Parveen Khan’s First Music Album “KINAARA” Launched

First Music Album of singer & actress Parveen Khan’s “KINAARA” was launched with great funfair at Presidential Hall, Khar Gymkhana, Mumbai on 1st June 2012 by hands of veteran Music Director Ravindra Jain, album is released by Venus Cassettes & Records, and is produced by IQRA Productions. Function was well attended by huge number of media persons along with celebrities and singers like music director Shravan Rathore (Nadeem-Shravan), Dharmesh Tiwari of CINTAA, singer Ravi Tripathi & Altamash Faridi along with Munna Ji of Venus Cassettes. A cake cutting ceremony was held after the preview of videos of album KINAARA by Ravindra Jain & Parveen Khan. The entire event was organized by Arun Fatehpuri.


Singer and Actress Parveen Khan hails from a musical family from Pune and in her childhood time she was attracted toward music because her parents were occasionally use to sing Sufiyana Kallams on various Dargahs, and during her school days she use to take part in different functions, one of her teacher was so impressed by her singing ability that she use to provoke her to take up music as her career, which she did and now currently she is being trained by veteran music director Ravindra Jain from last few years.

Now “KINAARA” is her first music album released by Champak Jain of Venus Cassettes & Records and produced by IQRA Productions which has 7 songs rendered and performed by Parveen Khan (4 solo numbers & 3 duets with Suresh Wadkar, Javed Ali, Ravi Tripathi & Altamash Faridi) with lyrics & music by Ravindra Jain.

Mumbai, 1st June, 2012: Today, the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) revealed that the youngest member of Hindi Cinema’s first family, Ranbir Kapoor will perform on stage for the first time at the Jaypee Group IIFA Awards this month. Serial “KUL KI JYOTI KANYA” inspired by Aamir Khan`s Satyamev Jayte

Female Foeticide has become a grave matter of concern ever since the issue was voiced on national television. However, it was not the first time that such matters have been raised by Indian television. Prior to this, there have been serials that have raised the similar issue. But the man behind to bring these issues once again in forefront has been Actor Aamir Khan and his serial “Satyamev Jayate”

Earlier the serials like “Ghar ki Lakshmi Betiyann” and “Betiyan apni yaa paraya dhan” have tried to bring such an issue in limelight. And yet another effort is now being taken by DD which brings a serial “KUL KI JYOTI KANYA”.

The serial which will air from 7th June daily on DD at 12:00 noon 5 days a week, is directed by Alok Nath Dixit, a very well-known name specially for Doordarshan serials and is produced by D.S.Productions.

The story of the serial revolves around a male centric family wherein the father wants a male child and disapproves of his daughters. When his wife is pregnant for the third time he gives up the hopes of she giving birth to a boy and throws her out of the house and marries another woman who gives birth to two boys. But with the age the father realizes who the real gem of his life ever was…the daughter whose birth he so ill-favoured ! On the other hand all the miseries in his life are brought by his sons and when he is ill-treated by the sons; his daughters take care of him!

Deepak Sharma, the producer of the serial says, “Our world revolves around women and they are indeed an important part of our lives-our mothers ,our sisters, our aunts- all these women have important place in our life. We owe our existence to them. And when you get a chance to do a good deed like spreading a good word about them, why not do it! I am glad to have associated with this serial because I too have lovely little angle and she is as precious to me as a boy would have been.”

Music: Bringing Indian Cinema Alive

MUSIC. Synonymous with Bollywood. Played long after the film’s credits roll.

International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) takes a look at the process of creating these immortal tunes, lyrics and songs. The music created transcends our cinema beyond Indian shores reaching millions of film fans, everyday. IIFA too, lays emphasis on Indian music through the IIFA Music Workshop – ‘Music: Bringing Indian Cinema Alive’ exploring the elements that go into the creation of a song from the composition and lyrics to the arrangement and singing.

The workshop will feature a host of eminent personalities including Film Directors like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Zoya Akhtar, Music Composers Vishal & Shekhar and Shantanu Moitra, Lyricists Javed Akhtar and Prasoon Joshi. Industry veteran, Atul Churamani will be moderating this session with the film directors and musicians. They will be seen sharing anecdotes, trivia, and personal experiences from their own films for an interactive session with the audience.

The unique aspect of this workshop will be the element of spontaneity and the birth of brand new songs created before a LIVE audience. Fore.g., a film situation will be given by one of the film directors to which a composer delivers a tune after which lyrics are introduced. Likewise, in another scenario presented by another director, a set of lyrics will be introduced first and then the tune will be created. The songs that come out of these situations will then be sung and performed by a set of renowned singers from the industry. There will be an illustrious line-up of Indian singers who are expected to attend the event including Ash King, Hariharan, Harshdeep Kaur, Kamal Khan, Lesle Lewis, Mika, Mohit Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal and Usha Uthup among others.

Sachin Tendulkar’s Children’s Day Out in Mumbai

~ In a bid to celebrate the 100th school under NDTV-Coca Cola ‘Support My School’ campaign, Sachin spends valuable time with the children of Priyadarshani School ~

Mumbai, June 1, 2012: NDTV and Coca-Cola India along with the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar today celebrated the completion of the 100th school under the ‘Support My School’ initiative. As part iof the celebrations, campaign Ambassador Sachin Tendulkar spent valuable time with the children of Priyadarshani School, Mumbai.

Continuing their support to various schools nationally, Priyadarshani School in Mumbai became 100th school to benefit from NDTV-Coca Cola ‘Support My School’ initiative. To commemorate this milestone, Sachin Tendulkar, who actively participated in the success of the campaign, visited the school personally today. Not only did he inspect the school, but also interacted with the school children and advised that they must maintain a balance between studies and extra-curricular activities

Few talented students of the school entertained Sachin by performing small acts on Shivaji Maharaj and Savitribai Phule which was thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated by him. Additionally, Sachin also played cricket and badminton with the school children. Later, the school children enthusiastically participated in a Dahi handi act in which the handis were smashed with one of the stumps.

However, Sachin made sure to inculcate the importance of studies and coming regularly to school with the students. He also mentioned that with the funds, the school introduced appropriate sanitation facilities especially for girl students, rainwater harvesting facilities, and play area for the students and most importantly special training for teachers so they can share the same with the school’s students. He also inaugurated the computer room and library issuing the first book to a student which didn’t exist until the campaign helped the school.

Who sourced Leno’s sherwani?


Sophie Choudry has found a new friend — in American TV chat show host Jay Leno. She not only dressed him up for a recent minifilm, she also gave music to the project that features Leno’s Indian car.

And courtesy their budding closeness, the singeractor will now host the international celebrity on his forthcoming trip to India.

Leno, known for his extensive car collection, recently welcomed a low- cost Indian four- wheeler into his elite garage. He even commissioned a minifilm to capture the entire process — from production to its ultimate delivery in Los Angeles.

The British- Indian singer created the background music for this project. And naturally, Sophie is thrilled about her association with the international celebrity. “ I’m glad that they decided to use three of my songs for the film. It’s an honour to a part of his pet project,” she says.

Though she hasn’t met Leno yet, she’s in touch with him via email.

In fact, it was her idea to dress him up in traditional Indian attire for the minifilm.

She notes, “ I suggested to the team they get Jay out of his usual denims and put him in a sherwani for this episode.

Fortunately, they loved the idea so I got them connected with Delhi- based couturier Manav Gangwani who designed it.” Ironically, the outfit cost more than the car, a Tata Nano! According to Sophie, Leno is gearing up to visit India next year. “ I’m looking forward to hosting him in 2013. I’d be more than happy to show him around Mumbai and introduce him to some of the coolest folks in the city and fellow car- enthusiasts like himself. He arranged an Indian dance troupe in LA to welcome the car but I’ll be giving him a grand Indian welcome,” she adds.

Making a comeback

For a long while, Sophie has been out of the media’s radar but she insists she has been busy performing live on stage and corporate events. “I guess I should be going out more and meeting people for good work,” the Mumbai-based siren assures, “You’ll be seeing more of me in the future.”

Mumbai, June 01, 2012: SAB TV, India’s leading family comedy entertainment channel, new show Bhai, Bhaiya Aur Brother, is all set to premiere on Monday, June 4th at 8pm.

The story is about the Chawla Family and the three brothers living in 3 different parts of the world with their respective families. The elder brother, Anil Chawla, lives in Gujarat, the middle brother, Rajeev Chawla lives in Mumbai and the younger brother, Sameer Chawla, lives in UK.

Rajeev Chawla aka Chirag Vohra introduces his family and reiterates the promise made to their father. The three brothers will have to fulfill the promise and convince their respective families to live together in Mumbai.

Bollywood villains Shakti Kapoor & Mukesh Rishi launch Director Ramesh Modi’s painting exhibition ‘Dialogue with Silence’ on June 1

Mumbai Famous bollywood villains Shakti Kapoor and Mukesh Rishi today opened a painting and photo exhibition ‘Dialogue with Silence’ by Bollywood director Ramesh Modi. The event saw launching of Ramesh Modi’s book on poetry “Khamoshiyan.” Two Music albums ‘Sai hain Dulhare Mere’ and ‘Chalo Kamakhya Ke Dar Pe,” from ‘Ramee Music’ were also launched.

Reshma Modi, wife of Ramesh Modi, who is also an actress by her own right, stood shoulder to shoulder with her husband and said that she is very proud of him.
About his interest in paintings and poems, Ramesh Modi said that he used to paint and write poetry when he was in school. When he came to Mumbai, his friend encouraged him to display them at the Bengali Art Club. His paintings, which had a poem on the bottom, were a hit. On photography he said that, he once clicked the photographs of his village swallowed up by river Brahmaputra. When he got the films washed in Mumbai, the studio asked him who shot the pictures. Afraid that the pictures were bad, Ramesh Modi said that it was shot by someone in his village. The studio owner said that they were were good photos and Ramesh Modi got a boost in his confidence, although did not get credit for the photos. He said that he couldn’t pursue his hobbies for a long time after entering the Hindi Movie industry.

Shakti Kapoor said that Ramesh Modi began his career as an assistant directer to K.C.Bokadia. Later he went on to direct his own movies and television serials.The event was attended by actress Mamta Patel, Singer Priya Bhattacharya, Director Ravi Tondon, Singer Sudhakar Sharma, writer Archana Johari,Rajesh Johari, Jyoti Kothari, Ishan Modi, Champshi bhai, Samay Modi and others.

The exhibition will run from June 1 – 3 June 2012, in Vagad Banquet Hall at Adarsh Nagar on Jogeshwari Oshiwara link road in Andheri West,Mumbai. On 2nd and 3rd, the exhibition will run from 11.00 AM to 8.00 PM.
