Dhruv Bali the Indian born actor from Hollywood has bagged the main lead role in Checkmate, a psychological thriller/ murder mystery being produced  in New York, The film is a Full length Feature and an Icelerate Film production which is being directed by Vijit Sharma. It will be shot in New Jersey and New York. The female lead will be played by Nandana Sen, along with Parvin Dabas. Dhruv Bali recently completed filming Popular German TV series “Privatdetektive Im Einsatz“ playing the role of Simon Moore.  It is a Film Pool Entertainment production with a season being shot in Los Angeles. The series is likely to be on air for 2 years.

Dhruv Bali  has recently become the hollywood talk of the town after bagging a Feature Film as well as web series  “Sobe Role Models” in which he plays one of the lead Principal Character, His work reminds us of  Ed Norton and Tom Hanks.

Art With A Heart: Rouble Nagi

If you thought art was a passion for the privileged few, one glance at artist Rouble Nagi and her art foundation is sure to change your mind.

Rouble Nagi, whose organization RNAF (Rouble Nagi Art Foundation) aims at helping under-privileged kids achieve their dreams through art camps, is a rare breed of artists, whose art is aimed at helping those in need through camps aimed at targetting underprivileged kids.

Talking about her art camps, which are held around 6-7 times a year at various parts of the country, Rouble says, “Our camps, which we started since 2007, are held at municipal schools and slums to encourage kids to not skip school and to make them realize that learning can be a fun experience. I started teaching art and exposing children to the subject to bring out their innermost feelings, and help them adjust with the society. As an artist and an individual, I wanted to give something back to society. More than anything else I love children and love being surrounded by them.”

Nagi added that the artworks created by the children are sent to auctions at selected cities in India and abroad.

Nagi has many supporters- from Aditya Thackeray to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram to former beauty queen Sushmita Sen to actors Sohail Khan and Zayed Khan.

The second season of Satyamev Jayate has got tremendous response. The show has not only touched some sensitive issues but also has found possible amends to the problems.

Aamir Khan has this time decided to bring SMJ in 3 parts. 1st part had 5 episodes and the show received a lot of admiration from people all over.

The actor who just completed the 1st part of Satyamev Jayate’s 2nd season is already engrossed in the 2nd part of this season.

The actor will not be taking any break between two tranches of SMJ.

2nd part of this season will be aired in the month of July. The actor and his SMJ team have already started working on the research part of the show.

Ali puts his Luck on the Line

Jeannie & Juju is a romantic comedy which has Vicky and his genie that are in love with each other facing life and its daily challenges.

JSW Steel to revise prices for select products

·         Reduces prices by Rs 500-750 per tonne for HRC and Rs 500 for Wire rod

Mumbai, 01 April 2014: JSW Steel, the country’s leading steel producer with an installed capacity of 14.3 mtpa today announced the revision of prices for its two steel products– Hot Rolled Coil (HRC) and Wire rod, effective from April 1.  The quantum of the cut will be Rs 500-750 per tonne for HRC and Rs 500 for Wire rod.

Mr Jayant Acharya, Director-commercial and marketing, JSW Steel said, “Considering the international steel prices and the appreciation of the Indian rupee, the company has adjusted domestic prices downward to align it with the landed cost of import. The domestic demand has seen an improvement in the last quarter and we are optimistic that steel consumption will rise in the current fiscal by around 5-6% in line with the projected GDP growth of the country.”

Mumbai, 1st April 2014:  Sid Mallya has announced his candidacy as an independent in this year’s general elections. According to a post on his official Instagram account @sidmallya, he is all set to ‘take out the trash’. He also calls himself the “The last honest man”.

Sid, who is known to be a party animal, always attending the biggest parties and events and hobnobbing with the who’s who of the world, has larger interests which apparently lie in the betterment of humanity. He believes that taking part in this year’s elections would be the best way for him to bring about a positive change. Sid wants to leverage his social standing to contest the elections, which are going to take place from 7th April to 16th May, 2014.

Sid Mallya thinks that he will be able to form the right government, as he describes himself as ‘Unbribeable’ and the ‘the jaw line of change’. Sid has surely been doing his bit for the society, which shows that he has a soft heart, but what people really want to know is whether Sid Mallya can be an able leader. Only time will tell!

India’s Overall M&A Activity Slightly Improves with 2.8% Increase

The value of announced mergers & acquisitions (M&A) deals involving Indian companies reached US$5.2 billion during the first quarter of 2014, a 2.8% increase from the first quarter of 2013 but saw a 27.4% quarterly decline from the fourth quarter of 2013.

Deal count also slowed down as number of M&A transactions dropped 29.5% to 232 from 329 announced deals during the first quarter of 2013.

The average M&A deal size for transactions with disclosed values involving India climbed up to US$56.3 million this first quarter of 2014 compared to US$34.0 million over the same period last year., as more deals were announced this quarter at US$500-million-and-above in value.

Domestic M&A stood at US$2.7 billion, up 111.2% compared to the first quarter of 2013. In terms of value, the bulk of domestic activity focused on the Energy & Power sector with US$1.9 billion, an eleven-fold increase from the same period last year and witnessed the highest quarterly level since third quarter of 2010 (US$2.7 billion).  Energy & Power captured 71.3% of India’s domestic M&A activity this year.

Total cross-board M&A fell 38.7% to US$1.9 billion compared to the first quarter of 2013. Inbound M&A in India declined 49.4% while, on the other hand, Outbound M&A increased 57.2% over the same period last year.

Completed M&A deals involving Indian companies totaled US$8.4 billion, a 37.0% increase compared to the first quarter of 2013 (US$6.2 billion).

Energy & Power Takes the Lead with 50.7% Market Share

The Energy & Power sector accounted for majority of the acquisitions involving Indian companies with 50.7% market share worth US$2.6 billion, a 299.7% increase from the first quarter of 2013, and the highest first quarter period since 2011 (US$9.4 billion). Materials followed next and captured 15.9% of the market share with US$824.6 million worth of deals, up 186.7% from the same period last year.

The TMT sector (Technology, Media, and Telecommunications) captured an aggregate market share of 7.7% as combined deal value increased 52.1% to US$398.0 million from the first quarter of 2013.

Private Equity-backed M&A in India Witness Surge in Deal Value

Buyside Financial Sponsor M&A activity targeting Indian companies totaled US$2.2 billion this year, and witnessed an eleven-fold increase in value compared to the first quarter of 2013.  This was driven by an acquisition of Jaiprakash Power Venture Ltd’s two hydro power plants by an investor group comprised of TAQA India Power Ventures Pvt Ltd (51%), INDO- AFRICA Inc (39%) and India Infrastructure Fund II (10%) in a deal valued at US$1.6 billion. The deal also pushed the Energy & Power sector to account for 76.2% the private equity-backed M&A activity in India.  Consumer Products & Services followed second with 12.1% market share.

India Inbound M&A Activity Starts Slow; Down 49.4% from 1Q 2013

Foreign firms acquiring Indian companies reached US$1.4 billion this year, a 49.4% decline from the first quarter of 2013. Number of announced deals slipped 12.8% compared to the same period last year.

The bulk of inbound acquisitions focused on the Consumer Products & Services sector in terms of deal value with US$417.9 million worth of transactions, a 767.0% growth over a year ago. Consumer Products & Services captured 29.3% of India’s inbound M&A activity followed by Energy & Power sector with 18.8% market share.

Singapore is currently the top acquirer of Indian companies in terms of value with US$371.4 million from 9 announced deals, and accounted for 26.0% of India’s inbound M&A activity.  Meanwhile, United States saw the most number of deals with 13 announced M&A transactions worth US$218.6 million.

India Outbound M&A Grew 57.2% YTD

After witnessing a slow start last year (US$316.5 million), Indian acquisitions overseas stood at US$497.6 million during the first quarter of 2014 and saw a 57.2% increase from the comparative period last year.

India’s outbound acquisitions focused on the Energy & Power sector as deal value reached US$411.1 million, and captured 82.6% of India’s foreign acquisitions. Healthcare followed in second place with 8.2% of the market share, or US$40.7 million worth of announced M&A deals.

Mauritius was the top most targeted nation in terms of value which accounted for 67.6% of the market share worth US$336.3 billion from a single deal. United States, however, saw the most number of announced transactions with 10 deals valued at US$9.1 million.

Completed M&A Advisory Fees in India Up 51.0%

According to estimates from Thomson Reuters/ Freeman Consulting Co., M&A advisory fees from completed transactions in India totaled US$49.8 million during the first quarter of 2014, a 51.0% increase from the comparable period last year.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch took the top spot for imputed fee rankings on M&A advisory work related to completed M&A deals in India for the first quarter of 2014 with US$15.9 million, and accounted for 31.9% market share of the fee pool.
