BJP, Bollywood Accept Veena Malik

No more outrages for Veena Malik in India. Bollywood has accepted her as an eye-candy and now slightly Indian politician accepting her to be the part of Hindu Celebration. BJP Mumbai President Raj Purohit had invited Veena Malik at holy celebration of “Krishna Janmastami” in Mumbai. She gear up as Radha and throbbed many hearts.

Excited Veena said, “It was a great day of my life. I never thought of been a special guest on such an auspicious day of India. Mumbai people are very loveable and they are very close to my heart. Mumbai is very lucky for me where my next film “Mumbai 125Kms” is going to release very soon.”

Citizen of India and Political Party’s slenderly accepting Pakistani actresses to make their mark in India. After so many political outrages between India and Pakistan now they are ready to forget all the past and start a new exuberance.

Maya Digital Studios’ first of its kind ‘In-Studio Training’ initiative for young animation, VFX & 3D stereoscopy professionals launched in Mumbai

MIST is a progressive step for the industry and will generate the studio-trained advance-skilled workforce that will drive the future of this industry in India

Mumbai, 11th August 2012: Maya Digital Studios’ much anticipated In-Studio Training facility, MIST, was launched at their Mumbai Studio on Saturday 11th August 2012. Maya has been associated with several pioneering initiatives for the Indian animation, visual effects & 3D stereoscopy industry. From creating the cultural and infrastructural base for the industry way back in the 1990s to working on the 3D conversion of Indian cinema’s legendary Sholay today, Maya has constantly offered something new and helped invaluably in the growth of this industry. Under their new initiative, MIST, the company will provide an advanced training based on Studio Ready Training Modules with employment at Maya’s studio facilities in Mumbai & Goa for budding professionals into this vibrant industry.

The initiative has already received a thunderous response from the artist community from across India. The opportunity to get to work on projects like Motu Patlu, Captain Vyom, Sholay 3D, Sons of Ram 3D, The Centsables amongst others, made sure that the artists attended in unprecedented numbers from the far and wide corners of the country. The artists will go through a meticulous selection process with the various heads of departments at Maya, who will then mentor the chosen MIST interns.

Speaking on the occasion, Aruna Kumar, Head of MIST & Studio Operations Goa for Maya stated, “The overwhelming countrywide response from the artists has corroborated the need for an initiative like MIST. It is the best possible platform for the budding professionals into this industry. With MIST we are sure that the benchmark for the studio skills of new joinees in this industry will be set, which will effectively contribute to the production efficiency and thereby to the industry. Our MIST mentors will focus on retaining almost all of the rich studio ready talent with Maya, even after their paid internship during the In-Studio training.”

On the occasion of the launch of MIST, Ketan Mehta, Chairman & Managing Director – Maya stated, “With MIST we are all set to fill the gap that exists between Animation & Visual Effects training and the studio environment. We often get software trained professionals who aren’t studio ready and training them separately leads to a decrease in production efficiency. With MIST, our focus is to bring in that efficiency in the operations of the studios right from the beginning.”

“The intention is to create the human resource ecosystem that will drive the future of this industry”, adds Deepa Sahi, Co-founder & Director – Maya said, “Our focus at Maya has always been on artists and with MIST we want to generate a pool of studio-trained, advance-skilled professionals who will drive the future growth of this industry.”

MIST will be a landmark step in the history of this industry and is all set to create never seen before standards for the industry.

About MIST

MIST is a first of its kind initiative by an Indian studio to provide an advanced training module for the young professionals, with an opportunity to work on live projects during the formative years of their careers. Under this initiative, there will be a dedicated training programme integrated within the studio facility, which focuses on a Studio Ready Training Modules.

Studio Ready Training Modules

Every professional needs a strong academic foundation. But only theoretical expertise cannot be your tool to excel in the professional world. Academic modules impart you with the basic skill-sets, but do not give you a taste of the real world, the studio environment. In order to overcome this hindrance in your path to professional success, we at Maya have designed special Studio Ready Training Modules which train you not merely in theory but give you the practical experience of working on live projects.

The focus at Maya is to create professionals who are ready to take on the studio world. Each training module has been structured in a manner that will bring the best of your creativity and channelize your energies in a manner that will help you perform and deliver your best within an actual studio environment. Thus, they are referred to as Studio Ready Training Modules.

One learns an entire gamut of skills required in the Animation, 3D Stereoscopy & Digital Visual Effects Industry. The aim is to stimulate you to develop critical judgment, sound research skills and an ability to think creatively while handling pressures and time frames.

Our Training Modules are dynamic and constantly upgraded to meet the industry requirements. We encourage you to experiment and innovate with different forms of communication and to explore your creativity to the fullest.

The Need for MIST

The animation and visual effects industry is a booming industry in India with a projected CAGR of 21% as predicted by the industry experts. 2D to stereoscopic 3D conversion has further triggered the growth of the industry by providing an additional broad-based, sustainable revenue stream to the industry.

Year on year, thousands of budding animation & visual effects professionals pass out from various training academies. The training academies thrive on the success of the industry and today there are multiple centres offering similar courses which perhaps make the candidates software ready. However, in spite of paying hefty fees for these vocational courses almost 70% of the software trained professionals do not secure a job within the first year of finishing the course. The career dreams of these thousands of budding studio professionals are shattered right at the beginning and the stories of the industry’s success become only glorified paper statistics for them.

From the studios’ perspective too this isn’t a healthy sign, as there is a serious lack of properly trained and skilled manpower. Since the industry doesn’t get the rightfully trained professionals, studios have to invest in the studio training of new joinees, thereby leading to increased production cycles and hence a reduction in production efficiency. This is a potential hindrance for a growing industry. The primary reasons for this imbalance in the industry’s harmony are:

Disconnect in the industry requirements & course curricula at the training institutes
Training institutes typically focus on software knowledge rather than making them production ready
None of the faculty members are practicing industry professionals

Sensing this need for the industry and more importantly in order to impart the right studio relevant skills to the young animation, visual effects and 3D stereoscopy enthusiasts, Maya Digital Studios has strategically launched MIST. MIST will provide the right stepping stone into the studio careers of those who are passionate about this magical industry but don’t know how to approach and conquer the milestones of success. MIST strives to provide the best in industry training and live project work to the students at the very beginning of their careers, effectively positioning them, leaps ahead of their peers both in terms of training as well as experience.

The highlights of MIST

In an industry first, MIST brings practicing industry professionals face to face with the beginners in a freewheeling interaction through the training and live project work. The exchange of ideas between the industry veterans and passionate young minds will facilitate a symbiotic learning environment where the skills learnt will not be restricted to any computer softwares.

The techniques highlighted within the courses are not software dependent and would thus be adapted seamlessly across all the existing as well as evolving software platforms.

An internship on live projects is perhaps the best way to learn and make a mark for oneself in the industry of one’s own choice and that is exactly what MIST brings for the budding animation, visual effects & 3D stereoscopy professionals.

MIST is a significant step for the industry, which will not only create a pool of advanced skilled employees but will further boost the employability of those who are passionate about this industry.

Indian Deana Uppal misses out winning Big Brother!

Reacting to the news about Indian girl Deana Uppal losing out to win Big Brother, Bollywood PR guru Dale Bhagwagar, who happens to be the ex-publicist of former winner Shilpa Shetty, said he felt “saddened for Deana.”

The 23-year-old Miss India UK finished the 2012 British series in the third place, after being the most nominated Housemate of the whole season.

When asked if Deana lost out because of unfair comparisons to Shilpa Shetty, Dale remarked, “Glory is always individual to the person who attains it. Matching up to past magnificence, has never been an easy task for anyone. Thus, all comparisons between Shilpa Shetty and Deana Uppal have always been unfair.”

The PR specialist, who nurtured Brand Shilpa Shetty in the media through the thick and thin of Big Brother controversies, pointed out valid comparative occurrences on the show, which he termed, “the world’s biggest reality drama”.

“There were similar instances, like fights over food and culture, verbal attacks followed by thousands of complaints to UK television watchdog Ofcom, as well as alleged insinuations of racism. All this brought back memories of Shilpa’s plight,” he observed.

While the comparisons might have helped Deana with a platform to make a mark on the show; unlike Shilpa, Deana who was accused of playing the ‘race card’ seemed to have no organized PR mechanism in place, to turn the controversial affairs in her favour.

Christian Groups Take KSKHH Battle to Parliament
Delegation Meets I & B Minister and MPs for Action
I & B Minister Assures Departmental Inquiry & to Sensitize Censor Board
MPs – Sanjay Nirupam (Mumbai) and Shantaram Naik (Goa) Call for Police to Act

The union minister for information and broadcasting, Ms. Ambika Soni has taken strong exception to the release of Kya Super Kool Hai Hum (KSKHH) to a delegation of the Catholic Secular Forum (CSF), Catholic Residents Organization for Social Services (CROSS), Association of Concerned Catholics (AOCC) and Maharashtra Christian Youth Forum (MCYF) that called on her and assured departmental action. The minister has also passed several strictures against those in the Censor Board, who were responsible for issuing the film a certificate, without deleting the offensive scenes and promised an internal inquiry would be conducted.

The delegation from Mumbai comprising Joseph Dias (CSF), Lawrence D’souza (CROSS), Gordon Jacobs (AOCC) and Agnelo Fernandes (MCYF) met the minister and a number of members of Parliament, who have taken a serious view of movie, which is not only vulgar, but also degrades women and hurts religious sentiments of the Christian community. Reacting on the complaints made by the delegation, Mr. Sanjay Nirupam, MP from Mumbai called upon Ms. Ambika Soni to delete the necessary scenes and special care be taken to ensure that public order and disharmony is not disturbed by the passage of such sensitive films. Among the Parliamentarians, whom groups had complained to, included Mr. Shantaram Naik, MP from Goa, who said he was allowed to raise the issue in the Rajya Sabha, but could not do so because of disruption in the House and would take it up again.

The Christian groups have decided to intensify their protests to get the scenes deleted or to get action taken by the Mumbai police, who have filed two FIRs in the Bandra and Mahim police stations. Archie Sodder of Catholics for the Preservation of the Faith (CPF) called upon the Police Commissioner to complete the investigations as soon as possible and act against the offenders. Lawrence D’souza of CROSS said that since Section 295A of the IPC is a cognizable offense, the police can exercise its powers and prevent exhibition of the film. According to Agnelo Fernandes of MCYF, the movie-makers had taken the sentiments of Christians for granted and used Catholic priests in such an offensive manner. If they had used priests from any other community, there would have been riots, he added.

Joseph Dias, The CSF general secretary called for the resignation of the Censor Board chairperson Ms. Leela Samson claiming moral responsibility for dereliction of duty, as the Censor Board had lost its credibility and was reduced to a lobby for the film industry, rather than being a promoter of good cinema. He stated that if no action was taken against those who passed the film and also those involved in making the film, the groups would seek legal redress and also pursue the matter with the national policy makers for legislation that prevents blasphemy of any religion and stricter rules for the Censor Board to avoid a re-occurrence. He concluded that India being a religiously sensitive country, all faiths must be respected and such ridicule or parody in the name of freedom of expression or ‘fun’ must not be allowed.

This Independence Day, Keep Cyber Crooks at bay

India, August 14, 2012: As we celebrate 65 years of India’s freedom in the physical world, the virtual world confronts us with rising attacks by cyber criminals robbing us of the freedom to operate freely on the internet. With 12.1 crore internet users*, the internet continues to be the primary cyber-attack vector for Indians. This is corroborated by the latest McAfee threat report which indicates that the average spam volume in India from April 2011 to March 2012 stood at an astonishing 60,000,000 and 250,000 new bot senders were also discovered in India through this period. So, while India has been quick to adopt the internet for activities such as online bill payments, bank transactions, shopping and so on, the lack of user awareness on the dangers while on the internet makes them an easy target for cyber crooks. Naive internet users are ‘Phished’ and cyber criminals are rewarded with unauthorised access to credit card details, personal information and various other important data. Additionally innocent children are ‘stalked’ as they fall victim to strangers in the guise of friends.

On the occasion of Independence Day, Venkatasubrahmanyam Krishnapur, Vice-President of Engineering – Consumer and Mobile, McAfee India recommends some of the best practices to minimise your risk on the internet and keep cyber-crooks at bay.

1. Transfer your PC best practices to ALL of your Internet-connected devices. Install up-to-date security software on your PCs AND other mobile devices. According to McAfee’s Global Unprotected Rates report, India was the 10th least protected country with 17.32% of consumers without security protection software installed on their PCs.

2. Do not reveal your passwords to anyone. Also construct STRONG passwords that include a combination of capitals and small letters, numerals and special characters that are difficult to decipher. Change your password periodically.

3. Use ‘safe search’ technology: For example, use McAfee SiteAdvisor for computers or SiteAdvisor Mobile for smartphones to avoid running into dangerous websites. These can tell you if a site is safe to click on when it shows up in your search results even BEFORE you enter the site.

4. Always be very careful when responding to email and clicking on links embedded in email- especially if the sender is not your contact.

5. Be intelligent, stay safe! Be wary of phony websites, emails, texts and pop-ads offering ’too good to be true’ deals or offers. Be extremely careful with what you download. Poorly written applications are a source for exploits and malicious applications can create havoc on both personal and digital life.

6. Regularly back-up the data on your smartphone or laptop and consider deleting any personal information that isn’t necessary.

7. Don’t let your apps remember your user names and passwords: Also make sure you don’t store credit card information or passwords on websites. If your smartphone or laptop is lost criminals can easily access these accounts.

8. Educate your family and pay attention to your children’s online activities.

9. Never divulge personal and banking information on the Internet.

10. Especially control the information you divulge and what you post on Social websites. Remember your posts are stored forever.

11. Turn off the geo-tagging feature on your smartphone before posting photos on sites like Facebook to avoid your location information falling into the wrong hands.

12. Check your settings in Preferences of social websites and control the information you want to send or disclose. By default most websites reveal almost everything that you do on that website to everyone.

13. Use lock, locate and wipe software for mobile devices when your device is stolen as appropriate—Software such as McAfee Mobile Security not only includes lock, locate, and wipe capabilities, but it also offers antivirus and anti-spyware protection.

In a nutshell – STOP, THINK and then CONNECT. It is a combination of discipline on the internet and the right technology that you employ that will give you the freedom you desire on the internet.

Aashish Kapoor aka Sahil of Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage- During my childhood days in Delhi, me and my dad used to go to India Gate. I still miss those parades. On this 15th August, I haven’t planned anything but might be busy shooting. I really love my country and people out here. I just want to say that every Indian should respect their motherland and should be responsible towards little things, then only everything is going to be better.

Rishka Mihani aka Shivani of Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage – I will be off from work on Independence Day and will surely spend time with my family. Every year I watch parade on television. Every Independence Day I specially wear white kurta, green dupatta, and chudidar and I have been doing this since childhood as I used to participate in programs. I want our country to become safer for girls; where girls can roam around freely. Also I want more hospitals and free medical for the unfortunates. Our India is very good country but we can make it better.

Samaira Rao aka Mansi of Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage -. I personally strive for care, compassion & simplicity. Be a giver than a taker. Care for every living be it a man or animal. I want all Indians to walk together to make our India the best place to be in and always be a proud Indian. This 15th August, I’ll spend it with my family.

Mohit Malhotra aka Kartik of Bade Acche Laggte Hain- I would like to fly kites which I won’t be able to do in mumbai, for sure. So, will probably have a get together with friends and have a little party celebrating Independence Day. I would like India to have more of Anna Hazares & his dream of Corruption-free India come true. Because will definitely help India to move forward in a very positive direction.
