Bumper opening for Vikram Bhatt’s 1920: Evil Returns

BVG Films and ASA Production‘s horror 1920- Evil Returns, made on a humble budget, did better than what it set out to,raking in an impressive 4.05 crore at the box office on its first day, despite having the restraint of limited shows in multiplexes .

While mass circuits like CI, CP, Rajasthan and UP did exceptionally well, the film also had encouraging numbers coming in from multiplexes thanks to its spooky moments, picturesque visuals and melodious and immensely catchy music, giving it a winning edge over the other releases.

As reported by Box Office India, 1920 – Evil Returns recorded a better opening day collection than many medium budget films which had a big publicity spend like Kahaani, Gangs Of Wasseypur, Ferrari Ki Sawaari, and English Vinglish.

Says acclaimed critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh “Looking at the Friday numbers -1920 Evil Returns,it should be titled ‘Vikram Bhatt Returns’ with a bang, after #Raaz 3 and now this film. It has packed a punch on Day 1, especially at single screens of mass circuits”.

Says an elated Vikram Bhatt “It’s overwhelming when something you’ve worked hard on bears fruit – We are glad audiences are embracing the film”.

BVG Films and ASA Production ‘s 1920- Evil Returns released yesterday ,the 2nd November,2012.

Kavita Radheshyam: “I was offered big bucks by Bigg Boss to fake a relationship with a married man on Bigg Boss Season 6″

Content by:

The popular Reality Show on Colors – Bigg Boss is in its sixth season and has seen a lot of ups and downs over the last 5 years. But this one takes the cake. Actress and model Kavita Radheshyam who turned down an offer to participate in Bigg Boss Season 6 has made some really startling revelations and disclosures. Speaking to a TV channel on Saturday, Kavita Radheshyam said, “Bigg Boss offered me big bucks to fake a relationship or love affair with a married man on the show. Further, I was asked to flirt with Rajeev Paul whose ex-wife Delnaz is also on the show. I was told that I would be paid a huge sum of money, if I could initially flirt with Rajeev Paul causing fights or discord in the house. Later on, I would have to try and bring the estranged couple together and get them to sort of kiss and make up on the show – even if it was temporarily. It would have been my task to get Rajeev Paul and his ex-wife Delnaz to reconcile their differences and maybe even consider a re-marriage. Rajeev Paul and Delnaz are divorced after a long, bitter fight, so the question of bringing them together seems very remote. I found it a very stupid suggestion. I know that reality shows are partly scripted, but this suggestion coming from a senior Endemol executive – Endemol owns the IPR to the Bigg Boss format – even before I could sign the contract or a confidentiality agreement was really perverse.” Sushant, an Endemol executive kept calling and messaging me several times almost begging me to join the show, Kavita revealed to Newz88, adding that she was given to understand that Sushant was a very senior executive from the Endemol creative team.

Speaking to Newz88, Kavita Radheshaym also hinted that a senior Endemol executive had tried to act fresh with her and even suggested the casting couch if she wanted more money.

Hitting out at Bigg Boss, Kavita Radheshyam while speaking about her interview told Newz88, “None of the former Bigg Boss participants or inmates have made it big in Bollywood. If one checks out the current resumes of the participants of the last 5 seasons, it is very evident that almost none of the participants have really gone far. Forget about the participants, even the winners have not made any quantum leaps in their filmi career. Kashmera Shah, Shweta Tiwari and some others were anyway working in the industry before they entered the Bigg Boss house. But those who were not doing much are still struggling where they are. To name a few – German model Claudia Ciesla who was linked with Salman Khan and entered the Bigg Boss house amid much fanfare hasn’t gone far in the last 3 years. Similarly, Ashutosh – the winner of the second season or Season 2 is not doing much. Anupama Verma, Aryan Vaid, Payal Rohatgi, Ashutosh, Raja Chaudhary, Rohit Verma and several others may be doing some work, but their career has not got a kick start with Bigg Boss. In fact, many former participants have sunk to lower levels in terms of a film or modeling career after their stints with Bigg Boss. The reasons for this is quite simple. A candidate who goes into Bigg Boss gets a false air or sense of superiority and hikes his or her professional fees several times over. After the initial hullabaloo and publicity has died down, event organizers, producers and TV channels do not want to touch the former participants with their inflated egos and hiked rates and drop them like hot potatoes. They try to tap the latest Reality Show participants. As a result many of them are actually out of work. By the time the reality of the Reality Show business strikes in, it’s too late for the candidate who has over-priced himself or herself and is out of the reckoning for most production houses and event companies. I would consider Bigg Boss a dent on one’s film career instead of a boost,” Kavita Radheshyam told Newz88.

Newz88 tried to contact the concerned persons for their comments and viewpoint, including Deepak Dhar, Managing Director of Endemol India but they were unavailable for comment.

Composed cartoonist Aseem Trivedi exits the Bigg Boss house

Aseem Trivedi a cartoonist by profession and a social activist by passion came into the Bigg Boss house with much controversy surrounding him. The cartoonist loves to speak about the various social issues our country faces outside as well as inside the Bigg Boss house. Aseem came into the house as a shy guy and did not interact much with the other housemates for the first week. Slowly but steadily he found intellectual partners in Sidhu, Sampat & Sapna mainly. He started opening up and sharing his thoughts about how our country lacks peace & harmony mainly due to the backward thinking of the people. Aseem participated in all the household chores, activities, tasks etc with much passion & sincerity.

Aseem hit it off with Sapna Bhavnani the most as the two would often be seen sharing their opinions and views regarding the social issues women and men in the country are facing. Politics, violence and lack of awareness were their main subjects. Sapna started calling Aseem ‘bhaiya’ and the two were quite fond of each other. Every time either of them would be upset the other one would be the first one to console them. He stayed in the Bigg Boss house for four entire weeks and did manage to win every housemate’s heart with his simplicity and humble nature. He entered the house as an introvert but after the four weeks in the Bigg Boss house, one can surely call him a confident extrovert. Aseem never lost his cool in the house and always stayed good terms with the others.

When asked, Aseem said, “I’m so grateful to god to give me such a wonderful platform to raise my opinions and meet such wonderful people from different walks of life. My stay in the Bigg Boss house has taught me a lot about life. Now that I’m outside I can work on my motive to spread awareness of the various social issues our country faces today. I will definitely miss the Bigg Boss house and I wish them all the best. May the best person win the season.”
Warm Regards,

Preeti Garude

In 2011 once again India was shaken as a 36-year-old auxiliary nurse/midwife Bhanwari Devi goes missing from Jaliwada village (Bilara tehsil) in Rajasthan. Her husband Amarchand alleges she has been kidnapped at the behest of Water Resources Minister Mahipal Maderna. He alleges that Maderna used to call her regularly and that “I told him once to stop calling my wife, but he denied the fact and instead accused my wife of calling him”. Bhanwari Devi allegedly had a CD showing her in a compromising position with Maderna and was using it to blackmail him before she went missing. The Bhanwari Devi case has nearly brought down the Rajasthan government forcing Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to effect a major Cabinet reshuffle.

Provoked by this incident a bollywood producer Ranjeet Sharma went a step ahead and launched a film on real life story of Bhanwari Devi which was titled as “BHANWARI KA JAAL” under direction of Rakesh Saini. Recently film was shot in Jodhpur including Central Jail, during this schedule the makers had to face problems from Jat community as they felt that this film will bring defame to their community. In spite of these problems Ranjeet Sharma and Rakesh Saini were able to complete their schedule and now they are shooting in Mumbai. We had a glimpse of their shoot which was going on at Manisha Bungalow at Mudh, excerpts from shooting.

Approximately entire caste were present during shoot Sadhika Randhawa (as Bhanwari Devi), Amar Sharma (as her husband Amarchand), Kiran Kumar (as MLA Harpal Singh), Karamveer (as Minister Mahipal Maderna), Upasana Singh (as Indira Bishnoi sister of Harpal Singh) along with VIP & Sunil Pal (both as constables). Due to date problem Sudesh Berry who is playing as minister of Rajasthan Government, Aroon Bakshi as Union Minister Mukul Vasnik, Mustaq Khan as Sp CBI and Ehsaan Khan who is playing as CBI Officer were not present that time. A scene was being enacted between Kiran Kumar, Sadhika & Upasana Singh in garden of the bungalow, as soon as the shot was ok we caught hold Producer & Director and wanted to know about the progress and details of film.

Producer Ranjeet Sharma said we are now in last lap of shooting, in spite of lots of hurdles we are able to complete this film. When asked what sort of hurdles he replied “Shooting of this film in Jodhpur has created a havoc among Jat community, they feel that this film is being made to defame their community so they were protesting for shooting of “Bhanwari Ka Jaal”, A group of Jat mahasabha had approached high authorities of police to stop this shooting immediately otherwise they will come on road and will not allow this film to get released, I’ve replied to a notice I got from the Jat community in Rajasthan, who claimed that their sentiments will be hurt if this film is made. I replied stating that I’m making the film based on the incidents and court’s observations on the case,” producer Ranjeet Sharma seems prepared for any legal hurdles. Director Rakesh Saini added “To make a film on any real person, you need permissions from the family. We have got all the required documents from Bhanwari’s husband Amarchand and their lawyers”.

Sadhika Randhawa who is playing title character said she was thrilled when she got this role, she did lots of study to follow the character of Bhanwari Devi, she herself went and met her family in Rajasthan, worked on minute details of Bhanwari with help of her husband Amarchand, her children’s and in-laws. Amar Sharma was bored of getting offer similar to his character of TV serial ‘Balika Vadhu’ which got him fame, he was waiting for right opportunity and this film “Bhanwari Ka Jaal” was it. He studied thoroughly on character of Amarchand, he went and met Bhanwari’s husband in Jail and was very much moved by their conditions. Kiran Kumar said he enjoyed the shoot of this film as he has worked in many fantasies but to work on a real story drama is something different. Karamveer Choudhari who is a Jat himself is not only thrilled but little bit afraid as he knows that after playing this character he may have to face angers of Jat community in Rajasthan.

Film “Bhanwari Ka Jaal” is now being shot in Mumbai and is getting ready to be released in December 2012. Film has been written by director Rakesh Saini himself being made under the banner of Ashima Films with music by Ravi Pawar and cinematography by Devaashish Sarkar. Film has Sadhika Randhawa, Sudesh Berry, as its main lead actors, along with Amar Sharma (as Amarchand husband of Bhanwari), Kiran Kumar (as MLA), Aroon Bakshi, Kanchan Sharma, Upasana Singh, VIP, Sunil Pal, Yana Mistri, Karamveer (as Minister Mahipal Maderna), Mehnaaz Shroff, Mushtaq Khan & Ehsaan Khan.
