Topps India announces its National winner for the Cricket Attax Championship 2012

National, May 30, 2012: Topps India Sports & Entertainment Company Pvt Ltd, pioneers of Sports and Entertainment trading card games and collectables for kids and the owner of the brand Cricket Attax – the official trading card game of DLF IPL, today announced the National winner of Cricket Attax Championships 2012 in Chennai.

Mr. Sanjeev Katyal, Head of India operations of Topps along with Mr. Sundar Raman, COO, IPL and Chennai Super Kings felicitated the Championship’s National winner Ajay Nagpal (Delhi).

After an exciting 9 city tour where 9 winners were selected for the semi-finals and eventually 4 played the grand finale for the coveted title of the National Championship! It was a game of wit where each player played a finger biting match to reach the end as the winner!

After a tension filled round finally Ajay Nagpal was declared the National champion of Cricket Attax 2012. Clearly elated beyond measure he was cheered on the by the crowds present at the MA Chidambaram. He went on to receive the championship cup at the hands of Mr. Sundar Raman, COO, IPL, while his proud parents looked on with delight.

Speaking on being declared the winner Ajay said “I am so excited to have won the Cricket Attax Championship and to receive the award from Mr. Sundar Raman, COO, IPL. I can’t wait to show off my trophy to all my friends!”

The Cricket Attax Championships 2012 which kicked off in April saw participation of more than 1 lac kids across 9 DLF IPL playing cities. With DLF IPL tournament witnessing never before crowds at the grounds and phenomenal success in overall viewership across media platforms, the fan following amongst kids and family groups is at an all-time high and it is no surprise therefore that the Cricket Attax Championships were also so well received.

The league rounds of the championships were played across 200 stores where the game is also retailed. Some of the key retail partners for the Cricket Attax Championships were Hamleys, Reliance TimeOut, Landmark, ABRL More, Big Bazaar, Crossword, Shoppers Stop, Total, Easyday from Bharti Wal-Mart, Hypercity, Reliance Mart, Odyssey, Mom & Me and Beanstalk.

The Championships were also well supported by a dedicated television campaign across all kids’ channels.

For every city 9 semi-finalists were selected amongst the thousands of kids who played the league rounds. The semi-finals happened at Hamleys where these kids played each other and two finalists emerged. These two finalists along with their family were taken to the MA Chidambaram stadium where they played the National championship of the Cricket Attax Game in front of cheering crowds and proud parents.

Cricket Attax Championships is played with the Cricket Attax Trading Card Game, the official DLF IPL trading card game. The Championships allow the kids the big opportunity to vie for the city champion’s crown at the stadium, at the last home match for each of the 9 DLF IPL playing city teams. It is a three tier competition, the biggest in the nation for kids, with a 4 week league round, the city finals round and the National finals. The Championships are played parallel to the DLF IPL tournament and mirror the tournaments format, with 4 city champions out of the 9 being selected for the play-offs to vie for the National crown, exactly as the top 4 teams in the tournament do.

Ajay Nagpal is the ‘National Champion of Cricket Attax 2012’ amongst the 9 city semifinalists.

~ Takes a first weekend gross of 12.8 crore ~

It was a “Back in Time” moment for fans of the Men in Black franchise. Men in Black 3 has taken in an extremely healthy 12.8 crore at the Indian box office in its first weekend of release. The film released with 695 prints and in 3D, 2D and IMAX formats.

The Men in Black franchise continues to be so strong in India as well as around the world, with older fans welcoming the new film after a decade since the last. The new film has brought in a fresh young audience that is appreciating the unique humour and action of the franchise. Sunday performed almost as well as Saturday despite the IPL finals which says a lot for the positive word of mouth being generated by the film. This is expected to carry it into a very strong second week as well.

Actor Vivek OBEROI joins hands with 92.7 BIG FM to FLAG OFF ‘Cigarette Bhujao Life Banao’ campaign on ‘World No Tobacco Day’

Mumbai, May 30, 2012… On World No Tobacco Day India’s No. 1 Radio Network and Broadcaster of the year at Golden Mikes, 92.7 BIG FM Mumbai Station, launched a noble campaign ‘Cigarette Bhujao Life Banao’, in its endeavor to contribute to the welfare and development of society. Vivek Oberoi, a strong anti tobacco campaigner, joined hands with 92.7 BIG FM to sign a pledge against smoking at the BIG FM studio with RJ Ankit. To promote this cause and enable widespread awareness amongst the audience, across the city of Mumbai, the actor signed ‘Ouit Smoking’ on huge cigarette caricature cut-out which will be placed in the Infiniti Mall, Andheri premises, so that people can support the campaign and spread awareness on the ills of tobacco.

The campaign takes on the pressing issue of smoking and the various harms related to smoking, which have ended many lives. This campaign by 92.7 BIG FM is an extension of the larger campaign called ‘Mumbai Manao, Life Banao’ which celebrates the spirit of Mumbai. As part of the campaign for World No Tobacco Day, 92.7 BIG FM’s RJ Ankit spoke to various celebrities like Vivek Oberoi, Javed Jaffrey, Ayushmann Khurrana on dangers of smoking and its effects.
