”Khargosh” to be aired on Doordarshan on Monday, December 16th

Actor Sumit Sharma’s film ”Khargosh” will be aired on Doordarshan, in the category of Best of Indian Cinema; on Monday, December 16th at 11 pm. Sumit Sharma is a Delhi boy who has taken his acting training from the veteran actor Anupam Kher’s Academy.

Previous to this Sumit has acted in few of the films, TV series and few commercials and he has also worked in the feature film ‘2 nights in soul valley’ directed by Harish Sharma. This time he is working in off-bit cinema. ‘Khargosh’ has ‘minimalist lyricism’ but brilliantly establishes the story with images and sound.

The film comprises a series of sensory experiences that gradually engulf Bantu (a ten years old boy who is also the protagonist). He carries billet-douxs between his tenant (Sumit Sharma) and a girl known only as “Mrityu” (Gauri). As the two become close, Bantu becomes consumed by Mrityu. She is transformed in his eyes from a salwar-kameez clad girl next door to a more seductive red-lipped sari-clad beauty. ‘Khargosh’ looks sideways at the stirrings of sexual desire in Bantu, a ten-year-old boy (Arhan Wilson). Director Paresh Kamdar’s ‘Khargosh’ is based on a short story by Hindi writer Priyamvad.

‘Khargosh’ has bagged three awards at the 11th Osian Cinefan Film Festival and also won one at the Madrid Film Festival 2010 in Spain.

Events like the ADHM are perfect platform to encourage athletics, says Bailey

“Events like the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon are a perfect platform to generate interest towards athletics. India is a huge country, it’s just about developing the running culture and with appropriate infrastructure and professional training, Indians can definitely produce Olympic winners,” said Donovan Bailey, 100m Olympic and World Champion and 100m World Record holder and the international event ambassador of the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon at the Meet & greet session at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, here, on Friday.

After arriving at the stadium in a BMW motorcade in the company of the elite athletes Bailey, who has visited India before said, “I had the opportunity to compete in Pune in a couple events in the 90s and it was a fantastic feeling to see hundreds of people who had come to support and cheer for me. India is an incredible country and the people here are very warm and the food is incredible. ”

The Jamaican born Bailey gave the example of his small country of birth that has a running culture, “Jamaica is a very tiny country as compared to India. Here there is huge potential. The associations need to identify the talent pool and give them the right direction and nurture them,” said Bailey.

On his own athletic career, Bailey said “the victories at the World Championships and the Olympic gold medal, which I won while setting a world record are closest to my heart. I will always be an Olympic champion and the feeling is exhilarating. But, I think more than the gold medal and the records, what motivates me is, and I think it should to all athletes, is to run a perfect technical race.”

The inevitable question about Usain Bolt was answered very clearly by the champion. “Bolt is someone i meet often, talk to and give advise to. He is a good kid, he is fast and the best. But he still has the potential to improve, his stance and his start could be better. With a height of 6.6 ft he is the only man on the planet who can break records and clock the lowest time.”

Running Shaadi.com shooting complete

Mumbai,13th December,2013:-It was quite a sprint and now the shooting of Running Shaadi.com is complete. Produced by Vicky Donor director Shoojit Sircar and his partner Ronnie Lahiri(Rising Sun Films) and co-produced by Crouching Tiger motion pictures , the film is a young rom com starring Amit Sadh (Kai Po Che!) and Tapsee Pannu (Chashme Baddoor) in the lead and is directed by first-timer Amit Roy, who has previously worked as a cinematographer in films like Sarkar and Dum Maaro Dum. The film went on floors in in end October and the start-to-finish Patiala schedule ended on December 10.

Running Shaadi.com revolves around a website which helps people elope and get married. When Ram Bharose (Amit) and Nimmi (Tapsee) fall in love while on the run, one hilarious situation leads to another and they have to handle their own runningshaadi. Add to that a wide array of unique characters make for an endearing light-hearted story.

With Sircar himself being the creative mentor on the film, Running Shaadi.com has a headstart. “We at Rising Sun Films are committed to making entertaining cinema and this film fits the bill perfectly. We had a fun, fast shoot and now we are getting into post-production to finish the film.”

Amit and Tapsee are equally excited. “Running Shaadi.com has been a fabulous experience with like-minded people coming together. I hope the audiences have as much fun as we had making the film,” says Amit.
Adds Tapsee: “We didn’t even realise when we started the shoot and when we finished it. Now I can’t wait to watch the ready film on the big screen. It’s going to be a winner.”

Running Shaadi.com will run to theaters in mid-2014.
