SMERA Ratings Limited launches new 10th year logo.

10th Sep 2014, Mumbai: On the eve entering the tenth year of its operations, SMERA Ratings Limited announces the launch of its evaluation product for the non-profit sector. The product is a comprehensive assessment of the key risk factors affecting the sustainability and operational viability of the NGO from an independent third party perspective. The evaluation is aimed at improving the visibility for NGOs and enabling decision making for the donor and stakeholder community. Given the limited information availability, extreme fragmentation and lack of reliable comparable data, the sector suffers from low credibility. An independent, meaningful and effective evaluation mechanism can help the non-profit organizations overcome such problems.

SMERA’s maiden NGO evaluation has been performed for an NGO established with an aim to provide dignified livelihood to underprivileged.

Mr. Sankar Chakraborti, CEO SMERA says “Despite the critical role played by these institutions, the NGO sector remains fragmented and suffers from lack of resources on account of lower visibility. There is a great need to strengthen this fragmented sector. With this aim in mind, SMERA has launched its offering for the NGO sector.”

This event also marks the introduction of SMERA’s 10th year logo. The logo (appearing on the top left hand side of this document) is an attempt to showcase SMERA’s contribution towards building trust and credibility of entities in the eyes of the lending and investing community.

SMERA has assigned an NGO grading of ‘NGO 3’ to Srujna Charitable Trust (Srujna). The grading reflects ‘Moderate performance and sustainability’ of the trust.

Srujna founded in 2011, was registered in March 2013 as a charitable trust under the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950.
