The Other Song Arthritis Awareness Seminar Evokes Great Response

Don’t let arthritis cramp your life or style, a seminar for the lay man by renowned homoeopath and speaker Dr. Shekhar Algundgi and Dietician Meher Panjwani was held on June 8 at The Other Song International Academy of Advanced Homoeopathy at Andheri, Mumbai. It was attended by 54 participants. The seminar focussed on informing about the facts related to arthritis and role of Homoeopathy and Diet in treating such ailment.

The seminar began with witnessing the role of homoeopathy in arthritis cases like Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Infectious Arthritis and Juvenile Arthritis. This was followed by explaining the principles of Homoeopathy: Law of similar, Idea of holism, Concept of individualism. Dr Shekhar Algundgi explained to the participants what role homoeopathy plays in maintaining a healthy life. He also spoke about the application of homoeopathic principles and the role of homeopathy in arthritis, health, and he also talked about how mediation plays important role in treating. He explained how homoeopathy works holistically at the mind, body and spirit levels and how it brings about wonderful results based on its scientific laws in these diseases. Meher Panjwani spoke about how diets are important for arthritis patients.

The Patient – George Varghese age 45, shared his experience with homoeopathy, in 2007 he was diagnosed with Rhumatoid Arthritis. He was bed-ridden and  doctors gave him only three months. At this point of time he decided to try homoeopathy and he is completely fine now.

Says Dr Algundi, “the whole idea of homoeopathy is based on one principle of individualisation. Each case of arthritis will present with different symptoms common to arthritis plus feature which are peculiar to individual. For example, one person comes and says that his pairs started from ankle then knees and then hips. Whereas other person says the pain started with neck, then shoulder and then wrist. So we see that in one it has gone from below upward and in the second it has above downwards. This is what homoeopathy tries to focus on… to understand the feelings, perception of situation. For example, one person with arthritis may feel irritable due to pain; a second might feel he is not able to function, cannot carry out the daily routine and a third might feel others of his age are normal and he is having these pains. So there is a need to understand the individual features, an optimal homoeopath and remedy be selected. This remedy not only helps to alleviate the pain but also brings a sense of well being within the patient. The energy levels increase, the pain is eased and there is a feeling of wellness.”

Dr Meher Punjwani discussed how the right diet and the right lifestyle can make a vital difference in keeping arthritis at bay. All in all, an eventful session, indeed.
