Pink Floyd To Release First New Album in 20 Years

‘The Endless River’ is due out this fall

Pink Floyd, the 1970s rock band known for its lush musical textures and meditative take on existence, will release its first new album in two decades. The album, titled The Endless River, will be released in October.

The album “is Rick Wright’s swansong and very beautiful,” Polly Samson, the wife of guitarist Gilmour, said in a Twitter post. Wright, a founding member of the band, died in 2008.

Durga McBroom-Hudson, one of the band’s touring singers, said the recordings on The Endless River began as a side project to 1994’s The Division Bell, the band’s last album of new music.

“It was originally to be a completely instrumental recording, but I came in last December and sang on a few tracks,” McBroom-Hudson wrote in a Facebook post.

The band had just celebrated the 20th anniversary of 1994’s The Division Bell with an extravagant reissue of the album on July 1st. The new material appears to be connected to unreleased recordings made during the Division Bell sessions.
