Q.  Tell us about your role in Shapath…
A. It is a very interesting character of a woman who speaks her mind. She is who she appears to be, never mind the shades. I loved the a la Tomb Raider action sequences, the mounting of the show and the amazing stunts. Also it was a very interesting experience for me with good turning bad!

Q. This role sees you ina negative shade, and that is so different from your lead role in Bhagyavidhaata that propelled you into the limelight. Arent you afraid that the audiences may or may not accept you in a negative role?

A. Bhagyavidhaata launched me on television as the lead and I will always be grateful for the show. But I loved the wicked shades I got to essay in Shapath!

When an actor believes and gives his character 100 per cent, the audiences flow with  him. That is my belief and I have faith in my art. I am an artist more than an actor… I don’t know want to bind myself with any inhibitions.

Q. Action seems to fascinate you…
A. Yes. It was not easy to become fit. I was always petite, but after Bhagyavidhaata I went though some serious personal stress and I did not take care of myself. And one morning, I woke up and told myself, come on, pheonix, it’s time you rise! And then, there was no looking back.

Q. You did your own stunts in Shapath…

A. Besides dancing, action is my passion. And when this role came my way, what excited me was the rope stunts, the harness and the stuff I can do that others would not dare. And with veteran action master Allan Amin guiding me with the Fireworks team,  I was cool.

Q. So was it smooth sailing?

A. No, I injured my wrist but I enjoyed the stunts every second…  I knew that it will not be easy. That is why I chose the role.

Q. What next?

A.I have a Bollywood film next, but at the moment as I am shooting for it, I would like to reveal once we are ready.
