Mumbai, 27th March 2014: L’Oréal Paris, the world’s No. 1 beauty brand and Femina, India’s largest women’s magazine once again came together to celebrate India’s women achievers at the third edition of the L’Oréal Paris Femina Women Awards 2014 at The Leela, Mumbai. The awards celebrated ‘Women of Worth’ in India, honoring women who work selflessly for their communities across 14 categories including Social Impact, Community Causes, Science & Innovation and Education amongst others.

Inter-linking of rivers will boost India’s economy

Jai Maha Bharat Party launches their Maharashtra unit; to contest all 48 Lok Sabha seats

MUMBAI, March 29: In order to tackle the water crisis threatening the future, Jai Maha Bharat Party, a national level party, emphasised that the inter-linking of rivers will solve the problem of water scarcity and thereby, boost India’s economy. The party official launched the Maharashtra unit that will field candidates in all the 48 constituencies in the state in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections taking on the political stalwarts.

“The inter-linking of rivers will help in increasing irrigation intensity in the country, increasing water availability for drinking and industrial purposes, mitigating effect of drought and floods to a certain extent. Once the dams and reservoirs are constructed and water is stored, hydro electricity can be generated at these sites. Availability of water is one of the constraints for hydro electricity generation during summers, ample storage at dams/reservoirs could increase efficiency of hydro electric power plants. However, some of these impacts are quantifiable and some are difficult to quantify,” pointed out Bhagwan Shri Anantha Vishnu Deva (Vaikunthdham Niwasi), Founder and President, Jai Maha Bharat Party, while addressing a press conference here in Mumbai.

Headquartered in New Delhi, the party – founded in 2008 by Vaikuntiya Maharajarajshri Subbana Deva, Vaikuntiya Mahamaathashri Narasamma Devi and Bhagwan Shri Anantha Vishnu Deva (Vaikunthdham Niwasi) – will contest as many as 543 Lok Sabha seats for 2014 elections across India.

Bhagwan Shri Anantha Vishnu Deva (Vaikunthdham Niwasi) lambasted the UPA government, saying that they were neck deep in corruption, and the Lok Sabha elections were an opportunity to change the way governments function and the politics is conducted.

In Mumbai, it will contest in all the six constituencies – Mumbai-North, Mumbai-North-West, Mumbai-North-East, Mumbai-North-Central, Mumbai-South-Central and Mumbai-South. “We have named only one candidate, so far, in Mumbai. Mr Shehbaz Rathod will be contesting from the Mumbai-South seat against Mr Milind Deora of Congress. We will announce remaining five seats on the eve of Gudi Padwa,” informed Mr Bipin Tiwari, General Secretary – Maharashtra State, Jai Maha Bharat Party.

In its manifesto, the party mentioned provision of food security, electricity to all, employment to all, women and youth empowerment, education for all, health benefits to everyone, good governance and provide benefits to senior citizens. “We will invest in rural development; we will ensure higher agricultural productivity and guarantee an assured income to farmers; and, we will protect the livelihood of the masses while creating myriad opportunities of gainful employment. “The Jai Maha Bharat Party promises to initiate these measures within 100 days of coming to power,” emphaises Bhagwan Shri Anantha Vishnu Deva (Vaikunthdham Niwasi).

“Our party’s vision is focus to address the concerns of nation’s youth and help them to achieve their aspirations. We will lay emphasis on empowerment through excellence by providing quality education. We will ensure the security of life and property. Reviving the economy, re-orienting it towards agriculture, rural development, and unorganized and informal sectors; creating adequate employment opportunities for the youth; pushing back the price line; and, investing heavily in infrastructure projects are at the top of our agenda,” informs Bhagwan Shri Anantha Vishnu Deva (Vaikunthdham Niwasi).

Commodore Mongia in lead

Commodore Surinder Mongia, piloting the Wahe Guru, finished first in both races of the A Class Super Yachts, followed by Bharat Kewalramani in Sheikin Not Stirred on the opening day of the Deloitte JJ Memorial Cup Sailing Championships off the Bombay harbour on Saturday.

The Deloitte JJ Memorial Cup started with some spectacular weather conditions with winds ranging from 12 to 19 knots and races finished much ahead of schedule.

The owners of most of the super yachts of Mumbai including Nandan Chandavarkar on Peace and Plenty, Ravi Marivalla on Blazing Surmai, Bharat Kewalramani on Sheikin Not Stirred and Arvind Rao on Avis Ark participated and the Deloitte JJ Memorial Cup had a record 180 participants across all classes.

The first race sailed just opposite the Taj and Gateway had a huge collision between Avi’ Ark, Tengi and Frank Hancock’s Cunning Plan causing all of them to start late and this gave Wahe Guru, helmed by Commodore Mongia a veteran and an Arjuna Awardee a march from start to finish tailed closely by Sheikin Not Stirred skippered by Kewalramani a close second.

The second race to Mandva from Gateway was a smooth getaway for Commodore Mongia on Waheguru and a surprise entry of Arvind Menon and son Vir sailed the Hobie Catamaran to reach the finish line first followed by the J24s

In the Optimist Fleet of kids under 15 it was Leela Sagar all the way with 3 wins in a row followed closely by Pavi of RBYC and the catch of the season Ehsaan Khan of Akanksha Foundation.

The Topper Class boats enjoyed the winds as they sliced through the waves and moved at blazing speeds leaving the Optimist far behind in their wake. Sankalp Kapur finished overall first and Upamanyu Dutta a close second.

Saidah walks the ramp for Delna Poonawalla

Saidah Jules turned showstopper on March (date) for designer Delna Poonawalla, who displayed her summer collection at the Mahalaxmi Race Course. With many familiar faces the event was a grand one.

The beauty was seen strutting her stuff for the exuberant media and audience. It was after the polo match between India and Argentina. Earlier she was seen cheering for the Indian outfit and signing autographs.

Before the event, Saidah was a bit on the nervous side as it was her first time. But, as soon as she got on the ramp, she was full of self confidence and struck a flamboyant pose. Pouting and winking at the camera, she easily became everyone’s favourite. A few people from the audience met her after the event and spoke to her. They talked about how great she was back their and it was like a treat for them.

Delna Poonawalla spotted her at a party and thought she looked pretty. Saidah was in an Indian attire by  Amy Billimoria looked every bit a doll. That’s when she decided to approach her. That’s how everything shaped up and she was the showstopper for her.

The event was hosted after India defeated Argentina and was attended by an array of spectators.

Deepika Padukone overwhelmed by her fan’s.

Deepika took a fan to Filmfare award night where she was felicitated. Since then her fan mail has almost doubled.

Over the last month 5 girls used to regularly stand outside Deepika’s building in Prabhadevi. The girls used to hang around till wee hours trying to gauge the time she arrives or trying to spot her car. They wanted to meet her.

One of the days Deepika’s team bought this to her notice, she immediately requested her team to call them in the building premises.

She interacted with the girls and spoke to them about various things. They had a hearty conversation.

When the girls shared that they have been trying to meet her since a month and have been waiting till odd hours… Deepika got concerned. She introduced the girls to her manager and asked them to be in touch with her rather than waiting outside. She was concerned about their security.

While Deepika was interacting with her facebook fans early this week, they came again to meet the young actor. They wanted gift her something they had made for her.

Deepika has been overwhelmed with the reactions she has been receiving from her fans. Even on Facebook the no. of her fans has galloped.

Even during the Facebook chat she was heartened with the exchange. They spoke to her about her films, the characters she has essayed Veronica, Naina, Meenamma, Leela and also recited many of her dialogues.–

RJ Rishi Kapoor meets with Mumbai Postmen

Mumbai, 28th March 2014 – Mail received! 93.5 Red FM’s Mumbai Ke Asli Heroes is back! And, in its 4th edition, the unassuming and hard working Postmen of Mumbai have been lauded for their ceaseless efforts. RJ Rishi Kapoor interacted with the Postmen and inquired about their routine. They shared funny and heartening anecdotes with him, who was touched by their warmth and generosity. They had vivid stories of how letters delivered by them helped bring families/friends/strangers together.
