Radhe Maa initiates ‘Vastra Daan’

Mumbai. The freedom of women in India has become a great matter of national concern: increasing insecurity issues for women, female foeticide and crime against girl child have raised many questions which are not being answered by anyone. The hard fact reveals that the “Girl Child” is now being disowned by their own parents and end up growing in orphanages. But, keeping the promise to serve the society, Radhe Guru Maa, the mother of kindness and compassion believes in serving everyone without exception. The devotees of Radhe Maa have shown special concern for “Girl Child’ and extended their support to “Mentally disabled” people.

The devotees reached at the “Bal Bhavan-Girl Child Orphanage” where they have donated clothes and exchanged warmth with each other on October 10, 2012.

Whereas in Shanti Daan, more than hundred mentally challenged people received clothes form Radhe Maa’s devotees and cherished every moment. The inmates over here are not only deprived of love and care, but also faced denial from their own family. The disciples of Mamtamai Shree Radhe Guru Maa, came together to experience the joy of giving love, care and affection to God’s closest souls.

The manager of Shanti Daan, Issac said “These people are very special to God, they don’t ask for more than love. We really felt good when the devotees of Shree Radhe Guru Maa spent quality time with them.”

For the record, Radhe Guru Maa’s darshans are held every alternate Saturday at the Radhe Maa Bhavan in Borivali. This does not include any fee and open to all.

Actress Reema Sharma strips nude for Newz88 to protest auto/taxi fare hike

The Mumbai chapter of the Citizens Action Forum – an NGO and Newz88 launched a novel protest against the arbitrary fare hike of auto rickshaws and taxis in Mumbai. They roped in well-known model and actress Reema Sharma to pose in the buff for a photo shoot. Says Reema, “I was approached by Newz88 to do a bold shoot for an awareness campaign against the large number of tampered fare meters in use by taxis and auto rickshaws in Mumbai. I have absolutely no qualms about posing nude for this shoot as it is a major issue, affecting lakhs of commuters and passengers in Mumbai with a few thousand auto and taxi drivers holding the entire city to ransom with their threats to go on strike.” Reema Sharma has done 3 films in the south and has recently signed on a Tamil film in the main lead. She is also seen in several print and TV commercials.

A press release from Newz88 says, “According to unofficial yet reliable figures, over 50 per cent of the old mechanical auto rickshaw meters and about 30 per cent of taxi meters are tampered, resulting in highly inflated fares. Auto drivers also use fake tariff cards to con passengers. These practices are completely illegal and commuters are royally fleeced by the rogue drivers who also refuse to ferry passengers over short distances. Many drivers use the older meters which are very unreliable and tend to “jump”. Even the electronic meters in use are not calibrated with the latest fare structure and auto drivers use their own “discretion” to charge customers. The new fare has come into effect from 11th October, but auto and taxi meters are not calibrated with the new structure. Drivers – most of them who have not yet understood the structure are arbitrarily charging consumers who are being fleeced en masse.

The Citizens Action Forum in association with Newz88 has planned a series of protests against what it terms “arbitrary discretion” of the Transport Authority, State Government and the auto and taxi drivers. The consumer or passenger has no discretion or say in this matter.

pisodic synopsis – Day 4

Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham with a dash of Bhangra in the Bigg Boss house

Vim and vigor marks Day 4 at the Bigg Boss house which started with a peppy and perky wake-up song ‘Subah hogayi Mamu’. But sadly it wasn’t a peppy morning for Aashka who will be seen crying (again!) in the washroom. Disturbed by the way Rajeev and Vrijesh are behaving with her due to the household issues, she shares her concerns with Sidhhu and Delnaz.

The luxury budget task given by Bigg Boss has finally come to an end with Sidhu being nominated as the housemate who made the least contribution in the task, by the captain Niketan. And since every mistake has its own repercussions, Sidhu is given a punishment that is divided in two parts – cooking for the entire house and performing a Bhangra number wherein all the women in the house will be seem joining him.

This punishment, however wasn’t really a punishment for Sidhu who emerged as the true kitchen King with the houesmates dancing, singing and cracking jokes around him whilst the preparation were going on. He is also given an option of choosing one person who would help him verbally in the recipe and he was smart enough to choose Aashka, the only housemate who is thorough with her cooking expertise.

The story of the estranged couple took a turn for worse, as Delnaaz confronts Rajeev about his behavior and directs him to not hold her hand etc as she feels he is doing all this for the camera. At the same time, upholding his promise to Rajeev, Sidhu is seen trying to convince Aashka and Vrijesh to help him get Rajeev and Delnaz back together. However, Aashka being a true friend is seen advising Delnaaz to go from ‘singular to plural’ and doesn’t say anything about Rajeev.

Simultaneously, there is a rift on the other side of the house as well. Sampat Pal and Vrijesh seem to be ill at ease with each other after Ammaji aka Sampat Pal holds Vrijesh by the collar (during one of his funny acts). Not appreciating her behavior, Vrijesh walks off and will be seen discussing this with other housemates telling all about how Sampat is taking him for a ride and taking undue advantage of the respect he is giving her.

As the sun sets on the Bigg Boss sky, the house thumps to some Punjabi tadka with the housemates prepping for the evening’s performance. It’s time for the second part of Sidhhu’s punishment. All the girls seemed very excited about the task and start getting ready in their punjabi attires. All the soni kudis practice before the final performance and Sidhhu seems to love all the femme-fatale! They give an incredible performance and suddenly seem like one big happy family!

But this is not where the day ended.. A harsh decision was taken by Urvashi and Niketan against Kashif the common man. They are seen discussing about how they should ignore him completely as he has been annoying everyone.

Well, only time will prove how much this decision will affect him and if the other celebrities also join Urvashi and Niketan in leaving the commoner alone. After all, as they say, it’s the survival of the fittest.

Claudia’s strong taste for South

It is the Indian spices that attracted the Britishers to India; it was one of the reasons for the birth of the historical silk route. Indian food and spices have a great demand overseas. The Indian food and culture has not just wooed the world but health conscious models too are attracted towards it. One such model food connoisseur is the India based German Model Claudia Ciesla.

Claudia entered the Indian soils with her admission in controversial house of Bigg Boss but to test the water she stayed back in the mayanagri even after her eviction from the house and now years later you see a complete transformation of this model-actress into an Indian. India has become her home and she finds utter delight in relishing the Indian food.

“I love gorging idilis and masala dosa and in sweets I love Rasagullas!” she beams. Claudia has probably by now forgotten the taste of the German cuisines and maintains a strong taste for the steamed idlis of south and rasgullas of Bengal. But with the culture and cuisine as diverse as ours Claudia will probably spend a life time learning about more such Indian delicacies.

‘A man chased me with a garland in his hand. I was terrified! Sridevi confides to Sid K on Oye 104.8FM

Oye! 104.8 FM Sabse Filmi, went English Vinglish with Bollywood star Sridevi as she spoke her heart out on renowned host Sid K’s show Oye! Talkies.

To Sid K’s question on what she does to look so young at her age, Sridevi replied, ‘The reason I look young is because I have Rasam and Sambhar everyday’. She further revealed something that no one knew. While she was shooting for English Vinglish in Pune, a guy dressed up like a groom chased her in the middle of the road with a garland in his hand. She of course got terrified until she realised that he was only a fan who was about to get married but saw her on the road and left his wedding just to say Hi to her.

She went on a confessing spree on Sid K’s show, saying ‘I am a parrot. I just mug up my lines and I have done that all my life as I am not that fluent in any of the languages whether it is Hindi, English, Malayalam or Tamil .

Sridevi poured her heart out about her family life saying that she gets very upset with her two kids and her husband Boney Kapoor when she cooks affectionately for them, but they refuse to come to the table for dinner as her hubby is always busy on the phone and her kids are always playing video games. She then howls at them and the moment she does that, they quietly come and take their seats on the dinner table. She claims that she has now sorted out her family members.

She also confessed that she is very sensitive and gets hurt easily. Though, in front of her family, she is a joker and her family members keep pulling her leg on small things and she makes them laugh, even when she is serious as they don’t take her seriously most of the time.
She further added ‘I have a problem with numbers, I remember only 4 numbers. My husband’s, two kids and my sister’s number, besides that I don’t have a clue who else to call.’

Sid told her that he found out from sources close to her, that she is terrified of cats and runs in the opposite direction when she sees one. To this, Sridevi emotionally replied ‘When I was kid, my pet cat that was my heart and soul passed away. Since then I feel sad when I see cats.’

Sid brought up the topic about Ram Gopal Varma and how Ramu was obsessed about her and publicly said that he was envious of Boney Kapoor because he married Sridevi. Sridevi blushed saying that-‘When I heard Ramu’s statement initially I was very embarrassed. But when I thought about it, I realised it was one of the best compliments I got.’

When Sid asked her who among the new actresses had the potential to be a superstar? Without batting an eyelid, the diva said ‘Deepika Padukone though Vidya, Priyanka and Sonakshi are also very impressive.’

Sid told her that he has watched her song ‘Kaante Nahi Katte’ from Mr. India a thousand times, Sridevi said that it was not known to anyone that while filming that legendary song she was running high fever at 103 degrees.

It was Sid K’s time to confess that he has always had a crush on her and would love to take her on romantic date one day. Sridevi giggled saying ‘My idea of a romantic date is a long drive, soothing music and a quiet dinner, so maybe Sid K should take a cue from that.’ To this Sid K told her that he would wait for hours below her house, till the time she would say yes to his dinner date.

Sridevi then gave Sid K a compliment saying ‘This is one of my most enjoyable chats ever.’ Well coming from a superstar who has spent more than 4 decades in the film industry, this sure is a compliment of a lifetime to Sid K and Oye! 104.8FM Sabse Filmi.

Friends Anusha Srinivasan Iyer and Romeer Sen come together to give Cocktail Pictures’ Login its due. The film is all set for an October 12 release…

“Filmmaking is about passion. It is an irony that while we talk of Indian film industry brimming with creativity, we don’t even think twice before refusing theatres to independent filmmakers, who invest two years of their life and funds mostly personal to make their celluloid dreams come true. Hence, I decided to take up the task of getting small films the release they deserve,” says Anusha Srinivasan Iyer, Associate Producer, Login, the film about us who are connected online almost ever, but totally disconnected in life.

The story began when Anusha saw director Sanjeev Reddy and producer Rajkumar Ponugupati struggle to give their film its due. “People appreciated it, said the music was cool, but the commitment about funds never translated into reality,” says director Sanjeev Reddy.

Finally, Anusha decided to take up the film with the young makers, both techies from Hyderabad, and give the film its due. Says Anusha, “my friend Romeer Sen from the Katha Group and I were discussing a music company to help these young makers. And before we put pen to paper, here was a young man with almost negligible funds waiting to give his film its due. Romeer didn’t think twice before saying ayes to my thought and here we are Katha Entertainment that has taken on Login music and the film is all set for an Oct 12 release.”

It was not easy sailing though. “We gave Login marketing against music, but the music is yet to be put up online. The timeframe was too short and we needed to focus energies on the release. Cinemax more than willingly offered their support and thanks to Girish Wankhede, the film finally got a Cinemax national release,” enthuses Anusha Iyer.

Extensive hoardings across the country, a tie-up with Radio Mirchi and Zee group, DSN, railways and entertainment ads ensured awareness was created around the film. “We coupled this with a celeb screening and previews to ensure more visibility in the media. Unfortunately for us, we did not have the budgets for paid print and as the film is conceptually brilliant but lack the so-called star value, the newspapers did not give us the much-needed space required for independent filmmakers. Nevertheless, our hoarding campaign covered the space,” explains Romeer Sen.

Besides Girish Wankhede, friends like Sapna Patel and Hema of Shlok Media, designer Gyanchand of Digilocks, Zuber of Fortune Lifeline and Minmax, Manish who handled the hoardings, Nidhesh Godha who helped with tie-ups, Nandini Viswanathan and team of Naarad PR & Image strategists, Prabhu and Narayan of Khodal, and of course the hoards of people who communicated their best wishes made the difference as the film is hitting the marquee. “On being given a standing ovation t Hyderabad, young director Sanjeev Reddy was moved to tears.”

What next? “Login is just the beginning,” says Anusha Iyer. “There are many more independent filmmakers, people who have made movies from the heart and are awaiting an outlet. WE are there to fulfil that space. We already specialise in publicity, marketing and release strategies besides image Building and music is one more melodious dimension.” Touche!
