Mumbai, June 19’2012: Aspiring female models from all over India auditioned for the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 model auditions. LFW season on season has been a launch pad for several new faces in the industry. This season’s auditions announced 7 new faces that will walk the ramp during LFW Winter/Festive 2012.

LFW has been conducting model auditions for over a decade and has seen a consistent growth in the number of participants’ annually. This season witnessed over 108 female model applicants from across India and other countries. Keeping in mind the high standards of quality and talent that LFW signifies, the finalists were shortlisted by a jury of fashion industry experts after three intense rounds of judging. The applicants, besides being evaluated on their poise were also judged based on their confidence and ability to portray a designer’s vision.

The industry experts that were part of the jury and played a key role in selecting these new faces included Former Miss India, Model, Jewelry Designer, Columnist and Fashion Connoisseur Queenie Singh, renowned stylist and LFW Gen Next mentor Aki Narula; Show Director Anu Ahuja; Make Up artists Clint Fernandez and Kapil Bhalla, Photographer Joy Datta, along with Purnima Lamba, Head- Lakmé, Innovations and Anjana Sharma, Director – Fashion, IMG Reliance.

Maya Digital Studios expands its operations in Goa

MUMBAI, 18 JUNE 2012: Maya Digital Studios, the company that pioneered the art & technology of animation & visual effects in India in the 1990s, is now also focussing on the conversion of 2D content into Stereoscopic 3D. The studio is expanding its business and has announced today that it will set up of a brand new facility in Goa’s capital, Panjim. Maya Digital Studios Goa will be a 500-seat, state-of-the-art animation, visual effects and 2D to stereoscopic 3D conversion studio with a dedicated 200-seat Incubation Centre.

The studio will commence operations with a 200-seat studio facility, and 50-seat incubation centre opposite Panjim’s St. Inez Church on VS Dempo Road. Set up as part of the company’s strategic expansion plans, phase one of the project is being executed in partnership with Mr. Diwakar R., a visionary and technology focussed entrepreneur. The main facility will come up shortly in North Goa.

Maya’s incubation program acts as a wonderful platform to fill the gap where education ends and professional work begins. The one-of-a-kind ‘Studio Ready Curriculum’ designed as per International Studio Standards by studio professionals gives budding animation, visual effects and 2D to stereoscopic 3D conversion professionals an opportunity to gain valuable production experience and the chance to work with a talented group of skilled professionals in a collaborative, energetic set up.

Course projects would include the animated TV series, The Adventures of Motu Patlu, based on the popular Indian comic brand, LotPot comics; The Centsables, an animated TV series from USA, 2D to Stereoscopic 3D conversion of the animated film Sons of Ram by ACK Media, and 2D to Stereoscopic 3D conversion of one Indian cinema’s cult classics, Sholay.

KSKHH fetches a whopping 22 crores courtesy Tusshar Kapoor’s Dostana act

The all-India distribution rights of Balaji’s Kya Super Kool Hai Hum has been sold for 21.6 cr to a Nagpur based distributor, and if sources are to be believed ,lead actor Tusshar Kapoor’s highly controversial scene in the mad-cap comedy acted as a huge catalyst for the buy.

Confirms Tusshar Kapoor “Yes, that cheeky shot created a huge buzz and fetched the film a great price. The all-India rights have been bought by Heera Laxmi for R21.60 crore. The sequence is a hilarious spoof on Dostana (2008), only we couldn’t get hold of yellow briefs like John Abraham’s so we had to make do with blue ones.”

Ask the actor if he was embarrassed while filming the shot and he is quick to reply “Everybody who needed to be there was present and I wasn’t the slightest bit embarrassed… I’m an actor playing a character who is out to seduce the woman he fancies. It’s not Tusshar but Adi you’ll be seeing on screen. And it’s not like I’m doing a Full Monty!”

While Tusshar followed a strict high protein diet with zero sugar, he also trained for 2 hours in the gym everyday and even cut out water 3 days before the shoot. And the actor is in no frame of mind to lose the body anytime soon – “I’ve never looked as lean and fit as I do in the Dostana sequence and even if I need to put on weight for my next film, I’d like to retain this level of fitness.”

After the runaway success of Balaji Motion Pictures ‘ 2005 hit comedy Kya Kool Hai Hum, the team of the film reunites for the rib-tickling sequel, titled Kya Super Kool Hai Hum directed by Sachin Yardi. Starring Tusshar Kapoor ,Riteish Deshmukh ,Neha Sharma and Sarah Jane Dias ,the film is scheduled to release 27th July,2012.

Jewellery brand giant signs on Ankita Shorey as brand ambassador

After sharing the stage with Shah Rukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor, where she hosted this year’s Filmfare Awards, Ankita Shorey, Miss India International 2011 has now been signed on as ambassador for leading jewellery brand Gitanjali -— previously endorsed by Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan —making her the first non-actress to be signed on by the brand.
