Flynn Remedios: Over 500 models and freshers sign up for Fashion Walkathon in an attempt to set two new World Records

Flynn Remedios: Over 500 models and freshers sign up for Fashion Walkathon in an attempt to set two new World Records  Saturday 9th August, 2014: Speaking at a select press briefing in Mumbai on Saturday, senior journalist and publicist-turned fashion designer Flynn Remedios told media persons that over 500 male and female models, freshers and first-timers have already signed up for the FMN Fashion Pageant and the IndyaNewz Fashion Walkathon – two connected events that will attempt to break and set two new world records – one for the longest continuous fashion show and the second for the longest fashion ramp in the world.

Some of the well-known actors and models who have signed up for this unique project include Anjana B, Disha Paul, Arshi Khan, Nisha Yadav, Pamela Mehta, Chandini Puri, Seema Bedi and many others. In addition to the above, about 50 Bollywood and Television actors, 15 well-known musicians, 25 businessmen and hundreds of students have expressed their interest in participating in the Fashion Walkathon. The IndyaNewz Fashion Walkathon is a unique event wherein participating models and individuals will walk a distance of 5 kms wearing a particular designer’s outfits. “One need not be a professional model to participate and there will be stops or laps of 500 meters, 1000 meters and so on. Participants can choose the distance of their choice,” said Remedios who is currently the Editor and Publisher of several Bollywood gossip websites including IndyaNewz.com, Newz66.com, AsiaWire.in, Tamasha.in, etc.

Well-known Bollywood, fashion and news photographers like Raju Asrani, Camaal Mustafa Sikander, Bhavar Mali, Dileep Soni, Ramakant Munde, Siraj Syed and almost 40 others will track the event through their lenses.

“We need about 1000 models, 100 fashion designers, fashion design students, stylists, 25 or more choreographers, and others to make this gigantic project possible,” explained Remedios who was a former economist with The Stock Exchange, Mumbai and worked as a journalist with the Times of India, The Indian Express, The Economic Times, The Asian Age, Free Press Journal and other newspapers over a span of 18-odd years.

“We are doing both events for charity. To support Indian tailors, small designers, artisans, craftsmen, etc. The theme and focus is on Indian Traditional Outfits. The 100-odd designers will attempt to create and display designs and outfits including footwear, headgear and accessories from the 26 Indian states. There will be western wear on display too, but the focus is on Indian wear.” Remedios, said. A fashion bazaar will host about 200 stalls for designers, shoes, garment and accessory manufacturers and others from the Apparel and Textile industry. Indian craftsmen and tailors in small towns and cities lead a pathetic and poor life and the show aims to spur demand from the small and unorganized sector and bring international buyers in direct contact with smaller manufacturers, Remedios explained.

An adjudicator from the Guinness World Records will be present during the entire event and will verify the facts of the record before handing over the official certificates for the two World Records. Every participating model, actor, designer, stylist, photographer and make-up person will get a certificate declaring him or her to be part of an international attempt to successfully set a new world record.
