Synopsis

There are incidences in the state of Chhattisgarh in Raipur district where women accused of witchcraft are assaulted to the extent that sometimes these women are blinding, stabbed and murdered. These practices are banned by the Government of Chhattisgarh, but still many cases are witnessed every now and then. The women who practice black magic are known as TONHI in the central India. ‘The Dark Secrets of Tonhi’ is a Hindi movie dealing with the serious issue of assaults on innocent women and children due to superstitious beliefs. `The Dark Secrets of Tonhi’ is a realistic film with pinch of horror and drama. The movie has been shot in real locations of Chhattisgarh.

“I like making movies on realistic subjects and Tonhi, the black magic woman subject interested me. So, I studied the subject going deep in the forest of Chhattisgarh state before making the movie. Several women are killed every year which is a shame,” Shiraz Henry said in a statement.

The movie has J. Brandon Hill (actor of Bunti Aur Babli, Raaz 2, Double Dhamaal, Yaariyan) and Natasha Sikka (a Delhi based model) in the main lead. J. Brandon Hill plays an American Doctor who comes to India to find out the reason of children falling sick and dying in a remote village of Chhattisgarh state, later he comes to hear from the villagers that the entire epidemic is being caused by a witch, they call as ‘TONHI’. The story is very realistic and moves in its pace which makes it more interesting to watch.

The movie has been made under the banner of ‘Find Studioz’, Mumbai and Rebecca Changkija & Ajay Najat is the producers of this movie. The writer & director of the movie is Shiraz Henry.

The movie is all set to hit the screen on 21st February, 2014.

When the team of QUEEN made a splash

Mumbai, 11th February, 2014: Kangana Ranaut has made an instant connect with the audience, by portraying ‘Rani’s character with utmost honesty, in the upcoming film ‘Queen’. In the recently released song of the film, ‘O Gujariya’, the actor is seen making new friends on her solo honeymoon, and letting her hair down. While shooting for the song in Paris, a funny incident took place as one of the actors, Jeffrey Ho, fell off a boat.

One particular scene from the song features Kangana and the other characters, dancing on a boat, one sitting behind the other. Jeffrey Ho, who was dancing towards the back end of the boat, went overboard, literally, as he fell right into the water, while dancing. However, Jeffrey didn’t panic, since he was sure of the security arrangements. The production unit had already hired a lifeguard, who jumped in, immediately, ensuring the safety of the actor.

Recalling the incident, Director Vikas Bahl said, “It was funny to see Jeffrey loose balance and slip off the boat, dancing. He did look shocked for a few seconds, before all of us had a good laugh about it.” The production unit had to wait for the actor’s clothes to dry up to ensure continuity, before the shoot resumed. The other actors made sure that they pulled Jeffrey’s leg over the incident, even after they had packed up for the day.

Presented by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, Queen is a Phantom Production. The Kangana Ranaut starrer is directed by Vikas Bahl, and produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures, Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap. Queen is scheduled for release on May 7, 2014.

During the shoot of the film Gunday, the trio, Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Sigh and Arjun Kapoor experienced immense fun moments on the sets of the film. One such moment was when Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor took Priyanka Chopra for the film “Phata Psoter Nikla Hero”

The trio was shooting at Durgapur in Calcutta when the Shahid Kapoor starrer Phata Poster had released. The team had some time off, hence the boys, dragged PC for the show.

It was quite an impromptu plan. However the entire plan turned out to be quite successful. It was a fun experience for all the 3 actors who thoroughly enjoyed their time off and the film.

Power of 49, a Jaago Re initiative for women, was launched in August 2013 with an objective to awaken women, who form 49% of India’s voter base, inspiring them to cast an informed and independent vote and exercise the power they have to make or break a government in this forthcoming election. The campaign was conceptualised from the insight that women constitute 49% of the voter base in India but often do not get their due as they are not seen as a determining factor in elections.

The Power of 49 initiative is being supported by the Tata group because it aligns closely with the group’s social agenda. The campaign will see Tata group companies and employees coming together in the spirit of volunteering to play their part in amplifying the impact of the campaign.

As a build-up to the General Elections in 2014, the initiative will use several platforms to communicate the thought behind Power of 49. A new TV advertisement, directed by renowned ad and filmmaker Gouri Shinde was unveiled today around the concept of ‘Kaala Teeka’ (black dot). The Kaala Teeka is a clever play on the Teeka with a hard-hitting message of awakening women to realise their potential as voters. It is observed that while women vote, their family members often influence them in selecting the candidate and party to vote for.

RAGINI MMS-2 TRAILER: TOO HOT TO HANDLE FOR THE WEB .

Conventionally, film-makers play UA certified trailers of their films in cinemas while the un-censored ones are released online for mass consumption, as there is no censorship on the Net.

When the sexy and steamy trailer of Ragini MMS-2 was released on Balaji’s Youtube channel (www.youtube.com/balajimotionpictures) , it amassed over 1.5 million views within two days, till even Youtube found it way too hot to handle.

Through its monitoring mechanism, Youtube has flagged off the trailer as ‘18+’, which means that viewing it would now necessitate logging in and age verification.

Rarely has something like this happened for a trailer of any mainstream Bollywood feature.

“While the restriction on viewing marginally slows down the number of views, forbidden content creates its own inquisitiveness and excitement. The trailer has met with an overwhelming response online and in cinemas. Someone who wants to watch a blend of horror and sex will mount over this hurdle with ease,” says Tanuj Garg, CEO – Balaji Motion Pictures.
