‘Unarranged’: A shortfilm that arranged two million views in two months

New Delhi, Aug 12, 2017: ‘Unarranged’, a shortfilm addressing the fears of today’s youngsters towards arranged marriages, has gone viral, bagging roughly 2 million views, on YouTube, in just two months. The film was released in the second week of June, this year, by Natak Pictures, a popular Delhi-based film studio.

The light-hearted short, through the story of a young ‘about-to get-married’ couple in Kanpur, beautifully attempts to restore the diminishing faith in arranged marriages and brings to light the fact that arranged marriages are not as scary as they are thought to be.

Commenting on the success of the film, Rahul Bhatnagar, the director of the film said, “Films had always fascinated me. For long I was under the impression that one needs to have a huge budget to be able to make a film. Until I myself started writing and directing film under Natak Pictures with the little resources I had. The success of Unarranged and my previous films have negated this perception of mine. I immensely appreciate the taste and judgement of the today’s audience which proves, it’s not the budget but the content that defines the success of a film”.

Rahul Bhatnagar, who has been working as an advertising professional for eight years now, believes in creating realistic and relatable content under the banner of Natak Pictures. In addition to the content, he gives special emphasis on the cast of his films.

In ‘Unarranged’, playing the role of a sharp finicky Kanpuriya bride is Tanya Singh, who recently made her acting debut as Sam in the popular web series-‘The Good Girls Show’ and acting as her sweet and simple ‘husband-to-be’ is Syed Shabahat Ali, who made a mark in his acting career through the famous India-Pak Google ad.

Amidst entertaining script, thoughtful direction and effortless acting, the background music of the film, given by Arjun Asthana, is being hugely appreciated by the audience.
