The enthusiastic response displayed by this community last year encouraged KRDS to conduct a second edition, the theme for which is ‘Write the Future’. FaceCode is one of India’s largest hackathons in scope; it encourages people to develop apps around real-life issues like corruption, education, traffic hauls etc. on Facebook, to lead Indians into a better future. Na Aana Is Des Laado comes to an end

NAIDLMumbai, June 29, 2012: Na Aana Is Des Laado, COLORS’ landmark show that launched in March 2009 is coming to an end. With strong characters like Ammaji who became synonymous with the show, Na Aana Is Des Laado created a powerful impact among audiences. Rajesh Kumar enters Bhai, Bhaiya aur Brother on SAB TV

June 29th, 2012: Rajesh Kumar is all set to return and tickle the funny bone of the audiences with his entry in Bhai Bhaiya Aur Brother on SAB TV. He will be playing the character of Bihari servant who, comes to work at the Chawla household.It happens so that Tani-Chawla’s maid goes on leave and doesn’t return back to work.The family members then decide to keep another servand to take care of their daily chores and they hire Chaman aka Rajesh Kumar.

He soon becomes the apple of the eye for all family members so much so that they all trsut him implicitly and depend on him for everything. The character of Chaman is inspired by Rajesh Khanna’s character in Bawarchi.

Why has Akshay Kumar taken to drinking?!

Action star Akshay Kumar and his current leading lady Sonakshi Sinha who set the cash registers ringing at the box office with their livewire performances in Rowdy Rathore, have been engaged in a tiff lately. Akshay, who threw a grand bash on Sonakshi’s birthday recently, is now at the receiving end of Sonakshi’s ire. Trouble has been brewing, quite literally, between the two co-stars. According to insiders, both stars who are fitness freaks and keep themselves up to date with the latest fads in health and wellbeing, have been seen squabbling over a new, particularly intriguing habit of Akshay’s. Apparently, Bollywood’s khiladi no. 1 has taken to drinking! And that’s one habit Sonakshi, his co-star in two of his upcoming films totally and wholeheartedly disproves of. Now don’t get us wrong, Akshay’s still a tea-totaller!

Apparently, the action star’s been drinking cup after cup of tea during, between and after his shoots. A recent convert to tea-drinking, he instructs his trusted assistant to bring a whole flask of piping hot tea, to the sets every day. Akshay, who has a strictly regimented exercise routine that includes martial arts, jogging and swimming has now added not less than a couple of cups of tea to his schedule and insists that he is going to convert Sonakshi, into a diehard tea drinker.

Red hot Sonakshi, who set the silver screen afire in her Chhamak Chhallo Chhair Chhabilee avatar, on the other hand pooh poohs the idea and calls him crazy. She says,” Me and Akshay often exchange and share health and fitness tips, but this is crazy! He guzzles tea like he’s guzzling water and goes on and on about its health benefits…I don’t believe him at all! Once while shooting for a song, he dropped me in the middle of a step because he wanted his hourly fix of tea! Can you imagine that?” Akshay, in his defence, retorts, “ Arre bhai! You just wait and watch! This Khiladi never bogs down before a challenge. In no time, will I have her drinking masala chai out of a kulhar.” Well Akshay, we are willing to wait and watch…

Airtel Rising Stars will be a dream come true, says Yorke

“I come from the West Indies, a country that plays cricket, and though I myself am a keen cricketer and follow the game closely, my love was football. If I could make it to the world stage, I don’t see any reason why a player from India shouldn’t be playing on the same stage in the near future,” said Dwight Yorke, the international ambassador of the Airtel Rising Stars, a unique under-16 football talent hunt, promoted by Airtel in association with Manchester United.

The Airtel Rising Stars will travel to 16 cities, and with support of the schools, district and state associations will reach out to an average of 800 talented footballers per city. After two-day trails three of the best players per city will be picked to attend a 6-day selection trial in Bangalore, which will be conducted by coaches from the Manchester United Academy. The Mumbai leg of the Airtel Rising Stars will be held on August 4 and 5.

The final 48 players will be divided into four teams of 12 each and will be tested for physical attributes and fitness, individual skills, match situations and their performances in actual matches before 12 of the best players will be chosen to travel to Manchester United for a week to train alongside the Manchester United Academy team.

Airtel Rising Stars is being conducted concurrently in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka too.

“I got my first taste of organised football when I attended a coaching clinic back home and developed my skills from there. The Airtel Rising Stars is a similar platform that should help inspire talented footballers to believe in themselves and work hard enough to reach the highest level.”

On what the selected 12 can expect when they travel to Manchester United, Yorke said, “It’s something that can’t be explained but has to experienced. When I first went there at the age of 26 I felt like a kid, so it will indeed be incredible for a 16-year-old. Pitobash Tripathi, the young Irrfan in the making, stole the show at the Aalaap introduction event, where the young actor along with director Manish Manikpuri, producers Nishant Tripathi and Abhishek Mishra, co-actors Ruhi Chaturvedi and Miss Sri Lanka Gamya Wijayadasa, kept everyone in splits.

Net and mobile media ‘kills’ Amitabh Bachchan!

‘Killing’ ageing superstars before their time comes, seems to be one of the in-things the internet and social media have come to specialize in! After fake rumours about Lata Mangeshkar and Rajesh Khanna’s demise this year, now the internet has gone ahead and ‘killed’ megastar Amitabh Bachchan this week.

A Blogspot blog called 24musicvdo.blogspot.in reported Big B’s demise in a “car accident” on its home page a few hours ago; causing panic among Twitterati and Blackberry Messenger (BBM) users who broadcast and discussed it, till they realized it was a false alarm.

According to the said blog, “(Local Team News 9) Amitabh Bachan died in a single vehicle crash on Route 80 between Morristown and Roswell. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics responding to the vehicle accident and was identified by photo ID found on his body. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident – June 26, 2012.” (sic)

Also carrying photograph of a car turned over, the article added that “The Highway Safety Investigators have told reporters that Amitabh Bachan lost control while driving a friend’s vehicle on Interstate 80 and rolled the vehicle several times killing him instantly.” (sic)

“Memorial services for Amitabh Bachan have not yet been announced. The service is expected to be a closed casket funeral due to the severe head trauma,” (sic) it concluded after a further description of the so-called ‘accident’.

Commenting on such misleading reports, Bollywood PR guru Dale Bhagwagar smirked, “The bol bachchan (talking big) attitude of the internet and social media often borders on irony when it keeps ‘killing’ superstars.”

“Social media is a very influential and powerful platform, and everyone should be wary of what they broadcast without verifying. When the rumour broke out, Mr Bachchan was happily tweeting almost every 15 minutes. It just takes a little bit of patience and research to check facts, but sadly, not many do that before they jump to conclusions and discussions on the net,” he analyzed.

The biggest celebration of timeless music in ‘Yaadon mein Pancham’ concludes on 92.7 BIG FM”

Mumbai, June 26th, 2012: India’s No. 1 radio network and the Radio Broadcaster of the year awards at Golden Mikes; 92.7 BIG FM today concluded one of its most popular late night shows ‘YAADON MEIN PANCHAM’ on his birth anniversary.
