Social activist Manmohan Gupta to donate Rs 1.51 Lakh for Maharashtra Drought

The Talaash contest

Microsoft Windows 8 announced a contest, both online and offline, that was open to consumers from October 2012 to January 2013. Participants had to share their experience of Windows 8 on the Windows Facebook page. Parallelly, Microsoft also ran a contest for developers, ‘QualityAppQuest Contest’, which helped in some very interesting apps getting developed for the Windows 8 platform.

Both the contests received an overwhelming response from across the country and in a closely contested finish the five contestants who framed the best responses and the two best app creators were invited to meet and interact with Aamir Khan in Mumbai.

Ranbir plays a fun match with the kids from Magic Bus before the main ASFC match

Continuing with the football mania, Ranbir Kapoor who is also a founder of the All Stars Football Club, a property of charitable trust, Playing for Humanity, had his first media interaction in the capital city just two days before the actual match.

Ranbir played a fun practice session with the kids from Magic Bus, the main organization to which the proceeds of the match will be given to. Magic Bus is a non-profit-organization that works towards an overall development of the underprivileged kids of society.

After enjoying with the kids, Ranbir had an interaction with the media where he said, “I’m fortunate to be one of the founders of the club. Bunty walia came with this brilliant idea and all the profits go to the charity organisations and I think it’s a great cause and we have had a great time. We are practising every Sunday since the last 6 to 7 months. We all are very passionate. I think sports is very important for every individual not only for celebrities, for various reasons – one it keeps you very healthy and so many things it teaches you about team work, team spirit and discipline. I’m lucky enough to play a sporting event with cricketers, they all have a great spirit. It will be a fun match. I have been passionate about football right from school days. I played for the under 14, under 16 and I played for the district but then of course once you get into college and start working you lose touch with the sport. I’m lucky to be a part of this as it makes me play football every week. I always played right up on the wings forward but I would like to try and play mid field also at some game. We are trying very hard, we come from a different industry and when we play football we need lot of stamina and practice. It’s a team sport and we are getting there. Every school should encourage the sport in India because if you start encouraging at a young age the kids are aware.”

Ranbir Kapoor dons a different look in the upcoming Pepsi IPL commercial

Apart from his acting abilities, youth icon and heartthrob, Ranbir Kapoor is known for his good looks and trend-setting style. However, the actor shocked many when he stepped out of his vanity van recently for the shoot of Pepsi’s IPL campaign at Filmcity in Mumbai.

Sources reveal that many crew members, who were not privy to the drastic make-over, were unable to recognize the actor who quietly went to give his shot.

In the upcoming funny commercial for Pepsi IPL, Ranbir plays a simple working class man who wears dull clothes, large spectacles, dental braces, and a 90s style chevron moustache. A cricket fan, he is seen carrying a large brief-case style bag and a yellow tiffin box in the ad film.

When asked, this is what Ranbir had to say about the look, “It’s not the usual casual and trendy look that I get to sport in Pepsi campaigns or in most of my films. In the new ad film, I play a simple man, who likes to dress conservatively but is passionate about cricket, India and Pepsi IPL. You can call it my ‘de-glam’ look”.

Kicking off proceedings early on Friday evening were DJs Willy and Nikhil Chinapa. They were followed by 17 year old DJ Shaanwho alongwith Colombian DJ LS workedthe crowd into a frenzy.With great anticipation Tiësto then entered the stage to shake up the packed house with a mind numbing set that lasted more than 2 hours. Spell-binding SFX with over 2000 sq. ft of LED screens and over 300 lighting installations coupled with pulse popping beats totaling to 100,000 watts of sound, engulfed revelers as the Sunburn Arenabegan to resemble an EDM temple where worshippers were dancing to God itself.

The top-notch quality of the Sunburn Arena production was managed by over 600 security personnel and 290 staff workingfor over 1500 hours to put this together.

A small film with a large heart

Karan Johar talks about his next movie

Karan Johar is all set for his new movie Gippi which is a simple movie about a 14-year-old girl (played by 13-year-old Riya Vij), who falls in love with a hunk (played by Taaha Shah) in her school. It also has a maximum number of newcomers, all from Delhi. They shot during their summer vacations last year.

Its one of the least expensive projects of Dharma Production and it is directed by Sonam Nair who was assistant director in Ayan Mukherji’s Wake up Sid.

This movie is different from other Karan Johar movies which are romantic films and family entertainers that he usually makes
Calling Gippi a small film with a large heart, KJo feels that the story of Gurpreet Kaur, aka Gippi, is one that many will relate to. He says, “Gippi is a new kind of film and it is unusual for us to venture into that space. I hope it gets all the love it deserves. The script took me back to my growing-up years. Everyone has a Gippi in them and I’m sure people will connect with the character. Small films need large strategies. And we’ll be going all out for this one. It has been translated very sensibly.”
About Sonam, who was an assistant director in Ayan Mukerji’s Wake Up Sid, KJo says, “Ayan told me about this script being lively. When I started reading it, I found it was a page-turner. And the next morning, I wanted to make the movie. Sonam, who is the first woman director on board a Dharma project, is vibrant and fun herself. She has the spark to make great fun films.” About the music composed by Vishal-Shekhar, he says, “They have come up with a spunky soundtrack. Just like the character of Gippi, the music had to be kick-ass.”
The digital trailer of the film will be launched today and the theatrical will play in cinemas from Friday.
