Garam Dharam on the sets of Taarak mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah

It was a joyous day for Gokuldham Society because their favorite actor Dharmendra had visited the sets. “I love him in the films. In real life too he is equally warm and sweet,” says Dilip Joshi. Adds Disha Wakani, “it is so hot but he went ahead with all the scenes with a smile.” Team also celebrated Dilip Joshi’s birthday by cutting a huge chocolate cake.

The battle ground is set; competition starts from day one… 12 celebrities take up the biggest dance challenge of the season with Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa on COLORS! As they prepare to shed blood, sweat, tears and prove their prowess to the Trinity of Jhalak –Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Karan Johar and Remo D’souza, be prepared to witness an explosive season of the dance and victory unfold. This season is for leaders not followers; it is for fighters not defenders! Get ready to dust off your dancing shoes and be inspired – It’s dancing re-defined on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa starting June 1’2013, every Saturday and Sunday at 9.00 pm, only on COLORS.

From the dance studio to the dance floor, follow the moves of the twelve celebrities as they will be seen surpassing all limitations and outshining in the new frontiers of dance with some never-seen-before acts. Viewers will see dance spilling outside the studio walls as the contestants will be challenged to portray their true talent in some unusual outdoor locations as well. As the mercury rises, contestants will leave no chance to outdo performances with the use of unconventional props, graphics and animation added with internationally acclaimed video mapping technology etc. The season also introduces innovative concepts from Relay dance to performing with Live DJ Music to shaking a leg with an extra partner in ‘Teen Ka Tadka’.

Throwing challenges in their path are the Trinity of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa – the epitome of grace, beauty and dance, Madhuri Dixit-Nene, the king of entertainment, Karan Johar and Bollywood’s most popular choreographer cum director, Remo D’Souza.

Speaking about their expectations from the new season, the returning judge, the dancing diva, Madhuri Dixit-Nene said, “My criteria to judge each performance will be simple – did I feel for the performance, did I live it? Anyone can dance with their feet, I am looking out for someone who puts their heart and soul into it.”

Adding to this Karan Johar said, “All these contestants have been masters in their own fields but this season we will expect them not only to rise up but shift the bar to a new one. I will judge them basis the entertainment quotient – concept’s and the overall performance.” Adding to this, dancing Guru, Remo D’Souza said, “This season contestants will have to push their maximum potential as we set them up for an intensely competitive dance battle. Kick starting the launch episode will be dancing queen Madhuri who will team up with Bollywood sensation Ranbir Kapoor for a stunning performance on their new item number. Next to enthrall viewers will be an entertaining performance by Sushant Singh Rajput and actress Jacqueline Fernandez who will be introducing the 12 celebrity contestants. Dance maestro Remo will also take over the stage for a power packed performance with his troupe and something not to missed will be director Karan Johar’s entertaining act. The launch episode week will also see the three Deols – Sunny, Bobby and Dharmendra shake a leg with the Jhalak contestants adding on to the commencement of the power packed journey of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

Sonam Kapoor takes inspiration from “Guddi” for Raanjhanaa

While several scenes in Eros International’s Raanjhanaa required actress Sonam Kapoor to essay the character of a school girl ,the actress admits to taking inspiration from Jaya Bachchan’s character in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Guddi.

Confirms Sonam Kapoor, “I needed a reference point for my character…a naughty spunky school girl , I had already seen Guddi but I saw it again before shooting for the film. I was inspired by Jaya Bachchanji in Guddi for the film”.

It was also a dream come true for Sonam to be shooting for these scenes especially since it was something she never did during her schooling days – Says Sonam, “ I studied at a very conservative school..I was not allowed to wear short skirts or be boisterous or have fun with the boys but through the course of this film I did everything that I couldn’t do in my school days”.

With music composed by A.R Rahman, Eros International’s Raanjhanaa directed by Aanand L Rai, starring Dhanush , Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol is scheduled to release 21st June 2013.

Barry JohN proud of student Hemwant Tiwari making his mark at Cannes

Barry John protégé, young actor Hemwant Tiwari has made waves on international shores as the protagonist of Bobby Pushkarna’s first directorial venture. Zindagi Bahut Khoobsurat Hai (Life Is Beautiful), the film that made it at the Court Metrage, the short film corner of the 66th edition of Cannes Film Festival .

Barry John is elated that young Hemwant has finally got his due and is making his mark on global cinema. Says Barry John, “Hemwant was one of those students who never missed a class during the course. In an early exercise, he claimed that three major aspects of his personality were hard work, optimism and focus. I have no disagreement to that. I won’t mention his greed for Amul milk powder as a kid. He was always energetic, courageous and creative in his work, and grew to be among the most gifted actors in his class.It is truly gratifying to know that the short film he has acted in has turned out so well, and that hemwant himself has delivered such a mature performance. i am proud of his achievement.”

Zindagi… is about how Mumbai’s colourful life transforms the protagonist (Hemwant Tiwari) from a cold and negative person to a positive and self-sacrificing human being. It makes him realise that life is all about the choices that one makes.

Students of E-Comics and Graphic Storytelling will begin by learning the origin and evolution of the visual narrative form, while simultaneously learning its language and grammar. Draughtsmanship, craft skills and technical knowledge of a broad range of media is then taught, giving the student the flexibility to work on a variety of medium. They also study body language of characters, their gestures and facial expressions and natural phenomena.

Students will learn how to develop story structure, script stories, establish characters and visualise and interpret stories creating effective, intelligent and lyrical illustrations to highlight the mood, visual rhythm, lighting, background, costumes and architectural planning of scenes. Since the most common intent is for reproduction, the students also learn Digital Printing technologies, the various distribution means and the nuance of the working of the Publishing Business.
