The movie ‘Avatar’ provided the inspiration for the prêt-a-porter collection, designed by the first year and the foundation course students. The style lines have been beautifully incorporated in imitation of the Avatarian body with simple crisp silhouettes with basic techniques such as digital printing and surface texturing. Aimed for the Asian market, the collection merged fantasy with wearable fashion.

The Nzuri collection was a ready-to-wear high street collection. Nzuri, meaning ‘the beautiful’ in Swahili, showcased the beauty of the various tribes of Africa. The collection saw glimpses of the tradition and culture of rustic tribes through techniques like digital printing, embroidery and fabric manipulation. Targeted for Autumn/Winter 2013, the collection used leather, jersey and tweed constructed into chic layerings. The collection was unveiled and shot in Mauritius by FAD International students earlier this year.

The Grand finale, A Dramatic Goddesses of War inspired Haute Couture line had the guests on their feet for the FAD GEN-Next designers. The fashion students from FAD International paid homage to warrior goddesses, each selected from mythologies across the globe and inspired by her very personality. The collection used various hues and colors and surface ornamentation techniques to the best of the abilities of the students. The collection was a theatrical in itself with an Avantgarde set up for the grand finale.

The Fashion Theatrical was managed, conceived and creatively directed by students in Fashion Marekting & Comuicaton and styled by the styling students at FAD International. The fashion collections will now be flown to Europe in September over 21 days of a fashion shoots with photography students shooting in Paris, Rome, Milan, London Barceolna and Ibiza
