Akshay Kumar shoots on a sunday after 7 years….

The last time Akshay Kumar worked on a Sunday was when he was shooting for Priyadarshan’s Bhagam Bhag in 2006. Back then, Akshay set a rule for himself of never to work on a Sunday, and dedicated that one day of the week to his family. But now, he has broken his own rule for Milan Luthria’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai.

“Milan was not well, due to which the shoot was delayed for three days. So Akshay agreed to work on April 7 (Sunday) to make up for lost time. Since this is the film’s last schedule, the makers can’t push it any further. The permission and availability of the shooting venue (at Ballard Estate in south Mumbai) is also a constraint,” says an insider from the unit.

To make sure they catch up on lost time, Akshay and co-stars Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha started shooting at 7 am on Sunday. “The shoot went on all day till the sun went down. The idea was to finish as much as they could,” adds the insider.

Milan confirms the news, saying “Yes, I have asked Akshay for a big favour (by making him work on a Sunday). But what we shot on April 7 is a interesting sequence,” he says, adding, “I haven’t told him yet, but I need him to work next Sunday too.”

The sequel to the 2010 gangster film is expected to release on Eid this year.

Rohit Shetty at his Stunt Mans Rescue

Rohit Shetty cancelled the day’s shooting of Chennai Express recently after stuntman Shankar Anna suffered burn injuries on location in Wai. The incident took place on Friday while shooting a car chase sequence. The car Shankar was driving developed a leak and the vehicle caught fire.
A source from the unit tells us that Shankar was wearing a fire suit, which was a relief. He further added, “Rohit got the fire put out quickly and took Shankar Anna to the hospital in his own car. He made sure that the doctors attended to him and also stayed over at the hospital to oversee his treatment and care.” While SRK wasn’t on location when the accident happened, we’re told that he remained in contact with Rohit about Shankar’s treatment and suggested they move him to Mumbai for better treatment.

Lalit Modi’s niece Jayati to make her acting debut in Karan Johar’s next

Lalit Modi’s niece Jayati Modi is all set to earn her share of the limelight this may as she makes her Bollywood debut. The 16- year- old will be seen in Karan Johar’s upcoming film – Gippi playing Shamira.

The young actress, who plays a teenage girl in school, bagged the role in the film thanks to social media. “The auditions were conducted through Facebook and Jayati happened to know about it via her friends. She registered in Delhi with a group of friends but everyone auditioned except her,” says a source.

Turns out director Sonam Nair noticed her in the crowd. “When Sonam asked her why she wasn’t auditioning, Jayati said she was not sure about it. But when Sonam insisted, she went ahead and not only auditioned but also bagged the role,” adds the source.

According to Sonam, Jayati was perfect for the role. “ She was not b**** y but had the right attitude that was required for her character. She fit the part of ‘Shamira’ naturally. In real life as well she is very much like her character. She is intelligent, good with sports and extra- curricular activities and very popular in her school.” sums up the debutante director.

Does Ranbir do a Shammi?

In ‘Badtameez dil’ from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ranbir’s footwork seems inspired from choreography in songs like ‘Aaja aaja main hoon pyaar tera’ (Teesri Manzil, 1966) and ‘Baar baar dekho’ (China Town, 1962).

The makers of the film, however, maintain it’s only a coincidence. “I don’t know if we can call it an ode to Shammiji; it wasn’t a planned move. But now, when we look at some of the moves and Ranbir’s mad energy, the similarities can’t be ignored. I think people see the connection because Shammiji also possessed unparalleled energy when it came to dance,” says director Ayan Mukerji.

Shot over five days, the song that has been choreographed by Remo D’Souza, is also special because Ranbir brought in his 30th birthday during its shoot. “I didn’t have any song-and-dance number in Wake Up Sid (2009), but I always wanted to explore shooting one. So I am really happy with the response,” adds Ayan.

Triumphant weekend with twin podium finish for Mahindra Racing in Italy

Rider Andrea Locatelli does team proud at Round 2 of CIV Moto3 double race weekend

Mumbai, India, April 08, 2013: Round 2 of the CIV Moto3 double race weekend concluded yesterday at Mugello’s Autodromo Internazionale and presented the Mahindra Racing Team with several moments of pride.

Rider Andrea Locatelli finished with a twin podium finish. While he won the first race, he finished the second race in third position. Michael Rinaldi finished eighth in the first encounter and a respectable sixth in the second. Both riders are confident of doing increasingly well in forthcoming rounds of the prestigious CIV Moto3.

In the first race, the Team was on pole position with Andrea Locatelli, while Michael Rinaldi obtained the 8th grid slot. It was a front and third row start at the 13-lap race for the two talented riders. Locatelli moved off well from the grid and got to the front, followed closely by a six-rider pack.

Rinaldi got off to a good start too and crossed the line in 7th place at the end of the first few laps. It was a very challenging race with a three-way battle for the win with the pole position constantly changing between Locatelli, Valtulini and Marini. As the race progressed Rinaldi lost a bit of ground and was 10th while the trio of front-runners pulled a big gap between themselves and the rest of the field.

During the last lap, Locatelli managed to get a small margin over his opponents and finished the race with a fantastic victory. Rinaldi was able to recover some positions, ending up 8th at the chequered flag. It was a memorable day for Locatelli and Team Mahindra Racing, who scored both pole position and a race win.

After the first day’s pole position and victory, all expectations were on the Mahindra rider for a repeat performance, while teammate Rinaldi was eager to better his first race 8th place finish.

Locatelli moved off from the top spot and Rinaldi from the 8th. A ten-rider battle for the win made this a thrilling one. Both Mahindra Racing riders were in contention for first place as they lapped constantly within the top positions. The race was characterised by continuous overtaking manoeuvres, but in the final part Rinaldi lost touch with the front-runners and ended up 6th.

Locatelli fought hard for the double win, crossing the line in 3rd place with just a tenth of a second gap from 2nd place Coletti. It’s was a positive day for Mahindra Racing, which completes the first race weekend with a victory, a 3rd place finish and a pole position.

Commenting on his performance, Andrea Locatelli said, “First of all I’d like to thank Team Mahindra for the great opportunity to race in the CIV with them. Both races were intense and hard fought. In the first race, I gave everything I had on the first lap and got a little margin that proved to be enough for the win. The second race was much more difficult compared to the first. There were ten riders battling for the win and it was a brawl for all 13 laps. Weather conditions were different so we had to adjust the set-up a bit. The team did a fantastic job on it. I got on the podium again and I know this is very important for the team and me. I leave Mugello with first place in the standings, knowing that I can challenge for the title. I want to thank the team for the amazing job done here at Mugello”.

Michael Ruben Rinaldi said, “As Andrea Locatelli’s performance demonstrated, the bike has great potential. I would like to thank the team for the outstanding job they have done. As far as my bike is concerned, we sorted out the issues that limited our performance yesterday. I got a very good start and battled at the front. Unfortunately, towards the end of the race I lost some ground from the leading pack. I’m happy though, because in the second race, we were much faster than the first. These two races have been a sort of test for me, really, and we’ve managed to improve. I’m confident for the next races and want to challenge for the win”.

The next CIV Moto3 round will take place at Vallelunga from May 24 to 26.

Aditya Roy Kapur gets dare-devilish for Aashiqui 2

Aditya Roy Kapur who plays the lead in the sequel to T-Series & Vishesh Films’ musical blockbuster Aashiqui 2 is going 2 steps further with this film and performed several risky stunts including shooting while on a railing of a 21st floor balcony minus a safety harness.

While shooting in Cape Town at a temperature of two degrees , a rain sequence required the actor to sit shirtless at the edge of a railing on the topmost floor of a building .And while the makers suggested using a stunt double, Aditya clearly refused and was keen on shooting for it himself.

All praise for the actor says producer Bhushan Kumar , “Aditya is very aggressive at his craft and wanted to prove that he could do it…I’m happy to say he pulled it off successfully”.

Hrithik’s Krrish 3 to release on Nov 3rd…

The makers have not even released the first look of Krrish 3, yet Hrithik Roshan’s upcoming superhero sequel is a highly-anticipated release. And now, even as the film remains under-production, director-producer Rakesh Roshan has made another move that will lead to a further increase in expectations. Unlike most Bollywood films that release on Friday, Krrish 3 will hit the big screen on Sunday, November 3, which also happens to be Diwali day.

“It’s an auspicious occasion, so why not make the most of it by releasing Krrish 3 on the same date? Plus, my distributors have informed me that no big film is releasing pre-Diwali,” says Roshan Sr, adding that he has taken the decision with Hrithik’s total support.

The last film he directed was in 2006, Krrish. The industry seems extremely confident about the release of his next. Ask him if he feels the same way, and the filmmaker responds with a smile, saying, “Absolutely not. If the film is good, it will work. I don’t believe in pre-empting results.”

Incidentally, releasing films on the regular Diwali weekend — November 1 — is not considered a wise decision as people are reluctant to leave their homes a few days before the festival. “So if the film releases on November 1, it might not get as big an opening as it would if it released on November 3,” informs a trade insider.
