The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne announces four not-to-be-missed masterclasses

A must for industry practitioners or anyone interested in developing a greater understanding of Indian films, The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne will see 4 masterclasses addressed by filmmakers Kabir Khan and Onir, actor-turned-TV host Simi Garewal and documentary director Penny Voznaik.

Simi Garewal will speak on the subject of the “Evolution of Women in Indian Cinema” ,while director Kabir Khan speaks of his journey from Documentaries to Blockbusters.

After Rang De Basanti’s spectacular musical success, this is the second project with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra that adds another feather to Sony Music’s repertoire. Co-produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is based on the biography of India’s most prominent athlete, Milkha Singh which is played by multi-talented actor Farhan Akhtar in a pivotal role.

Richa Chadda goes back to train with mentor Barry John

Richa Chadda who blew audiences away with her performance in films like Oye Lucky Lucky Oye and Gangs of Wasseypur ,being the perfectionist she is ,is now going back to her mentor Barry John to sharpen her acting skills for her upcoming films.

Talking about the equation Richa shares with the theatre veteran she says, “I’ve been really lucky to have trained with Barry who has been a huge inspiration and guiding force in my career. He has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry and is also responsible to a great extent in instilling in me a passion for acting. He has made me a thinking actor so my meeting him is a natural choice.”

All praise for the actress says Barry John , “I have been associated with Richa since 1996 when we were based in Delhi and she had enrolled for a part- time course. Later when we shifted base to Mumbai, Richa approached me again and it was then when I saw the real talent in her. Paresh Ganatra the prankster strikes again on sets of Chidiyaghar

Paresh Ganatra besides being one of TV’s finest actors is also one of the biggest pranksters. On the sets of Chidiyaghar he is the mastermind behind all pranks. Everyone on the show has been subject to his pranks and very recently even senior most actor Rajendra Gupta (Babuji) too fell for one and had the unit members in splits!!!

Chidiya Ghar current track will see everyone recreating the magic of Mughal era through the story of Akbar and Birbal. Babuji is playing Akbar’s character, Gomukh is playing Birbal, Mayuri is playing Anarkali and Ghotak is playing clever Barber & Koyal is playing his wife.

In the story, Rajendra Gupta plays Akbar and Gomukh plays Birbal who along with other cast members are seen in colourful Mughal attires depicting their respective roles. Their majestic enactment is certain to provide their audiences with a rich visual treat. As the track comes to an end, the family understands that devising an evil plot for someone else’s downfall normally results into your own.

However, it’s not all work and no play on the sets of Chidiya Ghar. Ghotak (played by Paresh Ganatra) is known for his skills as a prankster on the sets. Ghotak who will be playing the role of a barber in the track needed to shave Babuji in a sequence. Along with the help of other cast members he pretended that the razor which was to be used for shaving had a real blade. After they finished shooting for the scene, the truth was finally revealed to Babuji. Although Rajendra Gupta was startled for a moment, he soon had a hearty laugh with other cast members. However, Babuji reversed the prank by punishing Ghotak and having him stand on the bench for an hour!

Rajendra Gupta exclaimed, “Everyone is like a family and we have a lot of fun on the sets. Usually Paresh and I play pranks on everyone but this time I was fooled by him. It was more surprising to see everyone was a part of the prank along with him. Soon we all had a good laugh about it”

Looks like Claudia Ciesla is making a stand in Bollywood industry. The audience did not take her out of their minds because of her hot number ‘Balma’ and now she is up for some more. She appeared in Sony channel’s famous show ‘Comedy Circus Ke Ajoobe’.

Claudia featured in Item Bomb Special Episode with Purbi Joshi, Mantra and Rajeev Mehra. It is the first time that the bomb shell is seen entertaining her fans in a laughter show. Claudia was praised by the judges Archana Puran Sing and Arbaaz Khan who is the new judge in place of his brother Sohail Khan. They not only gave her 10 out of 10 points but also were very happy because of her fluent Hindi. Both the judges confessed that they never thought Claudia could speak Hindi so well.

Claudia not only entertained the audience with her comedy act but also mesmerized them with her dance on her hot number Balma.

Varun Bajaj’s Bar Stools goes to Cannes

Varun Bajaj’s short film Bar Stools starring Rajit Kapur ,Anahita Uberoi and Aum Ahluwalia has been selected for the Cannes Library and is also listed on Catalogue du Court,their official online portal.

Talking about the film says director Varun Bajaj, “The story is all about two middle- aged loners who develop a blooming romance over five afternoons at a local watering hole. Interestingly, the bartender decides to play the cupid and get the love story rolling”. Commenting on the challenges the youngster faced in pulling off the short film in a restricted time says Bajaj, “The biggest challenge we faced was getting the actors on board. Luckily the minute Anahita Uberoi and Rajit Kapur heard the script, they agreed and we needed to juggle dates and squeeze two full days out of their busy schedule. Being actors coming from the world of theatre, we needed to be extremely precise, prompt and most importantly organised to get things done”.

Veena Malik mobbed during the promotion of movie Zindagi 50:50

The actress was in Jaipur promoting her upcoming movie Zindagi 50:50 at Inox and Dainik Nav Jyoti where she got mobbed and had to cut short her visit as the crowd of over thousands of enthusiastic fans went out of control just to get a glimpse of her and to meet her personally inspite of very heavy and tight security. The movie is being dubbed in various languages including Tamil, which is stated to release on 24th may.
