Bollywood’s TOP 10 Brides…The Ultimate Countdown

Bollywood’s TOP 10 Brides…The Ultimate Countdown

The wedding season has arrived and if the would-be-brides are perplexed and still haven’t decided how their bridal outfits are going to look, here is a countdown of the TOP 10 on-screen Bollywood brides who you can look upto for inspiration and some quick tips.

Bollywood’s Top 10 brides brought to you exclusively by BIG RJ Karisma Kapoor, host of the special segment “BIG ON STYLE” on 92.7 BIG FM’s woman afternoon show BIG Memsaab

No. 10: Preity Zinta in Kal Ho Naa Ho

Portrayed as an extrovert yet tame and docile character in the superhit blockbuster Kal Ho Na Ho, the lively and energetic Preity Zinta bags the 10th position for the most stylish on-screen Bollywood bride. Adorned in a bright and glittering Fuchsia pink Salwaar Kameez, the look is a perfect take-away for the typical Punjabi bride. Trouble-free, light-weight attire with minimal accessories – the look is perfect for this season.

No. 9: Priyanka Chopra in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi

Resetting a trend for would-be-brides, actress Priyanka Chopra appears well-clad in a red lehenga with a contrast blue velvet choli in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. Standing at number nine, Piggy Chops brought out a unique style to the typical authentic bridal look. Young brides who love to experiment can try on this contrast which will surely stand out. My favorite contrasting set of colors are red and orange, pink and red, white and red, red and emerald green.

No. 8: Rani Mukherjee in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna

Known for her wide selection of traditional outfits and blending cultural ethnicity with newer trends, Rani Mukherjee takes on the 8th position as the most stylish on-screen Bollywood bride. For all those who love the traditional authentic red and maroon combination, Rani’s bridal look in the film Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna is just the perfect look. Use her idea of minimal accessories, put on the fun element and try using different materials like silk, georgette or net with different kinds of embroidery like crystal work, diamond work or taar work to give a modern flavor to your outfit. For brides picking on a common lehenga colour, add more style by topping it up with contrasting jewellery. For instance, if you’re wearing a red lehenga, pair it up with gold and emeralds so that the colors stand out.

No. 7: Katrina Kaif in Namaste London

Popularly known for her chic western style, the dazzling actress Katrina Kaif stands at number 7 as the most stylish on-screen bride. Very unusual yet traditional, the actress looks absolutely stunning in a white off-shoulder full-length gown in the wedding scene in her movie Namaste London. Nowadays, coloured wedding gowns have become more distinct and visible in Christian weddings. Brides like to keep it simple yet stylish by opting for either white gowns or long gowns in different colours. With evolving change in fashion, we witness shades of beige and lemon yellow in Hollywood as well. The idea of having a common or similar dress for bridesmaids is very interesting and looks elegant as well.

No. 6: Preity Zinta in Veer Zara

Popularly known for her cheerful and happy-go-lucky on-screen character, the vivacious actress Preity Zinta dons the 5th position for the most stylish on-screen Bollywood bride. As the country went gaga over Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta’s love saga in Veer Zara, the beautiful bridal look donned by Preity Zinta in the movie became unforgettable. The style and outfit was unusual because of the white dupatta which had shades of purple on the border. Beautifully designed by Manish Malhotra, this attire brought with it a new trend of knee-length kurtis and long ghaghras.

No. 5: Yami Gautam in Vicky Donor

Punjab Di Kudi, more prominently recognized as the Fair and Lovely girl, the versatile actress Yami Gautam stands in 5th place as the most stylish on-screen bollywood bride with her phenomenal look in her debut film Vicky Donor. Her simple yet stylish look in a silk saree was fabulous. For all those young working women who like to keep it subtle and quiet, you should go for this look. It’s highly recommendable. A light and less glittery saree could also make a perfect wedding outfit.

No. 4: Katrina Kaif in Singh is King

The gorgeous lady of tinsel-town, Katrina Kaif bags the 4th position for her bridal look from the movie Singh is King. A perfect combination of traditional red and green color was definitely an appealing factor but what stood out from the usual was the distinct drape which gave her attire a different look.

No. 3: Deepika Padukone in Love Aaj Kal

Known for her bold yet glamorous appearance on–screen, one cannot forget Deepika Padukone’s beautiful bridal avatar in the movie Love Aaj Kal. A perfect combination of pale pink and silver, paired with simple make-up, added modern appeal which was the perfect look for her. It’s advisable to avoid make-up with similar colours and tones as the bridal outfit to break the monotony and add a little flavor to your overall look.

No. 2: Kangna Ranaut in Tanu Weds Manu

Best remembered for her tantrum throwing avatar in the movie Fashion, the spunky and fun-loving actress took everyone by surprise with her peculiar traditional fashion style in the film Tanu Weds Manu. Her exuberant bridal outfit in emerald green color with tints of silver work was unusual yet stylish harmonizing with her chirpy and gutsy attitude. Young and zesty girls out there can probably use a similar look and also try out other bright colors like purple, lilac and blend it with silver work, tangerine, light or dark orange with gold work and other coral colours.

No. 1: Kareena Kapoor in 3 Idiots

Gorgeous actress Kareena Kapoor beats all and stands at Number 1 when it comes to fashion and style with a perfect blend of attitude and persona. Who can forget the beautiful woman dressed in her bridal best while riding a scooter in the movie 3 Idiots? The full-sleeve anakarli outfit seen in the movie is the perfect attire for brides this winter. Offbeat yet stylish, the outfit is an attempt to break the usual monotony of adopting cap sleeves, half sleeves or off-shoulders for your bridal dress. Brides in Delhi, if you are worried about the decreasing temperatures in the city and equally tensed about the bridal look, this is definitely the right choice for you.

Uttar Pradesh Wizards Prepare to Take on Unbeaten Delhi Waveriders at Guru Gobind Singh Sports College, Lucknow

Lucknow, 18 January 2013: Delhi Waveriders and Uttar Pradesh Wizards, the two unbeaten sides of the Hero Hockey India League, face each other in a highly anticipated clash in Lucknow on Saturday.

Having won two out of two games, Waveriders would be high on confidence. And so would be the Wizards, after having beaten Jaypee Punjab Warriors in their opener on Thursday. In addition, Wizards would be playing their first home game of the tournament, which shouldn’t be too long a journey for Waveriders either.

Scoring three wins in a row can be a big step forward towards making it to the summit clash, and Waveriders would do everything possible to achieve that. Keeping the winning momentum going is also important, and that would also be on the Waveriders’ mind.

It’s an 11.30 AM start for the game, which takes the dew factor and weather conditions out of the equations.

Wizards’ Spanish midfielder David Alegre and Jeroen Hertzberger combined brilliantly to score their opener against Warriors on Thursday, and the Waveriders would do well to keep an eye on the duo, as well as Raghunath, Wizards’ skipper. Raghunath made some excellent runs against the Warriors in Wizards’ last game, and that’s good news for his team. Raghunath’s form would be crucial for Wizards’ against Waveriders, as well as their fortunes in the tournament.

Towards the end of the game, Warriors really came very hard at the Wizards, but their defence held on well. That is something that would have impressed coach Roelant Oltmans, who has also been appointed as the Indian hockey’s high performance director.

Waveriders have had a two-day rest and would be raring to keep their top spot in the standings. Drag flicker Rupinder Pal Singh finding form in their previous game, against Mumbai Magicians, would have made the team management quite happy. Rupinder, after having missed a few opportunities against Warriors in the tournament opener, scored via a penalty corner against the Magicians. Waveriders would expect a similar or even better performance from their star drag flicker, and Wizards would be quite aware of his goal-scoring abilities.

Waveriders played a very attacking game, and dominated three of the four quarters against Magicians. It won’t be surprising if they opt for a similar strategy against Wizards on Saturday.

Speaking about the tomorrow’s game Delhi Waveriders Coach Dr. Ajay Kumar Bansal said, “The boys have put up a great show up till now in the first two matches. A good attacking and defensive approach has taken us to the top of the table and we plan to continue in the way. Not conceding early games against our opponents have kept the pressure of us. The ‘talent pool’ has performed very well in the last two matches and we are very confident that we will win the third match as well.”

“The team is very confident since we have performed consistently and won two matches. Our aggressive strategy seems to be working for us and we plan to play according it. We plan to deliver to the best of our ability to win yet another match tomorrow against Uttar Pradesh Wizards.” Stated skipper Sardar Singh said

The Hero Hockey India League is organised by Hockey India, with official sanction from the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The inaugural season is being played from January 14 to February 10, 2013 in a home-and-away format. The five franchisee-based teams, consisting of the top hockey players from India and around the world, will compete for the prestigious trophy. Hero Motocorp Ltd. is the Title Sponsor of the league while Airtel is the Associate Sponsor. Star Sports, who is the Broadcast Partner, will be telecasting all matches live.

Saturday Game 19th January: Uttar Pradesh Wizards vs Delhi Waveriders at the Guru Gobind Singh Sports College at 11.30 a.m.

Priyanka’s daredevil act at COLORS Screen Awards leaves audience speechless

Priyanka Chopra’s performance, which was a tribute to the year gone by, was one of the highlights of the COLORS Screen Awards. The audience was left speechless when Priyanka decided to hang on to a hug Ganesh cutout at least 100 feet high from the ground during an Aarti dedicated to the year 2013. Priyanka along with a few extras who were dressed as apsaras performed on ‘Deva re Deva, Ganpati Deva’ and received a lot of applause and cheer from the audience. Although this performance was a delight for the audience to watch, her family was super nervous on the risk PC was taking. Her mother and brother kept consoling each other and were about to cry seeing PC perform. At the same time the family kept applauding and cheering her. Well this might be a daredevil act for many of her peers but for the brave actor who has previously hosted shows like Khatron Ke Khiladi, this gutsy yet beautiful performance is another feather in her cap.

Ranchi Rhinos go on top with clinical win over Mumbai Magicians

Ranchi, 18 January 2013: Ranchi Rhinos sounded the warning bells for all their opponents scheduled to visit the citadel of the Jharkhand team when they outplayed Mumbai Magicians 3-1 in their first home game of the Hero Hockey India League here on Friday.

The Gregg Clark coached side, whose slogan is ‘Nas nas mein hockey’ (hockey is in our blood), rode on the vociferous support of their supporters at the jam-packed Birsa Munda Hockey stadium to register their second straight victory in the competition and go on top of the league standings with 10 points.

Delhi Waveriders also have 10 points from two encounters but the Rhinos took the pole position due to better goal difference.

“To be honest I just have to say thank you Ranchi,” said Ranchi Rhinos skipper Moritz Furste after the match. “We are very happy the way we are playing and hope to continue the good run.”

Playing for the first time in front of their home crowd, the Rhinos were obviously a motivated lot and that showed every time they had the ball in their possession.

They pressed ahead in numbers and it was Vikas Choudhary who drew first blood for the hosts in the 10thminute when he poached a goal after a cross from the right.

The Rhinos dominated the proceedings throughout the first half and created numerous chances and were duly rewarded with two more goals before the half time mark.

In the 23rd minute, Mumbai Magicians goalkeeper P R Sreejesh stopped a shot from Moritz Furste but young Mandeep Singh was quick to pounce on the rebound and slotted home the ball.

Six minutes later, Choudhary turned creator when he showed the presence of mind to earn his team’s first penalty corner after dribbling past two defenders to enter the striking circle. South African Austin Smith made no mistake with the drag-flick.

Mumbai showed more purpose in the second half and created quite a bit of pressure on the home side and were duly rewarded for their effort when K Chinglensana Singh converted their second penalty corner on the rebound, 11 minutes into the second half.

The visitors continued to press ahead looking for goals but were thwarted by Rhinos goalkeeper Franscisco Cortes.

However, their challenge suffered a major blow when Anup Valmiki was shown the yellow card in the 62ndminute for a body tackle on the Rhino defender and that pegged the Magicians back when they needed all the fire power to stage a comeback.

Man-of-the-Match Birendra Lakra said at the post-match press conference that crowd supported them well and their houseful presence motivated them through-out the match. “For any team, playing at home ground is a pressure but the support we received today was very motivating,” he stated and added: “We had some problem of coordination among player in the beginning of the match but after spending few minutes on the turf, we overcame this problem.”

Mumbai Magicians’ coach Richard Charlesworth is still working the coordination among the players. “It takes time to develop good coordination among players and all teams are facing the same problem. We are working on it,” the coach added.

Skipper Liam De Young accepted the fact that there were soft errors for which the team lost today. “There are still some areas left where we need to work. Due to some basic errors, we lost the match today,” he said.

Uttar Pradesh Wizards Start Hero Hockey India League on a Winning Note

Jalandhar, 17th January 2013: Jaypee Punjab Warriors’ wait for a victory was extended to three games on Thursday when the hosts succumbed to a 2-1 loss against Uttar Pradesh Wizards in the inaugural Hero Hockey India League at the Surjit Singh stadium here.

Looking for that elusive win, the Punjab side came out all guns blazing against the Wizards but their inability to convert the four penalty corners and a stroke of bad luck cost the Jamie Dwyer led side dearly.

With both teams locked at 1-1, an error from Warrior’s goalkeeper Jaap Stockmann handed the lead to the Wizards in the 58th minute and the visitors ensured that there were no last minute hiccups.

Stockmann, who was outstanding under the bar till then, inadvertently directed a hit of Wizards’ skipper V R Raghunath into his own goal.

Earlier, Jeroen Hertzberger had put the Wizards ahead in the 17th minute but Dwyer got his team back in the match with a 40th minute strike.

“We seem to not find goals. Also we have conceded three own goals and that is an area of concern,” said Dwyer, while referring to the second goal of Wizards.

But for that stroke of bad luck, the Warriors did everything to change their fortunes. They showed the intent to push more bodies forward from the start and the approach looked like bearing fruit as the Warriors registered regular circle penetration in the first quarter and even earned two penalty corners.

Sukhdev Singh got the best opportunity to put his team in the lead in the 15th minute but he could not give the right direction to a pin-point cross from his captain Jamie Dwyer.

And the visitors made them pay for the lapse immediately. Spanish midfielder David Alegre made a fine run inside the striking circle from the right and Joleh Hertzberger had to only tap in his cross to put the Wizards in lead.

But the hosts showed more intent after the half time and were duly rewarded when Dwyer tapped in to equalise after Shivender Singh had surged in from the right.

Both teams then upped the ante to find the winner and it was finally a stroke of luck that handed five full points to the Wizards.

Coach Barry Dancer Said “We missed too many opportunities today; else we would have had a better score line. The team has improved and is doing well and i am happy with our play. We should have a better game with Mumbai.”

Speaking about the team’s victory Coach Oltmans said “We are happy with our first game, our goal keeper being the best in Australia has performed really well here. We changed our strategy from the third quarter and attached which worked really well for us.”

Interesting battle likely between Mumbai Magicians and home team

Ranchi Rhinos

Ranchi, 17 January 2013: Two teams with different starts will go head to head in the Hero Hockey India League, when Ranchi Rhinos take on Mumbai Magicians at home on Friday.

Ranchi Rhinos got off to a good start on Wednesday, when they handed Jaypee Punjab Warriors their second successive defeat in an away game. Rhinos, who have invested a lot in local talent, defended extremely well towards the end stages of the game on Wednesday, and the team management would love to see a similar performance from the backline against Magicians.

Mumbai Magicians suffered a 1-2 loss at the hands of Delhi Waveriders on Wednesday, and would be keen to score a win against Rhinos to get their campaign back on track. Having lost the opener in Delhi, Magicians have now travelled to Ranchi, leaving them with very less time to prepare for Friday’s game..

Magicians were dominated in the first three quarters of the match by Waveriders, and the team think tank would like to see them to be a bit more aggressive at the start. They made a match out of it in the final quarter, and, perhaps, there is some clue as to how Magicians would like to play in the future games. They almost sealed a draw on Wednesday, before Sandeep Singh’s penalty stroke in the last minute hit the cross-bar. Such a loss can take a lot out of a team psychologically and Magicians and Singh in particular, would need to forget Wednesday’s experience as soon as possible.

Rhinos were quite solid in their game against Warriors, but couldn’t keep possession of the ball for long periods. Like their Friday’s opponents Magicians, Rhinos also started quite cautiously on Wednesday. And that’s understandable, considering the fact that both the teams were playing their first game of the tournament. Hence, it would be interesting to see which team takes the charge at the start on Friday.

Both teams’ preparations would also involve the travelling factor, having played in Jalandhar on Wednesday. But then, playing at home has its own advantages, and Rhinos would be keen to exploit them.

Their English recruit Ashley Jackson was on target through a drag-flick on Wednesday, and he would be one guy that the Magicians would need to be wary of.

For Magicians, star striker Sandeep Singh finding form in the opener is good news. His last minute missed penalty stroke not standing, Singh looked dangerous against Waveriders, and managed to score his team’s only goal.

It could be quite an interesting battle between the Magicians frontline, led by Sandeep Singh, against the solid and strong defense of Ranchi Rhinos.

At a pre-match press conference held today Mr. Saurabh Dugar co-owner of Ranchi Rhinos said “The response and support we have received has been stupendous and we look forward to a grand opening tomorrow. Tomorrow’s opening ceremony at 6 p.m. will be hosted by Mandira Bedi and we have in store some catchy Bollywood performances and laser shows for our locals. We are really confident about our team and have complete faith in their performance in this tournament.”

Speaking on his coaching experience and the team’s performance Coach Gregg Clark said “It has been a herculean task to handle players from different countries, but we have managed to break the ice and have come together as a team. It’s been fun all along and we seem to be doing quite well for ourselves in this tournament. We look forward to our games and are confident in our performance”

The opening ceremony is set to begin tomorrow 18th January 2013, at 6 p.m. and the match will kick off at 8 p.m. at the Astroturf Hockey Stadium, Ranchi.

The Hero Hockey India League is organised by Hockey India with official sanction from the International Hockey Federation (FIH). DIRECTOR DARREN CRAIG ON KE$HA’S NEW VIDEO

C’MON

Unsurprisingly, the music video for Ke$ha’s new song “C’mon” touches on familiar territory for dedicated Ke$ha enthusiasts. The story line in the new clip, which dropped Friday (January 11), is all about having fun, being the life of a party and inviting a few of your furry friends along for the ride.

MTV News caught up with director Darren Craig to get the inside scoop on how the vision for “C’mon” came together, explaining that the goal of the video wasn’t so much to create a logical story line as it was to throw a fun party.

“There’s not a huge narrative story. It’s about having fun, right? That’s a lot of what Ke$ha is about, is fun, being uninhibited,” said Craig, who also directed her “Die Young” video. “I think that’s what a lot of her fans respect about her, is she gets to be the kind of Tyler Durden from ‘Fight Club’ [and live] the life that a lot of younger girls might really want to live.”

Although the majority of the action in “C’mon” involves fun and games, there is an introductory section in the clip that sheds some real light on the singer’s blue-collar roots.

“She is from Nashville and she grew up working her ass off and really had to work hard to get where she is,” Craig said. “So we wanted to show this idea of this small-Southern-town girl working in this Southern diner who was just really unhappy and how we could blast out of that lifestyle and into this other alternate dimension and really move more into Planet Ke$ha.”

A planet all her own sounds about right for the “Blow” singer, but what happens when you take a trip there?

“Planet Ke$ha, what we’ve illustrated here, is about fun and about just random craziness,” Craig said. “It was really fun. She’s obviously a huge animal lover, and … everything I’ve done with her, we try to include animals in some way. She calls her fans her Animals, so it’s her partying with animals and weird furry ones. It was just really fun.”

“Ab Humari Baari Hai”

Superstar and Brand Ambassador, Shah Rukh Khan launched the first ever ‘Toyota University Cricket Championship (TUCC)’, supported by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and NDTV at the Taj Lands End in Mumbai today. This exciting new campaign, to encourage cricket at the university level, aims at discovering, nurturing and promoting young hopefuls and providing national exposure to extraordinary sporting talent. As the slogan of the TUCC states, ‘Ab Humari Baari Hai’.

While Mr Sandeep Singh, DMD & COO – Marketing & Commercial, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Shah Rukh Khan joined Dr Prannoy Roy, Chairperson, NDTV and Mr Vikram Chandra, CEO NDTV Group to announce the start of the ‘championship’, the HRD Minister, Dr MM Pallam Raju and Minister of State, HRD, Dr Shashi Tharoor lent their support from New Delhi via satellite. Also giving the BCCI blessings to this initiative was the President of the BCCI, Shri N Srinivasan. An enthused audience included Mr Hidehisa Nagae, Executive Managing Coordinator- Director, CR & Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor; Mr Piyush Pandey, Executive Chairman and Creative Director, South Asia Ogilvy & Mather India and former BCCI Member, Mr Amrit Mathur, both part of a Rohinton Baria winning team in their university days; Mr Narayan Rao, Executive Vice Chairperson, NDTV Group; college Principals and students among others.

The Championship aims to revive the spirit of education with sports. It is a platform for aspiring young cricketing talent to prove their mettle and stand tall in front of the nation. A first of its kind, this Championship will provide quality live programming to college students from across the country.

Addressing the audience Dr MM Pallam Raju, the HRD Minister said: “I am happy that the HRD Ministry is a part of this great initiative. Sports is an essential requirement in the process of development … Am sure we can reach international levels with this good beginning. This will help identify talent that can contribute to both the national and international levels… I hope the passion that Shah Rukh Khan has shown he puts in his involvement in this. University sports strengthens ties between Alumni and their colleges and I hope it will have the same effect in branding university sports.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Prannoy Roy, Chairperson, NDTV, said “NDTV has always supported education and sports through several very successful campaigns. Taking a big step forward, we are very pleased to announce the Toyota University Cricket Championship as a platform to nurture young talent in the field of cricket and help discover the next generation’s cricketing heroes. We look to everyone to support and boost university cricket in India.”

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sandeep Singh, DMD and COO, TKM said, “Toyota University Cricket Championship is a special project for us and we are very glad to encourage and promote university level cricket in India. Toyota’s foray into this new venture is in line with our global philosophy of creating a sense of ‘WAKU DOKI’, which in Japanese means ‘excitement, joy and fun.’

With the help of our partners NDTV, we have planned a very aggressive marketing campaign for TUCC which will entail a blitz of promotion and BTL activities starting today till the 17th of February and a number of contests and other attractions from February 17th till the 10th of March, 2013. We will also run very exciting contests for the young participants from the audience who will be eligible to win a brand new Toyota Etios Liva. We will also gift a Toyota Etios to the man of the series,” continued Mr. Singh.

Coca Cola are Associate Sponsors of the Championship, and Mr Venkatesh Kini, Senior VP Operations – India, Coca Cola added “Our purpose of associating with sports tournament is twofold. On one hand, it helps identify and promote young talent and gives them a well charted course to make their careers in sports, on the other; it helps us get youngsters into sports arenas and grounds. With change in lifestyles, we are not spending as much time playing as we would do in our childhood. Also sports promote social cohesiveness and well-being and hence Coca-Cola has always taken a very active position in sports.”

He further added, “This initiative with NDTV is unique in the sense that, other than the cricket itself, this also has components of coaching, education in physical well-being and nutrition etc. We are confident that this tournament can emerge as a powerful youth mobilization programme.”

On being introduced as Brand Ambassador, Shah Rukh Khan, said, “Everything I am today I learnt through sports. We need to promote sports and start at grass root levels. This in one of the finest initiatives and any aspect that I can be a part of I will do.” Saying that he was “thrilled to be personally involved” he carried on to say that he was a “big believer that sports of all kinds should be backed by big businesses”. He also said that being appreciated as a sportsperson goads everyone to do better in all aspects of life and that the wins and losses in sports teaches young people to value their struggles in life. Adding that he hoped there would be a time when parents encouraged their children to choose a career to become professional sportspersons, he said “I can’t wait for the day when kids can say I want to be a professional sportsman”

The TUCC is an extension of the Rohinton Baria Tournament and the Championship matches will begin in 2013. The top eight teams from Rohinton Baria will sweat it out, playing at various University grounds and International stadiums in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore among other cities. The participating teams for the 2013 Championship that have been selected from the 4 regional zones are – Jamia Milia Islamia, Aligarh Muslim University, Awadhesh Pratap Singh University, Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Mumbai University, Jiwaji University, University of Madras and Jain University. The teams for this Championship have been selected through the Rohinton Baria Tournament, which involves participation from more than two hundred Universities and twenty lakh students across the country. Some matches will also be followed by a carnival with musical performances, great food and engaging on-ground contests.

Speaking at the launch Dr SN Puri, President of the Association of Indian Universities said, “The Rohinton Baria tournament was losing its shine. This new format of less overs is becoming popular so young people should come forward from their college days. To attract the young we thought we should look at this new format and you came forward. I am sure that with the strong support of the Ministry of HRD and the BCCI it will do well.”

Dido Returns With New Album

‘Girl Who Got Away’, out March 4th on RCA

New single ‘No Freedom’, out Feb 24th

One of the UK’s biggest selling female artists ever returns with her strongest album yet.

Dido’s eagerly anticipated fourth album ‘Girl Who Got Away’, is out March 4th on RCA, with new single ‘No Freedom’ out Feb 24th. You’re about to fall in love with her all over again.

Reunited once more with brother Rollo Armstrong – who has produced the majority of the album – Dido also collaborated with Brian Eno, Jeff Bhasker, Rick Nowels and Greg Kurstin to create an 11-track album of the very finest self-penned, soul-baring electro-pop.

Having already dropped killer track ‘Let Us Move On’ – featuring a pin-sharp guest spot from the hottest rapper du jour, Kendrick Lamar – Dido unleashes her stunning new single ‘No Freedom’, February 24th.

At the core of ‘Girl Who Got Away’ is a bold statement of intent. From the euphoric rush of ‘Go Dreaming’, through the barbed wit of

‘End of Night’, and the loved-up folk of ‘Sitting On The Roof Of The World’ – where Dido sparkles like the night sky – ‘Blackbird’ is deliciously withering and the album’s title? “It’s one of my favourite songs on the record,” she says. “But I guess it also sums up the last few years for me. Taking a step back from it all and going off to have the whole happy adventure of starting a family and making an album that I really am so proud of. And now I just can’t wait for people to hear it.”

She continues; “It was an incredibly fun record to make. There was no pressure on me at all. It’s all been so natural and easy. On every other record I’ve made, there have been really tricky days, but there weren’t any like that on this one.”

Dido’s first two albums ‘No Angel’ and ‘Life For Rent’ remain two of the UK’s biggest sellers of all-time and the critically acclaimed third LP

‘Safe Trip Home’ kept the momentum going as album sales hit the 29 million mark. Now she’s back with a new LP

Warm, evocative and bursting with the emotion of life’s little details, ‘Girl Who Got Away’ is classic Dido; at once modern and timeless.

It’s the comeback record of the year.

“I love Amchi Mumbai, The City That Never Sleeps” ,says Nataliya Kozhenova

Mumbai is New York of India and the city of dreams. It depicts the place that is always up and about, a city with a spirit of gold and a determination to never say die. Night owls have ranked the city that never sleeps unique and most favoured when it comes to night life. The Ukrainian actress Nataliya Kozhenova has fall in love with Mumbai Night Life. She is representing the “never say die” spirit, with the people of Mumbai with full of life and vigour. The hot actress will sizzle in her Upcoming movie “The City That Never Sleeps” which is base on the real fact of night life. The movie will mark in Guinness Book of world record which is produced by Satish Reddy and Directed by Haroon Rashid.

Nataliya Kozhenova said, “Mumbai can best be described as a good masala, an eclectic mixture of bygone era, full of fun and energy. The most important is Bollywood Glitteratti that adds sparkle to this already magical city and I love “Amchi Mumbai.”

The speed of Mumbai is unakin to that in the rest of the country. The pace of life is quicker in the metropolis. Far from the ‘madding crowd’ of this metropolis of millions that never sleeps, and yet in the very heart of this urban giant.

Thriller in Offing as Uttar Pradesh Wizards Start Hero HIL Campaign with Opener against Jaypee Punjab Warriors

Jalandhar, 16 January 2013: In what promises to be a thriller, Uttar Pradesh Wizards would begin their Hero Hockey India League campaign in an away game against Jaypee Punjab Warriors here on Thursday.

In this five-team home and away format, Uttar Pradesh Wizards, owned by Sahara Adventure Sports Limited, is the only team that has not been part of the action in the first three days. Hence, Uttar Pradesh Wizards would be fresh and raring to go and make a good start in their bid to become the best team in the country.

While Wizards would be playing their first match of the tournament, Warriors would be playing their second game in as many days, and third in four days. Wizards would try to exploit any tiredness that the Warriors might show.

At the same time, Warriors would have played a couple of games before Thursday’s game, and would have started to settle down as a team. In this format, where players from different countries and States of India play together in a team, settling down as a unit takes a bit of time. Complimenting each other also needs playing some games together, and that’s where Warriors have an advantage over Wizards.

With skipper VR Raghunath at the helm, they are high on confidence “It’s a great feeling to captain Uttar Pradesh Wizards. As the captain it is my responsibility to lead from the front and support my team. We will be putting our best foot forward while taking on Punjab, which is a well-settled team by now since it’s their third and our very first game” Raghunath said ahead of the team’s opener. With the likes of Teun de Nooijer, Eddie Ockenden, David Alegre on his side, Raghunath believes in his team’s chances of delivering the goods. “Having some of the best players of the world, the entire team is very excited and we are ready to give some wonderful performances in the tournament,” he added.

Apart from Raghunath, Tushar Khandekar is one player that Warriors would be wary of. A quality forward, Khandekar has impressed many on the domestic as well as international circuit so far, and Wizards would expect some goals from their ace forward in the Hero Hockey India League.

The coaching staff also has some star cast, with Roelant Oltmans as coach, Leendert Johannes Jacobus Streeder as assistant coach and former Indian captain Dhanraj Pillay as Technical Director.

For Warriors, it would be their second home game in a row, and they would enjoy the support of home fans. The support can really lift the spirits in such format, and can make a difference in tight games. It would also be interesting to see how the team recovers in just a little over 24 hours after their game on Wednesday to take on a fresh Wizards side.

The Hero Hockey India League is organised by Hockey India with official sanction from the International Hockey Federation (FIH).

Teen Sensation Soumita Saha releases Emptiness III- Tere Bina

Teen Singer Soumita Saha recently released her new Music Video “Tere Bina, the latest track in her Emptiness Series of Albums. Inspired by the famous Song,’Maine Mere Jaana’ by Kausiki Diwakar, Emptiness III portrays the gloomy picture of Heart when the Love vanishes from Someone’s Life.

Speaking about the Song, Soumita says, “My version of Emptiness is not about pleading the lost love to come back. It’s about the emptiness and the loneliness caused when the love is lost from life”.

The opening lyrics, “labz thi meri, dhun tha tera, adhuri si hai geet tere bina”, actually echoes the Emptiness felt in heart due to the sudden loss of Love, hence the Title. Tere Bina actually adds to the hunch of Love echoed by ‘Maine Mere Jaana’, first sung by Kausi Divakar.

A Re-Mix version of Tere Bina has been released by Music Stars, a studio from Los Angeles US. The Remix is composed by Ravi Soni.

Speaking about inspiration behind this Song, Soumita says, “When I was working on one of my Paintings, the emptiness was on my mind and somehow that painting gave me the idea”.

World’s best footballer Andres Iniesta very down to earth

If your luck runs high and you work dedicatedly towards your goal then there is no stopping you. It is not just luck but also his dedication that has taken PRO Harish Sharma to new heights. Last year in December, Sharma released his directorial debut film “2 Nights in Soul Valley” and at the start of this year Sharma flew to Spain for a Calendar Photo shoot and video with world’s best Football player Andres Iniesta. This is when Luck strikes gold!

When Rajbir Singh, MD of Aska Beverages saw a few scenes of Sharma’s film he asked Sharma to direct the calendar shoot which was scheduled for 9th January with Model-actress Claudia Ciesla and Andres Iniesta. After returning from Spain Sharma spelt his experience of shooting with Iniesta, “The man is simply down to earth! For an international player’s stature you would expect that he will have bodyguards and bouncers for security but it wasn’t like that. He was alone when he came to greet us.” Sharma further adds, “Initially we were given a particular time span for the shoot but it so happened that the shoot had to be extended beyond that time span. But still Iniesta showed no star tantrums that you usually expect in such cases. Instead he told us if we needed more of his time he’d be willing to wait back and shoot!”

Talking about her experience of shooting with Iniesta, Claudia said, “It was an opportunity of lifetime for me, working with Andres and meeting him was fun!”

During the shoot Sharma invited Iniesta to India but owing to his busy schedule he declined the invitation. However, after Sharma and his team touched India, the very next day Rajbir received a mail from Iniesta’s management confirming the acceptance of invitation on part of Iniesta. Iniesta’s visit to India will be a boost to Indian Football lovers and football players. Sources confirm that Iniesta will be here only for two days yet is keen to see Taj Mahal, Delhi and may be football city Kolkata. Iniesta is likely to fly to India this June. “I hope I will manage to fulfill his wishes,” said Rajbir.

“I don’t think Audience wants to see a ‘Skinny’ Girl”: Pooja Misrra

After a long time we caught up with the ‘Spare Me’ girl Pooja Misrra at the recent Color’s Screen Awards 2013 where Ms Misrra was dressed up in her black and nude Lace-Outfit and looked much fuller than in her modelling days. But the actress doesn’t seemed to be worried about it. According to Pooja, Models or Actresses with Zero Figure is not the ‘In’ thing with Aam Janta.

“Models are skinny and i don’t think our Indian Audience can relate to ‘Zero Figures’ and Skinny Babes. I have noticed that in the Indian Film industry you have to have a little weight on you, Also more importantly, My producer told me to put on some weight for my upcoming film ‘Hum Baaja Bajaa Dengey’ in which i do a spicy Item Number which is releasing in March.” Said the outspoken Pooja Misrra.

Apart from Hum Baaja Bajaa Dengey, Pooja is also doing the most ‘In-News’ film ‘The City That Never Sleeps’, For which she is set to to break the Guiness Book of World Records. The makers are also planning to take the film in Cannes Film Festival once it get’s completed informed Pooja.
