Indo Kiwi Films maiden venture “Ye Deewangi Ye Deewanapan” was launched in very dramatic style on 21st September 2012 at Hotel JW Marriot, Juhu. New Hindi music album launched by Venus

“LUV ZAALA” by singer Sangeeta Kopalkar

Audio company Venus has launched singer Sangeeta Kopalkar with their new music album titled “LUV ZAALA” on 22 September at cinema, Infinity mall, Andheri. Album has lyrics by M Prakash & Rajesh Bamugade, music by Raju Kulkarni, arranged and programmed by Ankeet Bham and direction by Raajeev Walia and it is produced by Jyoti Prakash under the banner of JP Creation Entertainment. Audio was released by Shri Ashok Pradhan (former Union Minister of India, former MP from Khurja in Bulandshaher UP). Other guests were producer Tarun Rathi, music director Dilip Sen, Girish Wankhede of Cinemax & singer Raja Hassan. Ashok Pradhan mentioned that though he doesn’t understand Marathi but he loved the music of “LUV ZAALA” specially the song with title word, Champak Jain of Venus music said that this album will be successful because of its flavor, melodious music and songs rendered by Sangeeta.

Lyricist M Prakash said “this album LUV ZAALA contains six songs which has different flavors in specially mumbaiya touch and collaborating festivals of Ganpati and Navratri, it has four fresh solo songs and two remixes by Sangeeta Kopalkar”. Music director Raju Kulkarni has been known as rhythmist and percussionist since many years and “LUV ZAALA” is his debut project.

Previously singer Sangeeta Kopalkar who was inspired by her family as her mother, her aunty everyone were singers which provoked her to opt singing as carrier. What is the most attractive thing about the horror films? Their music and ghosts? Sure enough! Upcoming flick of Sony Pictures-Resident Evil Retribution- once again brings the terrifying music and the blood drained undeads.

The previous films in the franchise too gained popularity for its music as much as for its storyline and action. The music of the film, action and its special effect together are the flavor retainers of the Resident Evil films. “They are the glue that brings everything together. They are the essence of the film, taking us into the Umbrella Corporation world in a way that otherwise would be impossible,” says Jeremy Bolt, one of the producers of the film. The team of Resident Evil has worked immensely on these elements to have literally raised the bar.

The music in the film is given by Tomandandy, a creative lab which masters as a music production company since 1980s.While the credit for the visual effects goes to the film’s Special effects supervisor Dennis Berardi. With the creatures the size of dinosaurs, a car chase with a Rolls Royce and tidal waves running through Red square and taking out New York, the film is packed with special effects. “Every scene, every sequence we made, we were looking for opportunities to take it to the next level… its epic stuff,” says Berardi.

The music and action of Resident Evil franchise has made it synonymous with high-octane action from beginning to end, and Resident Evil: Retribution is packed with more such heart-pounding, adrenaline-charged sequences. The experience of the movie buffs doubles with film’s release in 3D. The film releases in India on 28th September in Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu.

“Comedy is an opportunity that I had created for myself.” – Om Puri

Share something about the character you play in Percept Pictures’ Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal, and what inspired you to take up this role?

I play Shreyas’s father in the film who is often found oscillating between being miffed and angry! I don’t have a comic role, but am playing someone who is very upset with his son, because he believes the boy is good for nothing, as he does not do any work, is not pursuing farming and just loiters around wasting time. The result being, you are left with one angry dad! (Smiles) And what inspired me to take this role on is simply Priyan; he is such a joy to work with.

You have even mentioned elsewhere that Priyadarshan is the USP of Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal, with all your experience of working with such a varied mix of directors, what stands out about Priyan?

Priyan has a very good sense of comedy and he has proved this in many films by now. He is one director who knows exactly what he wants from all his actors. He is also someone who works in conjunction with the rest of the actors and gives them input on their roles periodically, which is very endearing and it reflects in his films.

With Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal, there are a lot veterans you have already worked with including Asrani and know their work well. How was the experience working with the more recent crop of actors like Shreyas who are riding the new wave of comedy now?

Shreyas Talpade has a good sense of comic timing and is also a very good serious actor when need be. I thought his performances in Dor and Welcome to Sajjanpur were wonderful and working with him on Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal has been a great experience. With the combined effort of actors like him and the rest of the cast along with Priyadarshan, who has made very successful films till date, Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal produced by Percept Pictures is going to be a very good attempt as well.

You have also done cross cultural comedies like East is East, catering to a very different audience. How varied are the comic sensibilities across the border and what do you aim to do differently as an actor when you step out?

You are right, there is a lot of difference in the comic sensibilities when you step out, but the approach I have is only according to what my character demands. For instance in East is East, There is a lot of comedy, but I played it very seriously, as that is what the character demanded. I don’t make an attempt to make you laugh; I just act according to the situation. Comic timing can’t be imposed or contrived on, what comes naturally is always the key to comedy.

After a point actors tend to get typecast in a specific role type which defines them. You have carved a niche for yourself in every type of genre from the somber and serious variety of Akrosh to the lighthearted and comically inclined Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal, a Percept Pictures venture, which releases on 28th September. Where is your comfort ground in this panorama?

I did not start my career with comedy, in fact after Akrosh people saw me as someone who had a serious face and was not capable of comic timing at all. But I wanted to change that. I invited Ranjit Kapoor who was a very talented theatre personality from NSD Delhi back then to come to Mumbai and he decided to do a play titled ‘ Bichoo’ with me. Back then even he did not believe that I will be capable of doing comedy, thinking I was too shy as a person to pull it off, so he cast me for a smaller role. But I insisted that I had invited him here, and the lead should go to me because I wanted to prove exactly this, my versatility even in the comic genre. Eventually I did play the lead, and the play went onto being very successful, which paved the way for me to be recognized and get Janey Bhi Do Yaroon. That was the start of my journey into comedy. It’s an opportunity that I had created for myself, because I broke out of the mould I had started to be categorized in.

Resident Evil-Retribution the fifth instalment in the franchise will soon be releasing in India. The tag line of the film “Evil goes global” has indeed hit the right spot as the film has garnered appreciation around the globe.

The Sony Pictures flick has positioned itself in the top spot in U.S and Canadian box office over the weekend and has done the business of over $21.1 million! Worldwide the business of the film totals to more than $71.1 million and it has done spectacular business in Asian countries as well. The film will open itself to the Indian audience on 28th September.

While the war will be between Alice and the zombies in the attempts to save the human race, it will be good to see how Indian audience welcome the zombies amongst the Indian releases. The film with its engaging music, visual effects and zombies has mesmerised the audience worldwide. But will it be successful in casting the same spell in India? Will Evil charm India? Only time will tell…

STOP PRESS: Swami Nithyananda wrongly accused of raping actress Ranjitha!

India’s most controversial spiritual leader Swami Nithyananda seems to be amused at new controversies popping up about him almost every week.

Just after rumours about the self-styled godman being part of Bigg Boss 6 broke out; it was widely misreported that he has been accused of rape by popular Tamil actress Ranjitha.

A report from Press Trust of India (PTI) stated, “Swami Nithyananda was in news after southern actress Ranjitha accused him of raping her more than 40 times.”

But the godman’s spokesperson Dale Bhagwagar was quick to react, “Its amusing how misconceptions chase Brand Nithyananda. Ranjitha is actually a disciple of the Swami and has NOT accused him of anything at all.”

“The report was probably referring to an ongoing legal case, where a lady called Aarthi Rao put various unproven allegations on Swami Nithyananda,” he added.

When asked about the reports about Nithyananda’s appearance on India’s biggest reality show Bigg Boss, Bhagwagar held onto his earlier stance, saying, “I’ve been told, the godman has been approached earlier, but it’s too early to confirm or deny.”

76000 people visited Lavasa in July and the tourist number touched a new high in August with over 95000 visitors – the highest ever!

12 girls set to live the Global Fantasy as Kingfisher begins the Hunt for this Year’s Diva

~ Siddhartha Mallya & Lisa Haydon mark their small screen debut

as host cum judges on the show ~

Known for gifting the fashion world some of its biggest names, the Hunt for the Kingfisher Calendar Girl is poised for another season of excitement. Today at the Trident, Kingfisher Premium and NDTV Good Times announced an interesting panel of host cum judges for season four, enhancing the exhilaration quotient around the ‘Hunt’. Present on the occasion was also Nathalia Kaur, super model cum actor and winner of Kingfisher Calendar Hunt 2012.

The biggest surprise and exciting announcement for this edition was the news of Siddharth Mallya – the charming Mallya heir, making his debut on the small screen as a host and judge of the Hunt for the Kingfisher Calendar Girl 2013. Sharing the screen space would be another big name Lisa Haydon who is a super model cum actor and former Kingfisher Calendar girl. These two celebrity judges along with a host of other celebrity judges who will be part of the Hunt are on the lookout for the sexiest feminine wonder who boasts of unmatchable oomph, charisma and the hottest bikini body.

This year the theme of the show would revolve around “Fantasy”. Girls will be styled and groomed to match the theme with high definition make ups & accessories. Tasks such the Mermaid task, Boot camp task, Elephant task, Talent, Cage task and props used during the show will also reflect the theme. The current edition of the show will be shot across picturesque locations of Goa. 12 lucky contestants will dive into different avatars and challenges, in a bid for a spot on the coveted Kingfisher Calendar.
