers around the world.

TRESemmé Presented the Trendy Very Urban Collection by Priyadarshini Rao at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Mumbai, Saturday, August 4, 2012: It was a show with trendy and fashionable style directions for a woman’s crowning glory as well as her sartorial preferences. TRESemmé, the global hair care brand presented the luxury prét “Chair-Worthy Collection” by Priyadarshini Rao at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 to a delighted audience.

Featuring seven glamorous hairdos by Dharmesh (Dodo) Hingorani, the audience was taken on an interesting journey of fashion and style as lustrous shiny hair, sleek up-dos, vibrant curls, elaborate creations, gorgeous plaits and intricate braids, some interspersed with ribbons were teamed with Priyadarshini’s creative fashion stories.

Six giant mirrors were suspended dramatically at an angle from the ceiling. The mirror covered backdrop and the black acrylic ramp were the perfect setting for the show, which opened with Avantika Akerkar of the Vagina Monologue fame. She recited the Chair-Worthy Manifesto by Mahda Del Valle on how gorgeous hair days can spark fire in a woman’s life.

Seven creative looks gave the urban fashionista many options. Colours were a vibrant fuchsia, aubergine and turquoise for sheer chiffons, cottons, silks that were cleverly turned into hand embroidered pinafores, maxis and skirts.

For a segment, Priyadarshini matched the looks of the crowning glory with stylish peplum jackets in deep hues of black, tarnished charcoal; brocades with intricately worked long lean tunics and quirky pants along with taffeta trenches and hep minis.

Net skirts swished down the catwalk, bias belted jackets, black chiffon tiered covers, angarkha mini tops, drop crotch salwars, horizontal panelled brocade maxis and crinkle pants with kimono top, were a perfect match for the clever hair styling.

Pinafores were richly embroidered, and long dresses swirled with seamed panels. Trapeze embroidered smocks – some with bubble hemlines, printed tiered long covers, 3D floral appliqués and tiered blouson gowns, gave colourful variety to the collection. Prints came in Indian motifs, multi colours and interesting fabric options.

Many of the rich brocades for the vegetable printed trapeze jackets and maxis held the attention of the audience. For the final look of the dramatic evening entry, Priyadarshini brought in bits of ecru with gold for layered shapes and lots of sheen for fluid pants, blouses and flowing tops.

For the trendy urban woman, who loves experimenting with her hair styles, as well as her wardrobe options; Priyadarshini Rao’s collection presented by TRESemmé had the right head to toe choices.

Sonaakshi Raaj, Neha Sharma, Sapna Bhavnani and Sukriti Grover Presented Innovative Looks at Usha Talent Box During Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Sonaakshi Raaj Created the Glamour of Style at Usha Talent Box

Mumbai, Saturday, August 4, 2012: Sonaakshi Raaj teased and tantalised all, with her collection titled “Old Cinema Glamour” inspired from old Hollywood films.

The collection showcased regal formal wear comprising glamorous gowns and cocktail dresses with the silhouettes being a ravishing blend of feminine flow with sleek structure.

With a colour palette boasting nude shades such as blush, ivory, and charcoal, in luxurious materials such as organza, tulle, as well as other sheer fabrics, the designer infused free flowing forms with tight bodices sporting rich, elegant floral work; while cut out backs added a dash of oomph.

Some pieces also ranged from crisp collared tops to flouncy, flirty skirts; thus further elevating the soft, sensuous appeal of this range.

Keeping it simple, the pieces did not flaunt any hard embellishments, focusing on the beautiful paradox of simplicity within careful construction.

Not afraid to add an experimental touch, Sonaakshi Raaj stirred things up with a refreshing red hot dress with graceful sleeves.

Ethereal and timeless, this collection is sure to have you smitten.

Neha Sharma Showed Her Creativity for a Wearable Collection at Usha Talent Box

Neha Sharma showcased an enticing collection titled “Jambalaya on the Bayou” under her label, ‘The Jade Tree’.

The range showcased regal, rich pieces most of which were stand alone statement pieces that included an array of necklaces, bejewelled sleek belts, earrings and brooches.

A range of stones cut in different patterns and colours, ranged from shades of orange, blue and white were artistically placed on rich velvet, all tied up at the back with a vibrant coloured bow.

Most of the pieces were asymmetrically cut, allowing for the casual and gradual ‘branching out’ of the embellishments to give each a surreal, naturalistic appeal.

Two of the most notable design features were black gold outlined 3D flowers, as well as a statement piece comprising long gold tentacle-like protrusions.

With her enigmatic and bold collection, Neha Sharma truly showed us that sometimes it’s not just your outfit that does all the talking but these wonderful crown jewels!

Sapna Bhavnani and Sukriti Grover Displayed Unconventional Fashion Directions at Usha Talent Box

Sofake intrigues and shocks all with its new collection titled, ‘Black Velvet’. A take on a controversial topic –that of fairness creams, the designers Sapna Bhavani and Sukriti Grover made a strong and bold statement, ‘Black is beautiful so embrace it’.

The all black collection comprised intriguing black on black prints incorporated on structured forms. Power shoulder jumpsuits and vixen dresses were some of the pieces which helped project the mood of the collection – mysterious, daring, beautiful and dangerous.

Fabrics such as silk, velvet and jacquard helped build the sleek and structured bodies, accentuated by simple metal detailing such as eyelets and cut outs.

Use of see-through fabric helped to add a feminine touch to the range while a cape-like top injected an experimental spark.

One of the most striking features of the collection was its distinct blend of Victorian prints with Asian concepts such as the Obe-belt.

Edgy, feisty and yet sophisticated this collection by Sapna Bhavnani and Sukriti Grover is for a diva who likes to make a statement.

Sannam Chopra and Sandhya Garg Gave Fashion Diverse Directions at Usha Talent Box Lakmé during Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Sannam Chopra’s Accessory Collection Was A Visual Feast For The Eyes At Usha Talent Box

Mumbai, Saturday, August 4, 2012: Chopra plays with a unique concept for her collection titled ‘Medieval Pop’ which focused on the unusual concept involving a story and set in the medieval times, when men would joust as a way to garner honour.

Amidst the crowd, there lies a beautiful woman, somewhat amused and intrigued she envisions herself in their attire with an added feminine touch.

The range showcased a number of accessories such as bags, necklaces, cuffs and hair accessories.

Set in regal Swarovski crystals along with imposing large stones the pieces were tastefully bold and large, accentuated by gold chords as well as silver tassels.

Another notable feature of the collection was the extensive use of coloured leather pieces reminiscent of protection gear, unlike her previous collections which relied heavily on metal work.

The range was feminine, sparkly as well as structured with geometrical shapes, adding a controlled edge in colours such as pink, green, turquoise, black and flesh tones.

Adding a hint of variation some pieces even sported butterflies, bows and leaves. All about strong forms, accentuated by feminine concepts this collection by Sannam Chopra is sure to be a favourite for any cocktail party goer.

Sandhya Garg Presented a Timeless Collection at Usha Talent Box

Inspired by the 1920’s art deco movement, Sandhya Garg’s debut collection was simply electrifying.

Using fabrics such as georgette, chiffon, lace and other easy and feminine materials, the designer worked more on the fine detailing of each piece, treating them like a work of art in their own right.

Youthful, Sandhya Garg’s collection stuck to ongoing trends such as colour blocking and making use of solid pops of colour such as blue, orange, yellow, purple as well as black and grey, which made this range bordering on experimental and yet commercially viable.

The collection comprised blouses, pants, shirts, skirts as well as dresses with the silhouettes being soft yet structured, crisp and clean.

With a concept of 3D embroidery, sequins, feathers, studs as well as specially created metal embellishments in gold and silver, were coupled with leather cutwork detailing, which added a unique trendy touch.

Preppy-chic with a glam industrial look this collection is sure to fly off the racks.

Babita Malkani and Drashta Sarvaiya Added Style and Glamour to their Collections for Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Babita Malkani’s Urbane Nomad-Ism Collection had a Fashionable Bohemian Touch at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Mumbai, Saturday, August 4, 2012: For bohemian fashionable chic, Babita Malkani presented her stylish collection called “Urbane Nomad-ism” at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012.

Bringing her unconventional styling details for the asymmetric dresses, maxis, throws, fusion wear and saris, Babita was inspired by the raw earthiness of the African Bushmen of Tanzania and Zanzibar.

To the foot tapping pulsating beats of live music by Anand Bhagat playing the African djimbe on the Australian Didgeridoo; Babita unleashed a kaleidoscope of creations that were a veritable feast for the eyes.

The beautiful colours of the region were reflected in her creations as tangerine, aqua, deep blue, matte brown, blush and sap green came together in harmony with the varied dyeing techniques.

Texturing was dramatic with pattern rope dyeing, corded tie dye and bottle beach dye to recreate the effect of digital prints. Using luxe fabrics like Habutai silk, crepe, georgettes and silk wool the designer turned them into visually dramatic garments.

Draped togas, one shoulder asymmetric sheaths, wrap slit skirts, drop crotch jumpsuits, fluid dhoti pants, layered poncho dresses, looped tubes, pleated palazzos, frayed hem shorts, indigo matted thread borders for gowns, cascading ruffles for midis and African patchwork appliqués for dress and gilets scorched the ramp. The matted basket weave thread and fabric detailing which edged the gowns, midis, saris and drapes further created the exotic African mood for the creations, while turbans, chunky jewellery, boots and fringed stilettos were the ideal accessories for the ensembles.

For that great fashion impact, Babita Malkani’s collection “Urbane Nomad-ism” will create the perfect sartorial picture for any woman.

Inspirations from Gustav Klimt gave Drashta Sarvaiya’s Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 Collection an Artistic Touch

With Gustav Klimt’s paintings as her inspiration, Drashta Sarvaiya’s collection for Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 was an elegant classic offering. With shades of white, nude, yellow, and mauve combined with purple, peach and blue, Drashta worked on draped garments to achieve a fluid look. Using light weight brocade with delicate floral motifs and adding double georgettes and crepe; Drashta’s accent was on the peplum as the focal point of the garments, which appeared periodically to highlight the silhouettes. The dresses, trousers, tunics, shirts and skirts glittered with crystal, gold and floral raffia work.

Opening the show with a white silk layered crepe tunic with matching trousers, Drashta proved her versatility with construction and detailing for the utterly feminine garments. The rich embroidered raffia brocade skirt, off shoulder dress, panelled trousers, pleated gowns and layered chiffon floor length ensembles told a creative story that revealed Drashta’s skills in designing.

Using the peplum in the most innovative manner Drashta worked it into trousers, dresses, jumpsuits, skirts to add a flirty touch to the collection. Pleating was used elaborately but at times restricted to just the sides or the front of dresses and tops.

For a stylish contemporary western look, Drashta Sarvaiya’s artistically inspired line had a global appeal.

Aartivijay Gupta, Nikhil Thampi, Sidharta Aryan and Yogesh Chaudhary Presented a Variety of Looks at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

AARTIVIJAY GUPTA CREATED A BLACK AND WHITE FANTASY AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2012

Mumbai, Saturday, August 4, 2012: With white as her backdrop and black doodle sketches high lighting her garments, Aartivijay Gupta created a black and white fantasy at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 called “I Love Ma Doodle Book”.

The pure white line-up of Dupion and tabby silk, along with luxurious crepe was used imaginatively for shift dresses with sketches of faces and figure blocks. Panelled jackets with dramatic godets, a jumpsuit, constructed jacket with black figures and flowing pants had a feminine look.

The clever play of black and white also came alive for sharply cut jackets with wide notched lapels, slender long sleeve sheaths cinched with black Obe style belts, tunics, slender pants, kimono style covers some with strategically placed tucks or pleats and asymmetric bias cut hems. The final three saris brought in colour with the doodles featuring colour wheels or shade cards print and were worn with floppy blouses.

The two men’s wear entries followed the same print story for the jacket with peaked lapels, double vents and the smart bundgala coat.

It was a stylish versatile line with a distinct identity from Aartivijay Gupta, which will appeal to the fashion conscious buyers.

NIKHIL THAMPI’S COLLECTION TITLED SURVIVORS WAS A PERFECT BALANCE OF FASHION AND STYLE AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2012

Inspired by the many survivors on the globe, Nikhil Thampi celebrated their victory with his unusually titled collection “Survivors” at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012.

The garments were a study of balanced construction, as styled tops and cholis, which floated down the ramp, were teamed with crushed silk draped maxi skirts. Embellishments were metallic, as chains, plates and ‘salli’ work were seen creatively on the garments. The silhouettes were fluid and flared with earthy tones like black, green, brown and rust playing a rustic melody. Fabrics that brought the theme to life moved from velvets or suede to ombré silk and cotton.

Striking entries were the sheer black kurta, the side belted jacket and the black velvet sherwani with a slit back all created for the adventurous man.

Crinkle silk was used lavishly for the fluid skirts, while velvet appeared for stylish one shoulder togas, draped gowns, two tone cholis and long lean kurtas. An interesting innovation was the chain mail halter corset held together with leather straps.

Here was a collection that will appeal to the strong daring women and men of the 21st century, as Nikhil Thampi dresses them in his “Survivor” creations.

SIDHARTA ARYAN’S COLLECTION WAS A FASHIONABLE PRESENTATION FOR THE GLOBAL WOMEN AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2012

Keeping in mind the modern global women, Sidharta Aryan’s Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 collection called “Wanderlust” was a perfect prét offering. Bringing in vintage Indian touches for a luxurious feminine line, Sidharta showed a range of versatile creations that can progress from day to evening and then even festive wear. With prints as the focal point, the inspirations were from Indian art and architecture which added to the creative style of the garments.

The images ranged from paintings of Rajasthan, Mughal Jharoka, temple jewellery of the South, blue prints of the Chalukya dynasty, Victorian influences, and streets of Lucknow, which were juxtaposed cleverly on fluid fabrics for the garments.

Dividing the collection into separates and festive styles, Sidharta’s versions of the shirt dresses, jackets, pretty dresses for day wear and the lehengas, anarkalis and saris for bridal and festive clothing had a marked contemporary touch with four prints versions. With faux georgette, silk, crepe, jersey and lace, the designer ensured that the garments were all ‘wash and wear’ for the convenience of the jet setting Indian woman.

It was slinky women’s wear as drop waist dresses, cropped jackets, ghagras, skirts, and the scooped back dresses glided down the ramp. The solitary sari matched the theme with its colours and prints and the three lehenga sets had a marked western touch with body hugging panelled silhouettes which were teamed with peplum tops or lace jackets

With immaculate construction and intricate detailing, Sidharta Aryan ensured that the “Wanderlust” look will appeal to an international clientele.

YOGESH CHAUDHARY RECREATED THE FASHION OF THE AMERICAN RETRO ERA AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2012

Giving his collection an unconventional title “Miss Pac-in District”, Yogesh Chaudhary recreated the fashion of the American Retro era bringing in hints of the 20’s, 50’s and 80’s fashion moments at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012.

Going for a colour palette starting with cherry red, then onto canary yellow and electric blue, Yogesh’s prints were inspired by the Ms Pac-man game. Block printing, beadwork, digital printing and knitted jacquards highlighted the wonderful line of separates that included skirts, Tees, trousers, jackets, blouses, trenches, saris and even swim wear. Adding on a range of knitted dresses and cardigans, Yogesh ensured that the silhouettes were lean, sexy but trendy. A hint of gold gotta work gave interesting touches to the sari made from the Maheshwari fabric which was given unconventional treatment.

The Pac man print appeared in varied colours and added a quirky touch to the jumpsuits and dresses. Giving a new twist to the sari and choli combo, Yogesh had three entries with two tone prints and teamed them with comfy loose blouson style jersey blouses. The overall look represented relaxed fun wear, which had large doses of innovative styling.

Bringing forth a clever mix of Indian and western embellishments, inspirations and retro prints, Yogesh Chaudhary created his distinct individualistic trend for the Winter/Festive 2012 season.

Nimish Shah, Payal Khandwala and Roma Narsinghani Showed Their Stunning Collections at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Nimish Shah‘S Classic Designs had Off-Beat Detailing at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Mumbai, Saturday, August 4, 2012: Bringing to the forefront simple separates, Nimish Shah’s collection had expert off-beat detailing at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012.

Cleverly blending oversized baggy shapes with lean silhouettes, Nimish used great fabrics like organic cotton, khadi, wool and silk along with romantic touches of chiffon and crépe de chine with interesting discreet geometric and abstract prints.

The inspiration was the retro fashion advertisements that urged the designer to create the feminine midis, softly constructed jackets, some skirt suits and hand knits. The highlights of the show were the shawls and cable knit mufflers, as well as the mini sweaters, the overlapping brown skirt, the white pin tucked blouse, drop waist dress and the long sleeve cropped tops. The soft jackets were teamed with sleek skirts and the mosaic print blouse was ideal day wear. The perma pleated mustard skirt dress, the black and white knit cardigan worn with fitted pants and the blouse was a great combination. The colours were deep and dramatic as brown, burgundy and mustard added chic touches to the garments with matching wedge shoes in black, brown and burgundy.

For clothes that speak a language all their own, Nimish Shah’s collection for his label Shift tells a great fashion story.

Payal Khandwala Presented an Unconventional Fashionably Contradicting Collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Payal Khandwala called her collection the “Sadhu and the Samurai” which was a truly dramatic title for her creations at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Fashion 2012.

It was a line of layered, draped and wrapped separates, which Payal has turned into her trademark designs. The colours reflected the theme of the garments, as burnt orange, crimson and ochre played an almost spiritual fashion melody with coffee, charcoal, bronze and indigo. Keeping the silhouettes relaxed, Payal used rich fabrics for the fluid lines that combined the contradictions of form and style beautifully.

The machined collars and belts, the samurai wrap skirts, cowled shifts with looped pockets, the bias shoulder draped tops and the wide fluid pants were layered to perfection. The angular green/blue cropped jacket, the long pleated midi teamed with a flowing long bolero, the cowled pockets that discreetly emerged from the folds of the garments, skirts with draped tucks and panel pockets were totally unconventional in construction, yet very avant garde in form and appearance.

For an almost Zen like collection, Payal Khandwala’s look will appeal to the unconventional dresser.

Roma Narsinghani Presented a Chic Global Fashion Offering at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

It was the “Dream Catcher” collection inspired by the poem of the same name that Roma Narsinghani presented at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012.

Staying true to her fashion philosophy that “God is in the Details”, Roma ensured that the collection was replete with intricate additions and fluid ethereal shapes. Pastels came to centre stage with aqua as a favoured colour followed by soft beige, grey and touches of nude. Layering, pleating, panelling and draping along with clever fabric construction was the highlight of each garment. Shell buttons replaced traditional embroidery to bring a soft dazzle to the surface embellishments.

Playing with fabrics and embellishments, Roma created mesh like covers and added on origami touches for the faux boleros and the intricately braided waistcoats. The shirts with long sleeves and back drapes, the two tone halter maxi, the bronze satin shirt with rear frill and sleeve detailing, the lattice weave apron like covers, the patched tunics, one shoulder ballooning blouse and the angular dusty green jacket were beautiful additions to the collection.

Fluid easy silhouettes were the high point of the display, making the “Dream Catcher” collection by Roma Narsinghani a magical addition to the global woman’s wardrobe.

Siddharth Mallya Walked the Ramp for Komal Sood’s Twilight Seduction Collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Mumbai, Saturday, August 4, 2012The dashingly handsome and suave, Siddharth Mallya, wearing a black tuxedo with satin peaked lapels and tonal embroidered shoulder detailing, was the show stopper for Komal Sood’s luxurious demi couture collection, titled “The Twilight Seduction” at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012.

Using the colour tones of the romantic sunsets and adding shades of crimson, striking violet, wine and black, Komal revealed garments that can stand the test of time. Fluid and sexy fabrics like silks, georgettes, satins, blends of Polynosics and knits gave a rich feel to the draped creations. The intricate embellishments for the garments added that exotic touch of feminine charm and great craftsmanship.

Opening the show with a sexy red sequinned bikini top, black shimmering leggings and a purple silk sari, the mood was set for a show of ultra glamour. Strictly aimed at the cocktail circuit dresser, the violet front cascade halter dress, black Grecian chiffon gown, the Bandage inspired purple/gold beaded dress and the rouched satin sheath were slinky and seductive.

Rhinestones played an important role as their glitter highlighted the straps that snaked across shoulders and bare backs. The stunners that took the audience’s breath away were the lace corset black front rouched gown, the violet sheeting maxi with chiffon ruffles and the black satin halter floor length creation topped with a glitzy beaded jacket.

More glittering gowns floated down the ramp in shades of ombré wine sequins, an arrestingly beautiful red long tube with feathered hem and a regal red floor length ensemble.

Two men’s wear entries – an ink blue velvet jacket and a brocade waistcoat worn with a mandarin collar white shirt, added a masculine touch to the collection.

For a celeb circuit wardrobe, Komal Sood’s “Twilight Seduction” collection will make a dramatic entry.

Glamour Came Alive on the Ramp with a Gorgeous Collection by Pernia Qureshi at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

From chic evening and club wear, Pernia added occasion wear and one solitary sari which was pre-pleated and teamed with a shirt collar blouse. Drop waist shifts, cigarette pants, knee length sheaths, beaded sleek dresses, Grecian silhouettes – the collection’s look was pure drama. The bead work for the dresses was exquisite and inspired by the expert royal couturier Norman Hartnell, while the colour palette was regal with cobalt, champagne, gold, wine and black with touches of mustard that added to the grandeur. Fabrics ranged from luxe silks, chiffons, net and satin.

Pencil skirts in black net over yellow lining, sun yellow drop waist dress, crepe front button slim skirts, double-breast dress with peek-a-boo shoulders, flapper black lace mini; blue peplum top and black brocade pants were some of the exciting pieces in the collection. The black organza sheer boleros and velvet one-shoulder dress were sexy additions to the line. Over sized buttons, embroidered shoulder interest and the use of sheer over opaque gave the creations a stylish regal touch.

The solitary black sari with a contrast maroon border and teamed with a mandarin collar blouse was worn by Bollywood beauty Amy Jackson of Ek Deewana Tha fame who ended the show in great style and aplomb.

For garments with a universal appeal, Pernia Qureshi’s range “An Evening in Paris” was a glittering offering on the catwalk.
