For instance, Manmohan Gupta has been asking for automatic doors for the Mumbai locals like the ones on Mono Rail & Metro Rail. Platforms have to be spruced up and lifts installed for old and the physically challenged. More than 1500 people have died in past 8 months while commuting. Automatic door would have ensured no deaths and so many families would have not been destroyed. When a wage earning person dies, what will the family do?

Episodic Synopsis – Day 10

Roti versus Khichadi in the Bigg Boss house

With the garba season in full swing, the housemates wake up to ‘Dholi Taro Dhol Baje’ from Hum Dil De Chuke Saanam with Aashka, Urvashi, Sana and Vrijesh getting a chance to practice their steps to the beat. While on one side, a few housemates are enjoying, Sapna and Kashif engage in a minor argument wherein Kashif expresses his point (innumerable times) that once he is out of the Bigg Boss house, his life is set. This annoys Sapna to no end who expresses her displeasure against it.

Being upset seems like the norm of the day as Aashka is seen breaking down (again) in the bathroom. She tells Urvashi that she cannot bear the fights anymore and she wants to go home. While Urvashi consoles her, Aashka is still upset and seemed unconvinced. To cheer her up, a little while later, Delnaaz, Urvashi and Vrijesh are seen entertaining her with funny songs, dances and one liners.

As a part of the punishment for making the least contribution in the luxury budget task, Rajev is given a punishment by Bigg Boss to take care of kitchen responsibilities – from cooking to serving. He can take help from only two male members of the house, for which he selects Niketan and Assem. After some time, Rajev is seen assuming the responsibility by asking everyone if they want chai. The women give him their preferences and when he asks Assem to join him to make tea, Urvashi speaks out. According to her, one person is enough to make tea and if that’s not the case, she is going to call herself Superwoman from now on, considering she has been making food for the other housemates for so long.

When the question of what to make for dinner arises, Rajev and Niketan decide on dal khichadi as it is the easiest to make. But only Urvashi opposes this and hence Rajiv decides to make roti and sabji. While the preparations are underway, Urvashi asks for an egg fry as she and a few other women are hungry. Rajev albeit grumblingly makes the eggs saying that none of the other housemates have ever requested for a snack to be made before dinner. When the eggs are served to the women, Rajev serves it in one plate. Urvashi doesn’t like this and expresses her displeasure to which Rajev retorts that everyone has to eat what the kitchen team serves today. And then all hell breaks loose!

Urvashi takes this as a taunt from Rajev and says that she is tired of his taunts. She adds that she also cooks for the entire household everyday and Rajev is creating an unnecessary issue over eggs! The argument between the two escalates to Urvashi making a personal taunt to Rajev about Delnaaz, which offends him and he is dragged out of the bedroom by Vrijesh. Everyone in the house is trying to calm tempers down, with Sapna, Karishma and Vrijesh dancing and singing around Rajev to keep him distracted. Aashka, Delnaaz, Sayantani, Sana and Vrijesh are also seen calming Urvashi down. After a while, Sidhu approaches both Rajev and Urvashi and is seen speaking to them and calming them down.

After a while, when the house is a little settled, the funnyman of the house Vrijesh breaks down in front of Sidhu saying that he cannot bear the fighting in the house. He also adds that people had warned him about the pressures of the show, but he thought he would be able to handle it, but now he can’t. Sidhu being the fatherly figure of the house calms him down as well.

Day 10 in the Bigg Boss house ended with the tempers running high and tears flowing freely. It waits to see what the next day has in store for Urvashi and Rajev as well as the other housemates?

3rd edition of Mahindra Youth Football Challenge to kick off in Bangalore from October 27, 2012

October 18, 2012 Bangalore: The third edition of the Mahindra Youth Football Challenge (MYFC), the country’s largest Under-14 School Football Tournament, will kick off on October 27, 2012 in the garden city of Bangalore, signaling the beginning of intense footballing action. It will then travel to six more cities, before culminating with the best footballers being picked to travel and train with Celtic Football Club.

The Bangalore Intra-City Round of this unique Under-14 School Football Tournament and talent hunt will feature 32 of the leading soccer playing schools from the city, who will compete amongst themselves to bag the honour of ‘Champion School’ of Bangalore. The Bangalore champions will then lock horns with five other champion schools from Delhi, Kolkatta, Kerala (Kochi & Calicut), Mumbai and Goa in the Inter-City Finals to decide the winner of the Mahindra Youth Football Challenge. Playing in seven cities ensures that the tournament casts a wide net to identify some of the most talented junior football players in the country.

MYFC is the Mahindra Group’s commitment to promote football at the grassroots level. The company has partnered with Scottish football giants, Celtic Football Club, who will take on the responsibility of training and grooming young talent, identified through this initiative. This year too MYFC has got on board 92.7 BIG FM, the country’s largest FM network, with 45 radio stations across the country, as the official Radio Partner for this edition of the tournament.

The MYFC initiative is being promoted and executed by leading sports management company, Procam International.

Among the top 32 schools invited to participate in the championships are major names that include Govt. Sports School, St. Alloysius HS, Parikrama Center of Learning, Shri Shri Ravishankar Vidyamandir, Christ Academy, Little Flower English, Karanataka Vidyashala, Presidency International School, Ryan International, Mallya Aditi International, Army Public School, Green Hood International School and St Joseph’s High School.

The second Inter-City Challenge of the Mahindra Youth Football Challenge was won by Pandua S.B.S High School, Kolkata, making it two in a row for Kolkata schools, while Central Reserve Police Force High School, Delhi finished runner-up.

A CHANCE TO LEARN FROM THE BEST: The winning schools from the six cities and their coaches will benefit from a four-day coaching camp to be conducted by a panel of visiting coaches from Celtic Football Club before the Inter-City Challenge. The same panel will then shortlist 22 to 24 players from the Inter-City Challenge who will undergo an intensive four-day coaching clinic, where two to four of the best players will be picked to travel to Scotland and Celtic Football Club for further intensive training.

The ten-day intensive coaching camp in Glasgow with Celtic Football Club will involve individual technique training, multiple sessions of Sports Science Testing, learning the right warm up techniques with the under-17 team, and daily coaching sessions with the Celtic Under-15 team. There will also be opportunities to watch Scottish Premier League Games at Celtic Park involving Celtic FC.

Celtic’s Chief Executive, Peter Lawwell added, “Celtic Football Club is delighted to continue its involvement with the Mahindra Youth Football Challenge for a 3rd consecutive year. We have been impressed with the standard of player and look forward to, once again, hosting this year’s winners at our Youth Academy as they learn what it takes to become a professional football player. AWARDS AND ACCOLADES: There is plenty to play for in the Intra-City stage, with the winners from each city getting Rs. 30,000, the runners-up team, Rs. 20,000 and the 3rd placed winner Rs. 15,000. The teams that reach the last eight stages will be provided with kits, while the winners and runners-up teams will be awarded trophies with each player from these teams getting a kit bag. Similarly, there will be a ‘Star Performer of the Game’ trophy for each match from the quarter-final stage and ‘Best Player of the Tournament’ Trophy to be won.

Going ahead, the champion school of the Mahindra Youth Football Challenge will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000, along with the winner’s trophy, while the runner-up team will win a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and a trophy. There will also be awards such as ‘Star Performer of the Game’ and individual appreciation trophies for the ‘Best Striker’, ‘Best Mid-fielder’, ‘Best Defender’ and ‘Best Goalkeeper’.

Each player from the six teams in the Inter-City League will be given two sets of kit (Jersey, Shorts & Stockings), while travelling, out of pocket expenses during the travel, and lodging & boarding of all the six schools will be taken care of by MYFC.

Rati Agnihotri rides the bike again for “Dehradhun Diary”

Rati Agnihotri who rode a motorbike in Amitabh Bacchan starrer Coolie, will be yet again seen riding a bike for Dehradhun Diary which will be hitting the silver screen on the last week of November 2012 tentatively and is directed by Millind Ukey, whose previous movie was Shahid Kapoor Starrer Paathshala. Dehradhun Diary is a Real Life Controversial Murder Case starring Adhyayan Suman, Ragini Nandwani, Vishal Bhosle, and Neelima Azim.

Director Millind Ukey recalls, “While shooting a bike riding sequence with Ratiji, we had informed Ratiji that a body double will be used as we did not want to take any risk with her riding. Much to our surprise Ratiji responded that she would like to ride the bike herself and there was no need for a body double.” The sequence was Ratiji had to ride the bike with her son sitting behind her. When the shot was called, the entire unit was surprised to see how comfortably Ratiji was driving the bike. Actor Rohitwho plays her son in the movie was very surprised too as Ratiji rode the bike like an expert. A source close to Ratiji says, “For Ratiji this scene was exciting and after a long gap she has again rode a bike and she was thrilled about the same.” A source says, “She was fearless and so poised for the shot that it turned to be a fabulous shot.”

Senior Action Director Mahendra Verma who was the action director of Coolie was also present on the sets to overlook and support Rati ji doing the bike sequence in our film. says Producer Anita Nandwani , “Everybody have become a fan of Ratiji and she is a great actor and highly professional person as well.” The audiences will be in for a delight with this film.

Xerox Banking Innovation Accelerates Availability of Financial Services in India, Other Developing Markets

How It Works

Developed through ethnographers surveying the issues around getting financial services to rural areas, Xerox plans to pilot the technology in kiosks with one of India’s leading banks. These are easy to replicate, install and secure in both remote and densely populated areas. The solution builds upon the capability of Xerox multifunction devices to not only scan hand written forms, but to also interact with the resulting content. This eliminates the need for fully staffed bank branches, reduces paper-based processes and provides clients with a user-friendly experience. A prospective bank client walks up to the kiosk and inputs key information that can accommodate several languages. The system automatically verifies and validates the information, and populates back-end databases with the correct information.

Innovations from Xerox built into the banking solution include:

· Automatic validation of completeness and correctness of handwritten paper forms

· Language conversion of forms without the need for translation

· Secure technology to overcome slow, error-prone data transmission over satellite networks commonly used in rural areas.

18 October 2012: Mahindra Racing today announced the names of four lucky fans that will travel to the Sepang International Circuit on an all-expenses paid trip to experience the thrill of the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix, that is scheduled to be held there from the 19th to 21st October 2012. Sushma Kulkarni (Mumbai), Kanika Juneja & Amandeep Mittal (Bangalore) and Rizwan Siddiquee (Kolkata), will enjoy the once in a lifetime opportunity after winning the team’s ‘Face of Mahindra Racing in Malaysia’ contest.

At the circuit, they will be the face of Team Mahindra Racing, the first Indian team to participate in the FIM MotoGP™ World Motorcycle Racing Championship and the Italian National Motorcycle Racing Championship and cheer for India.

Launched on 27th August 2012, the contest required participants to enter via the closely followed Mahindra Racing Facebook page. In Round 1, the contestants were required to take a quiz on the racing team. Ten male and ten female contestants were then shortlisted on the basis of correct answers after which the voting phase began. The round also included a tie-breaker question – “I should be the face of Mahindra Racing in Malaysia because…” In Round 2, fans voted for one male and one female contestant after getting to know why they deserved to be the ‘Face of Mahindra Racing in Malaysia’. User photos and profiles were showcased in the contest gallery. Bagging maximum votes, Kulkarni, Juneja, Mittal and Siddiquee were chosen as the winners and will travel to Malaysia on an all-expenses paid trip.

Speaking about her victory, contest winner Sushma Kulkarni said, “I’ve been a huge fan of Mahindra Racing and closely follow each of their races. I’m thrilled at winning the contest and can’t wait to be the ‘Face of Mahindra Racing in Malaysia’ and experience all the excitement of the Grand Prix. PLYMOUTH is a great display of South Asian spirit and culture; it ensures the blend of dances and vibrant music. It also displays Bollywood Dance Explosion, a mass participation of dance performance and animates the city with the bright colors and rousing movement of Bollywood. It’s a big draw Tent offering a variety of South Asian arts and crafts; including drawing, bookmaking, silk painting, henna crafts and badge making and etc that makes worth to visit the mela.

Sandip Soparrkar and Jesse Randhawa were invited to show their unbelievable talent at the festival. The duo visited and lightened up the stage as they performed. Their opening performance was for promoting the cause of ‘Save the Tiger’ and closing performance was the ‘Surpanakha and Laxman Piece from the Ramayana Epic’. They had chosen this piece to bring out the Indian story presented in a Latin and ballroom styles, so that all foreigners understand Indian story well.

The Mayor Mr. Wright and the Mayoress were the chief guest for the festival… and Benjamin Mee supported the duo’s act of ‘Save the Tiger’ as he has also made a film called ‘We Bought a Zoo’.

Sandip said, “We were much honored to be invited at the very much famous festival and we performed for a cause too. One of our themes was to ‘Save the Tiger’ and another was ‘Surpanakha and Laxman Piece from the Ramayana Epic’ to educate the foreigners about the Indian story in Latin and Ballroom style.

Jesse added, “All the people were very soft spoken and so sweet. They welcomed as so warmly and they enjoyed our performance too… and Mr. Benjamin Mee even supported us for our act on ‘Save the Tiger’. We met Mayor and Mayoress and they were so kind and appreciated our performances and wished us a happy and successful life. I really enjoyed being at the Plymouth festival.”

Well, Sandip Soparrkar and Jesse Randhawa succeeded in winning the hearts of the people and the Mayor and Mayoress at the Plymouth Festival still they have a long way to go to conquer the hearts around the globe…

Manasi Rachh

“I will do what it takes, because I am a go getter”

It was perhaps her charm in adverts directed by renowned directors in their own right, that caught the eye of Bollywood’s kingpin Karan Johar to cast her for his upcoming Student Of The Year. But it was her talent and experience which comes from her widely acclaimed theatre performance already applauded by critics that clinched the deal enough for Manasi Rachh to star in the much awaited film of the year. She essays a role she doesn’t exactly relate to, yet understands it perfectly well. Mansee Dabral interviews this student sans the checkered uniform yet with all the playful schoolgirl bellicosity that her role demands.

A relative newcomer with just two movies behind you, how did you manage to procure your role in a Dharma Production?

That’s true,I consider myself really lucky, because after Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge, which was my debut and Charlie Ke Chakkar Main, which is not even released yet, things went really smooth for me as a newcomer. Nandini Shrikent who was casting for Student of the Year, called me in for auditions. For the first round I had to read lines from another film, and two weeks she called in again and this time they had dialogues from the film itself, for which I did my part and left. After a few days I got a call from the production department saying I had got the role.Things were really that simple and it moved very fast from there. It was so exciting!

What’s your character like in the movie?

I play this character called Shruti Pathak, who is Shania’s (Alia’s Bhatt’s) best friend in the movie. She is this really head strong girl who has to always fight to prove her mettle as she doesn’t like playing second fiddle to Shania. The character is outspoken and doesn’t shy from calling a spade a spade. She is also extremely ambitious and focused on her sport.

Does your character draw parallels to the person you are yourself?

My character is defiantly very strong, but as a person she just doesn’t know how to have fun! I am completely the opposite. I am way more fun, chilled out and bubbly! Yes, I am very aggressive when it comes to my work and I will do what it takes because I am a go-getter, but on the personal front, I am random if anything. I don’t harbour any angst within. I like to write, paint bottles, indulge in the creatives. I am not angry with life like my character is.

You sound almost an antidote to your character, how difficult is it to essay roles that are so contrasting?

It was challenging for sure, but after a point when you understand where it is going, then it gets into your system. You have to understand why she is doing certain things, and for this, I would give Karan (Johar) full credit. No matter how random my questions were, he would explain patiently and in depth, giving enough on the character and the reasons for why they behave a certain way, so I always had a back story in my head going on. When you are convinced about your character and their mental make up, it doesn’t become that difficult.

Karan Johar is a director every actor worth his grain of ambition in Bollywood wants to work with at some point, and you got this chance really early on in your career, how was the feeling and the experience of being directed by him?

If there is one word for Karan, it is simply that he is SO sorted. He knows exactly what he wants from his characters, from his sets…it is like he has played the movie a hundred times in his head before it is even shot! The strange thing is, when I first knew I had to work with him, I took it in a very matter of factly fashion, as I have worked with other big names like Prasoon Pandey and Sujit Sarkar before. But when I met Karan for the first time, his humility intimidated me. I was so in awe of him because you look at him and realize he is so big, and yet he talks to you like you are a buddy. As a person, I have never seen someone who is so talented, and yet so humble, and as a director, his attention to detail, his sense of grandeur is truly unmatched.

Moving onto the cast ensemble share something about the three leads, Alia, Sidhhart and Varun. What kind of energy did the three bring to the sets?

Alia: I have to say, she is very talented and very sincere with her work. She is a very pretty looking girl, and is a true sweetheart. Since she was also the youngest one on sets, everyone would keep pulling her leg but it was all done in good spirits! And there were times when we were shooting together, where I would forget I am doing a scene, because it all felt so real, because we were constantly playing off each other, it has been great! There were times in Bangkok where we partied together and just chilled in Dehradoon post pack up as a whole group.

Varun: In one word, Awesome! Varun is so talented, and on and off the sets he was always up to something! He was so humble one couldn’t believe he was David Dhawan’s son! He would come and greet everyone on the sets, talk to everyone..Varun is truly a great guy!

Siddharth: We hardly had any scenes together except a dance sequence and Siddhart as a person is also quieter and focused, so did not get a chance to interact much with him, but he is really dedicated and a true professional.

Take us behind the scenes on the movie and in your own preparations of what went into making of Student of The Year for you?

What I personally prepared and trained for this film was to learn how to swim! The role demanded me to be a state level swimmer, which meant I had to train and go from being a non swimmer to getting every stroke right to look convincing enough to play a trained swimmer. The team of Rob Miller who also coached on Chak De, were deployed to train us, and I went into intensive training for this. So yes from being someone who probably couldn’t swim to save her life, today I have grown to enjoy the waters thoroughly!

Tell us something more about your other upcoming release, Charlie Ke Chakkar Main?

With Charlie Ke Chakkar Main, the movie, my role everything is a complete reversal from what Student of the Year is all about. Where SOTY is a clean, happy, young and refreshing comic love story, Charlie Ke Chakkar Main belongs to the darker genre, where there is everything from crime to mafia to the harsher realities of life intertwined and brought out through a complicated and intense screenplay. It is an ensemble cast which includes the likes of Naseeruddin Shah. But being a part of the film was a very instinctive decision for which I did not think too much. I simply went ahead because I loved the team so much, they were such warm people and shooting has been so much fun! The film was shot on a shoe string budget, within a span of twenty days, and being a part of it has been one of the best experiences of my life!

“The City that Never Sleeps” Movie will Break 20 Guinness world record

The Bollywood producer Satish Reddy and producer Director Haroon Rashid had done world’s longest one shot film “One Shot Fear without Cut” which is 2 hours 20 minute long completely one take movie on a single camera. Mumbai: The Lions Club of Mumbai and Mamtamai Shree Radhe Guru Maa have taken an oath to Afforestation on October 15, 2012.They have taken an initiative called – Go Green, Save Earth. The aim of this social activity is to plant trees and promote eco-friendly ways of living.

Mamtamai Shree Radhe Guru Maa believes that due to the Greenhouse effect and Global Warming, today the climate has been polluted by gases let out from industries and automobiles. Hence, it is very important for us to restore the green cover through planting, restricted use of plastic and fuel efficient or eco-friendly mode of transportation.

Today, we are facing lot of environmental problems, therefore in association with The Lions Club Mumbai, Mamtamai Shree Radhe Guru Maa initiated Cycle Rally in Mumbai. With an aim to keep our future generation conscious about environment issues and its consequences. More than hundred participant spread awareness about the objectives of Go Green, Save Earth initiative across Mumbai on cycle.

For the record, Radhe Guru Maa’s darshans are held every alternate Saturday at the Radhe Maa Bhavan in Borivali. This does not include any fee and open to all.

Presented by Fox star Studios, the film stars Imran Khan, Anushka Sharma and Arya Babbar in the lead roles while Pankaj Kapoor and Shabana Azmi appear in the supporting roles.

Episodic Synopsis – Day 9

Chai vs Coffee in the Bigg Boss house

The housemates wake up to the grand song from Jodha Akbar – ‘Azeem- o– Shaan’. Chota Boss aka Vrijesh wakes up royally in his master bed and walks around the house in a rather majestic style, making sure his subordinates salute him and honor him by waking up thoroughly. Urvashi & Aashka are seen in their favorite area – the kitchen. Urvashi express her discomfort against Niketan as he had left the gas on the whole night and is seen complaining to Bigg Boss about the unforeseen/fatal consequences it could have caused. The rest of the housemates are seen hanging out in the garden area. Chota Boss (Vrijesh) makes martial arts expert, Khasif & the bodybuilder, Niketan take off their shirts and arm wrestle in front of everyone. The boys happily accept the challenge and entertain the housemates.

Khasif is later advised by Chota Boss to teach Aseem Trivedi some ‘Karate’. Khasif is seen teaching Aseem with much interest & passion. Chota Boss also assigns Karishma a task of speaking only in Hindi at her loudest pitch. Sayantani is assigned the task of assembling all the housemates for Chota Boss’ ‘Sabha’ in the garden area. Vrijesh addresses all the housemates in his trademark style, amusing all the housemates who had a hearty laugh at the funny tasks that were assigned to them. After a while, Bigg Boss announces the conclusion of the luxury budget task.

Meanwhile, Urvashi, Aashka & Delnaaz are seen discussing about Niketan hiding the coffee in the house and telling everyone that the coffee is over. Simultaneously, Sapna, Niketan, Rajeev and Karishma are seen discussing about coffee as well. A little later Urvashi climbs up a chair to reach the top of the fridge to get some food. She finds the coffee hidden there and that begins the war between the ‘Tea’ & ‘Coffee’ drinkers. Urvashi reaches out to her buddies Aashka & Delnaaz for support. As the three ‘bahus’ of the house lose it, Vrijesh is called in to calm tempers down. On the other side, Niketan and the ‘Coffee’ gang share a laugh as they feel the ladies are acting immature and creating an issue for such a petty joke. When confronted by the ladies, Niketan adds that he had kept the Coffee on top of the fridge and was only joking when he said that the coffee was over as he thought everyone knew about it.

The war goes on about how the ‘Tea’ drinkers always make tea for all the housemates whereas the ‘Coffee’ drinkers are selfish & rude by hiding the coffee. The house is split into two halves and the housemates will be seen ranting and raving about the same. Soon Bigg Boss announces the luxury budget and the housemates resolve their major issue temporarily and discuss what they can buy for the house. The housemates get 20 minutes to decide what they want and Bigg Boss gifts Vrijesh two papayas and Sampat Pal an additional 200 points for doing such a fabulous job in the task. Surprisingly, the housemates decide the luxury budget without many conflicts. The erratic day comes to an end with Vrijesh in a monologue with the washroom camera. He addresses how mind boggled he is with the various issues the housemates are developing over the days and how being a captain is leaving him in a helpless situation.

New Delhi, October, 2012: Jaypee Sports International Limited (JPSI) has announced the schedule for the second edition of Indian Grand Prix which will take place at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC), Greater Noida, on October 26 – October 28.

Motorsport Fans will get a chance to experience the adrenaline rush of F1 up close and personal on October 26 with the first practice session scheduled for 10 AM. It will be followed by a second practice session from 2 PM to 3.30 PM. JK Racing Asia Series and MRF Challenge 2012 will be the two support races for the Indian GP.

The all-important qualifying will begin at 2 PM on October 27, which will be preceded by the one-hour long third practice session from 11 AM. The final race will be flagged off at 3 PM on October 28.
