Mr. Samir Sagar, Director, Manubhai Jewellers on the occasion on Akshay Tritiya

Akshay Tritiya is considered to be such a day where one doesn’t need a favorable time or muhurat through the day, but the whole day is meant to be auspicious. The festival name ‘Akshaya’ itself means never diminishing in Sanskrit; and is believed to be a day blessed by the Hindu deity Goddess Lakshmi. It is further believed that purchase of gold on Akshay Tritiya, brings about a good fortune and growth in prosperity through the year. Therefore, gold buying is a key tradition on Akshay Tritiya, followed through generations.

Auspicious gold buying is a big trend in India. Each year consumers purchase gold in the form of gold coins or jewellery. Gold coins with the Goddess Lakshmi on them are preferred, but the regular NIBR coins too see a healthy demand. Usually, gold and antique jewellery too does well on account of many consumers shopping for their wedding jewellery. We have seen several younger customers scout for their desired jewellery piece before the festival and make the final purchase on Akshaya Tritiya.

The yellow metal has and still continues to be an integral part of the Indian culture. No marriage or festival in India is completely without gold. Even if it is just 5 gms, gold jewellery or bullion continues to occupy an important part of the gifting list among Indians today. Thus, irrespective of the recent price fluctuations, we expect a healthy demand and consumers will make gold purchases on Akshay Tritiya. As always, we continue to maintain a positive and optimistic outlook towards the market and foresee a good turnout.

Saurabh Gadgil, Managing Director, P. N. Gadgil Jewellers Pvt Ltd on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya

Akashay Tritiya is considered as one the most auspicious day for gold buying. Over the years the value of the occasion has not diminished, people still follow the generation’s old tradition of buying gold on the occasion. In the past couple of years there have been several jewellers have promoted the importance of gold buying on Akshay Tritya through their advertising campaigns.

I feel it would be wrong to say that the younger generation does not hold the same beliefs and traditions we follow. Over a period of time their purchasing power increased considerably and continues to do so. They too look forward to such days to purchase gold.  The general trend of buying gold coins and ornaments have increased over the years; we also see a rise in the demand for traditional heavy designs during this time.

The last few months have not been favorable in terms of sales for many jewellers across the country due to the fluctuations and new RBI norms. However, on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya the sales are 5 to 10 times more than on a normal day. Keeping this in mind we are optimistic for a positive turnout in the coming weeks.

Vishal Jain, Director, Zahav Jewels, on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya

Akshay Trititya is one of the luckiest days in the Indian calendar where gold buying is considered as a sign of good omen. Every Indian looks forward to bring in prosperity and success into their homes with Akshay Tritiya.

Considering the slow start we have had this year with the RBI regulations and fluctuations in gold rates we are looking forward to seeing a change in the current market situations. A rise in sales in the teir ll and teir lll cities is expected given the fact that gold buying is a generations old tradition which is still followed by many to this day. With the evergreen love Indian’s have for Gold, it is back in the scene. There was a short phase when diamonds dominated the trends however; gold dominant designs are now in fad. For Bridal Jewellery, people prefer traditional heavy pieces. Ancient techniques of jewellery making like meenakaari (enameling), texturing, jadau, etc are ruling the market.

Understanding the sentiments our customers attach to the metal, every year we launch a range of gold dominated jewellery line keeping the market trend in mind. However, like all our collections, our Akshay Tritiya range is not run of the mill typical collection. It has the contemporary twist that evokes sensuality and has a modern touch. This year’s Akshay Tritiya range is inspired from Italian designs. To add to the joy of our customer’s on the special occasion of Akshay Tritiya we are offering a flat 10% off on gold making charges.
