Ashvin Gidwani Productions Celebrates International Theatre Month in Style

Mumbai, 5th April 2014: Ashvin Gidwani Productions (AGP) is basking in the success of three of its prominent productions, which were recently showcased, celebrating the spirit of theatre during March, the International Theatre Month. History of India, The Scent of a Man and Get Rid of My Wife, staged in 3 different cities, received glorious praises for the outstanding performances and the unmatched energy experienced during each of these shows.

Ashvin Gidwani, MD & Producer, Ashvin Gidwani Productions (AGP), said, “The applause and the palpable energy during our plays are two main reasons why we love doing what we do. We have always received the unconditional support of supremely talented actors, and the audience has always been generous enough to acknowledge their performance. We cannot thank them enough.”

The first play ‘The Scent of A Man’, was recently performed in Kolkata. The audience there gave a STANDING OVATION for the splendid performances by the talented cast of Ash Chandler, Bhavna Pani, Deven Khote and Suchitra Pillai. Set in present day Mumbai,         ‘The Scent Of A Man’ is a riotous & uproarious adult comedy, which centres on two married mismatched couples – Nikhil, a successful advertising executive and his intelligent, but slightly neurotic wife Mallika, Tupperware lady Ananya and her husband Partho,  an economics professor.

Vir Das’ ‘History of India ‘Vir’itten’, popularly known for being India’s highest selling stand-up act,  premiered in Dubai. Inspired with all the adulation, AGP is surely upbeat about their future association with Dubai audiences. Featuring renowned actors Vir Das and Kavi Shastri, the play, was a SELL OUT, and took viewers on a journey through Indian History – right from the Harappan civilization and the Vedas to the Mughal Era and the Indian Independence Struggle, ultimately culminating with the oddities of the present day.

The positive streak continued with their third play ‘Get Rid of My Wife’. The play, back on the theatre scene after 2 years, kept the amazing Tata NCPA audience IN SPLITS, with rousing performances by the brilliant cast. The play, written & directed by Paritosh Painter is comedy theatre at its best. It is about three friends Shree, Adi and Manav, who live together with their handicaps (one is blind, one is deaf and one is mute) and creditors like Mario, a goon who is hired to recover their debts. After realizing that the three do not have the capacity to repay, Mario offers them a job to kidnap a rich industrialists’ wife. That’s when the roller coaster ride of comedy and laughter begins. The play boasts of a stellar cast comprising of Delnaaz Irani, Barkha Bisht, Nasir Khan, Balvinder Singh Suri, Jayesh Thakkar & Paritosh Painter.

AGP is humbled by all the love and appreciation being showered on them, and is certainly looking forward to keep entertaining the audiences, across the globe.

The Scent of a Man will be staged on Sunday, 13th April 2014 at Sophia Auditorium at 7pm. Tickets are priced at Rs.1200, 1000, 800 & 600 and are available online at
