Actor and producer John Abraham was delighted to be a part of Jai Hind College’s 11th alumni reunion as Chief Guest at Nehru Centre Auditorium, Worli in Mumbai on February 1, 2014. Present on this occasion were Prof N.W. Shivdasani, Mr. Ramesh Taurani (Tips Industries), Mr. Niranjan Hiranandani (Chairman – Hiranandani Construction), Mr. Nikhil Chaturvedi (Provogue), Mr. Kailash Agarwal (Founder of Varun Industries), Mr. Warij Kasliwal (S. Kumar), Mr. Sandeep Raheja (K. Raheja Group), Dr. Rupa Shah (Former Vice Chancellor), Dr. Hemant Thacker (Dynamic Cardiologist), Mr. Ashwin Dani (Asian Paints), Mr. Nanik Rupani ( Priyadarshini Academy, Indo American Society), Harinder Singh (Percept Ltd) and many other dignitaries.

John himself is an alumnus of the college which has other big names like Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Isha Kopikar, Kajal Aggarwal, Malaika Arora Khan, Ramesh Sippy, Sunil Dutt, Neeta Lulla, Atul Kasbekar, Hiten Tejwani, Natasha Suri and Ajay Piramal to name a few.

Like every year, Jai Hind Alumni Association organized this get- together where the illustrious ex – students were acknowledged for their outstanding performances and for being torch – bearers of Jai Hind College. Prof. N.W. Shivdasani welcomed the Alumni members later was followed by musical jugalbandi by talented classical singer Kaajal Chandiramani and versatile Toshi Sabri drowning the audience in melodious evening.

Prof N.W. Shivdasani, Secretary, Jai Hind College Alumni Association said, “We have begun this alumni association in 2002 with a handful of students and the main purpose was to collect database of students. Today we have reached to the 11th alumni reunion and with each passing year we are developing this”. Being the backbone of Jai Hind Alumni Association Prof Shivdasani also announced his retirement in June 2014 after being associated with the college for last five decades promising everyone that his soul belongs to college and will always be.

John Abraham said “I am one of the blessed proud jaihindites who not only did his major in economics from Jai Hind but like any other student roamed around roads A and B… Today being called here as a Chief guest makes me really feel embarrassed. I would love to be associated with Jai Hind Alumni Association and my professor who still scold me as an ex student only.”

Jai Hind Alumni Association represents the alumni of Mumbai’s reputed Jai Hind College. The primary objective of the Association is to promote and maintain contact among all Jai Hind-ites, by creating opportunities which would enable alumni to strengthen their bonds with their alma mater. Moreover, this association works to help the college with matters concerning its promotion, development and welfare.

Jai Hind is one of the premier educational institutions of Mumbai. However, the managing board and the faculty do not believe in being complacent with the place they have carved in the field of education. Their endeavor is to move beyond the conventional academic programmes so as to keep pace with the changing academic scenario.

After morphed Sunny Leone images, actress Arshi Khan haunted by fake profiles on Facebook

This time over Mumbai-based, Bhopal-born 25-year-old Sunny Leone-look-alike Arshi Khan is not taking things lying down. After Arshi complained to the Mumbai police Cyber Crime cell, about fake, morphed images bearing her face and Sunny Leone’s nude images, now fake profiles on Facebook have started making an appearance. The actress has been running from pillar to post for the last one month to get the fake morphed nude images removed from some pages on Facebook and the web. But every time she manages to convince Facebook to delete the images, they appear elsewhere on some different page. Now she is plagued by fake profiles as well.

Says Arshi Khan speaking to content agency, “About one month ago, a friend informed me of some images on a couple of Facebook pages that bore my face with the body of some porn star. First I did not believe him, but then he downloaded the images and mailed them to me. After that I began to scout for the images on Facebok and located them on three semi porn pages. I reported those images to Facebook and requested all my friends to do so. And surely enough after about a week the entire page disappeared, only to appear again after ten days in a different avatar. There are about 100 images of Indian women in different states of undress, some of them almost nude and 2-3 photographs amongst those bear my facial image. Every time I report the page or my morphed images, the get pulled down by Facebook only to appear again on a different page. The pages bear names like Indian bhabi or something like that. A social media expert I spoke to opined that these morphed images have got circulated to a gang of delinquent or rogue social media people who earn money by creating fake pages with semi nude images on them and generating “likes” on them. The likes generated are transferred to clients pages using scripts and other programming. They then charge unsuspecting clients huge sums for such fraudulently generated ‘Facebook Likes’.”

The actress is busy mentally tuning up for India’s first commercial bollywood 4D historical film, which goes on floors in March 2014. “It is a Rs 120-crore project featuring big names and I want to make sure I am in the best frame of mind. Right now I do not want to be disturbed as I have to psyche myself for the project.”

A flustered Arshi Khan finally approached the Mumbai police Cyber Crime cell for help. “ Earlier, I did not want to go to the police as it involves a lot of paper work and several trips to the police station to record statements, hand over printouts, etc. I am busy with my shoots, two Tamil films and the two beauty pageants I am participating in this year. However, enough is enough. I have decided to bring the police into this matter. I want to send out a stern message through the media to the scoundrels behind the prank – cease and desist or else you will be behind bars very soon,” a visibly angry Arshi Khan told

Arshi Khan was born in Afghanistan but came in India when she was just 4years old as her parents migrated back in India to Bhopal, she finished her school and college in Bhopal itself, and was attracted towards theater since her early childhood. Acting brought her to Mumbai where she bagged many assignments in a short span of six months. She was introduced to the famous stage personality Janab Ehsaan Chishti, a famous director in theater in Bhopal. Says Arshi, “Ehsaan ji thought that I have a attractive face and figure and if I try I can possibly make it as an actor.” He used to instigate me, and it was at Ehsaan ji’s provocation that I started acting in various dramas in Bhopal city. I started get offers for modeling, and that’s how got assignments for modeling for “Madame”, “Diesel Genes”, “Pepe Jeans”, “Agarwal Jewelers” and many more.” She simultaneously got a break in a Tamil Film “Malli Mishtu” where she played the lead role opposite Tamil Star Naresh.


Navi Mumbai International Film Festival Day 2 closes on a high note

Mumbai, February 1, 2014: After the magnificent Day 1, Day 2 of Navi Mumbai International Film Festival witnessed the harmony of passion and cinema. Exciting films from across the world were screened at DY Patil Auditorium in Nerul, one of the largest auditoriums in the city.

Beginning at 9am , the impressive lineup of films included “[tha-ki-ta-tha] – Talking Drums” a documentary film directed by Philipp Holl, “Prism” by an Indian director Sandip Pandurang Mane, the movie is about a child who enjoys and learns things in nature rather than school which is an obstruction for him. The festival also showcased few short films and feature films like “Maliwood Talks” by Sudhir Kasabe, “Tara” a feature film directed by Kumar Raj amongst others.

Day 2 of NMIFF also saw a master-class by Oscar award winning producer, Mr. Marc Baschet, on “How to market and distribute independent films globally.” He spoke about the importance of a good script, the right way to pitch, different ways of promoting the film, importance of showcasing films at film festivals and shared other key insights on distributing independent films on the global market. This master class was presented by Fortune Select Exotica Navi Mumbai by ITC Hotels which is also hosting Marc’s stay in Navi Mumbai.

Tomorrow promises to be particularly engaging with more movie screening followed by the award ceremony.

Sidharth Malhotra who had his female fan base swooning over his looks in Student of the Year as he made his big Bollywood debut with the film, is cutting out the frill,this time around, with all focus on his performance in Dharma Productions & Phantom Films’ Hasee Toh Phasee.

If sources are to be believed, Anurag Kashyap, one of the Directors at Phantom Films, who are producing the film along with Dharma head honcho Karan Johar, is so impressed with the young lad that he is planning to write a film keeping him in mind!

The few who have seen the film have been all praise for Sidharth in the cuckingfrazy entertainer especially Anurag Kashyap who is a tough taskmaster to please – Says a source, “While SOTY established Sidharth’s fan base,Hasee Toh Phasee is here to introduce Sidharth Malhotra-the actor. Just 2 films old,the actor has managed to impress some of the biggest names in the industry ,the latest being Anurag Kashyap who is very impressed with Sidharth and is keen on writing a film keeping him in mind”.

Anurag said, “Sidharth is fabulous in the film and the kind of restraint and focus he has shown in Hasee Toh Phasee is impressive. He is so real and believable to the extent that I did not expect it from him.”

Tusshar Kapoor Plays the perfect Host To his US University Legal Guardian.

Actor Tusshar Kapoor, who studied in Michigan before making his foray into acting, has a visitor from United States-his legal guardian and the actor is going out of his way to play the perfect host.

The actor is busy taking her out to different eateries in Mumbai, to give her a taste of Indian cuisine. “Tusshar is keen to treat Pramila to different Indian delicacies. He is taking out time to show her some of the unconventional restaurants in Mumbai, which normally don’t get listed in city guides,” says a source close to the actor.

It seems that Pramila was the 37-year-old actor’s legal guardian when he was studying for his MBA programme in Michigan. Over time, Tusshar became very close to her and considers her a close friend. “Pramila visits India every three to five years and ensures that she meets Tusshar,” says the source.

Not only this, the actor also made sure that she was put up at his place so that she has a comfortable stay in Mumbai. When asked about this, Tusshar says, “She is a lovely lady and I had a very nice time having her as my legal guardian in the US. She used to stay half-an-hour’s drive away and I used to visit her quite regularly. She loves India so I am showing her around now.”

We all know how Arjun Kapoor lost oodles of weight before he entered the show business some years back. However, when the actor heard the script of Gunday he was thinking how he would do so much running that was required in the film.

In the beginning days of the shoot, when Ranveer and Arjun used to run together, Arjun realized how running was his shortcoming vis-à-vis Ranveer Singh who has always been an athlete.

Arjun Kapoor would start panting in the first minute of running itself. He surely did lose a lot of weight but physical fitness was something he worked on after taking up Gunday.

So, Arjun started training extensively to first start running for longer duration and once he achieved that, he started working on his performance while running as an actor.

On the last day of shoot, when they were doing a running sequence, Arjun overtook Ranveer Singh and felt very proud about it.

Running in films is an art that needs to be learnt and mastered. On the last day of the shoot when I was able to run neck to neck with Ranveer Singh, I was happy that I had finally achieved something.
