Sanjiv Jaiswal’s movie Shudra-The Rising Getting Way Too Popular

on first look in Nagpur in presence of almost 50,000 people crowd

The star cast along with the Sanjiv Jaiswal, Writer Director of the hard hitting bold film SHUDRA-THE RISING turned up to Nagpur Buddha Fest especially to showcase the movie to the audience present there.

The Festival had almost 50,000 people crowd. The overwhelming response for the first look of film ” Shudra-The rising”. The trailor of the film was soul stirring and the response from the crowd was very encouraging.

The star cast and also the Music Director-Jaan Nissar Love performed there. As the Main theme of the movie is based on the revolution brought by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar so the ambience was perfect for the first look .

The lead actors of the movie Gauri Shankar, Shahji Chaudhary, Ganesh Pandit. They showered good compliments for the movie to the director. performance was so much touching that it bought tears in the eyes of the audience and delegates.

Says Prashant Sharma, “handling film’s Worldwide Release, distribution & Marketing – We are gearing for a worldwide release in 3 languages, & with electrifying performances, cinematography, dialogues, soul stirring meaningful music and a very strong plot, I can promise a sincere, meaningful, bold and clean piece of work in this nonsensical era of commercialization”.

Says Sanjiv Jaiswal, Writer Director of the hard hitting bold film SHUDRA-THE RISING. Jaiswal further elaborates, Freedom of man & mankind is always bigger than freedom of a country. No doubt Mahatma Gandhi played the most integral role in India’s freedom struggle, but it was Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar who wrote the Constitution of India that runs the Independent India. Babasaheb’s forevision, which was always ahead of its time ensured that we had a constitution that will run this nation even centuries down the line. On the other side, almost all leading politicians then failed to see even the extent of aftermath of division of the country & put millions of innocent people to get slaughtered. Hundreds of years ahead of his time, Babasaheb had written a constitution that has managed to keep the country united & progressive centuries down.

Unlike almost any other politician in the country, Baba Saheb was absolutely non-controversial & unblemished throughout his political career. He struck a chord equally with all sections of the society, with his followers from every single religion, caste & state in the country.

Jaiswal says– A few people, by wearing Gandhian caps today are trying to emulate Mahatma but not a single one is willing to stand up & fight for the basic issues that Babasaheb fought equality, fundamental rights & justice for all. We don’t need pseudo people wearing Gandhian caps but socialists like Babasaheb, a bhagirath who can bring the change by changing the thinking of the masses. For basic problems like corruption, terrorism etc, no lokpal or law can bring about a change, only a change in our ideologies can, which Babasaheb worked towards. India’s a land of Rishis & observing fasts is a way of life for us. To sit on a fast is the easiest way to get attention, but to fight for the rights of millions of empty stomach is the real challenge which no one stands for today.

Jaiswal Further Added- it all began a couple of years back when I was watching a film on Babasaheb on this very day, Ambedkar Jayanti, that an old man came forward & shared with me the extreme levels of atrocities a particular section of the society has been exposed to for centuries. Old man further shared how people of a particular section of the society were made to live like animals, with a look that is frightening even to imagine. They were made to wear a broom like a long tail, so that their footprints would be swept away while they walked, hang a pot around the neck so that they don’t make the earth unholy by even accidently spitting on the ground, wear bells so that no one crosses their path & so on. When imagined, the whole visual was hair raising & never heard, seen or imagined before in the history.

Jaiswal began an extensive research work on the project, & with two years of extensive hardwork, for the first time on silver screen, a mega Tri-lingual project called SHUDRA-THE RISING has come into existence. With never heard, seen or even hard to imagine visuals, SHUDRA-THE RISING will probably remain my most bold & daring attempt at Hindi Cinema.

When asked why such a film in this era of commercialization, Jaiswal says – Cinema must not be like a drug that gives you a momentary kick & then fades away. If used well, it could be a powerful tool for bringing a revolution. I hv an inspiration from some of the greatest works of the likes of Achhut Kanya, Bandini, Neecha Nagar, Saransh, Ardhsatya, Bandit Queen etc & my film covers all aspects of a society divided by colour, caste & creed, rampant with corruption & atrocity.

The film is being acclaimed worldwide at a lot of leading International film festivals. Legendary film maker Govind Nihalani, who happened to catch up with the film at Int’l Film Fest at Goa says – “Shudra – The Rising” is a powerful cinematic expose of the centuries of inhuman oppression and violence inflicted upon the ‘lower castes’ by the upper castes of the Indian society. The film makes a strong case for restoration of dignity to the lives of dalits in India today. Sanjiv Jaiswal has directed this film with sincerity, courage, and conviction.

Intel® and McAfee Developed “Joint Implementation” to Demonstrate Situational Awareness and Multi-zone Protection for Energy Infrastructure

India, May 15, 2012 –Intel and McAfee announced a partnership to better protect the world’s energy utility ecosystem, including generation, transmission and distribution, from increased cyber attacks. McAfee and Intel have provided a blueprint for a comprehensive solution of multiple products that create layers of security and operate together without great complexity or without impacting availability. McAfee and Intel solutions deliver a variety of technologies for securing the energy environments, decreasing chances of malicious attacks, increasing uptime and decreasing resource intensive responses to fix and update systems. As a jointly created “reference implementation” that mirrors real-world energy environments customers can see the technology implemented fully and integrated across endpoint, network and cloud. The solution is focused on satisfying the energy industries need for situational awareness, seamless multi-zone protection, native supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) support, and remote device management.

Challenges Facing Energy Infrastructure

The complexity and diversity of the electrical power delivery systems make protecting them from cyber attacks very difficult. Energy provider’s infrastructure is comprised of a diverse set of networks that cannot be effectively secured by simply adding technologies designed for typical enterprise IT environments. Many of the power grids aging assets predate the internet revolution and are particularly vulnerable from attack and unable to identify or report malicious activity up the network chain. Substations, known as one of the most vulnerable parts of the smart grid, are particularly at risk from attack. Meanwhile, hackers have grown more sophisticated, increasing the need to defuse or deter zero-day and more sophisticated attacks.

Securing electric power delivery is an enormous task because of:

· Multiple zones include: Corporate IT, SCADA, and device networks: Each different zone has unique technical challenges.

· Coping with “big data” overload: Security devices on the network produce incredibly large number of logs, overwhelming stretched IT departments.

· Simplifying endpoint manageability and improving visibility: Energy endpoints are spread geographically and rarely updated and many times lack the ability to detect or communicate and identify a security breach. Device failures can be costly especially when they require updates if not properly managed.

· Providing the right security context for the grid: Standard IT products don’t have the right features to identify issues within the energy infrastructure or don’t understand the unique utility lexicon making it difficult to apply specialized measures need for control systems.

“To adequately secure critical systems against cyber attacks, the right products and technologies must be integrated into the entire infrastructure—from the enterprise, to the SCADA and control systems, and even to the automated device networks—without impacting reliability or interfering with operations.” Eric Knapp, critical infrastructure expert at McAfee. “Together, Intel and McAfee have combined commercially-available chipset capabilities and cyber security products into the perfect recipe for substation security, providing advanced protection while removing operational complexity, and improving reliability through remote manageability.”

Solution Requirements for Energy Infrastructure

With the increasing number on attacks to critical infrastructure, energy providers need protection against zero-day and known attacks in a manageable way. McAfee and Intel address this with a select group of solutions and technologies needed in critical infrastructures.

· Situational Awareness – To stop zero-day attacks there needs to be actionable intelligence and not just the creation of more security logs. This is the role of the McAfee Enterprise Security Manager that gives a contextual view that helps identify and isolate attacks produced by unknown malware.

· Unified, Multi-zone Protection – Energy IT organizations need to centrally manage assets and substation network operation centers to better understand their environments. McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator and McAfee Enterprise Security Manager unify security and policy management of the endpoint, network, and data security controls that have been deployed across all zones.

· Malware Protection. Application white-listing is particularly effective against zero day attacks and is much more resource “light” than blacklisting solutions. McAfee Embedded Control combines whitelisting technology with change control to monitor, enforce policies and provide absolute protection against malicious activity at the endpoint.

· Intrusion Prevention – McAfee IPS actively detects, analyzes and protects from an array of attacks and neutralizes them real-time.

· Database Protection – McAfee Database Activity Monitoring automatically finds databases on the network and protects them with a set of preconfigured defenses and policies customized for the energy sector.

· Remote Remediation – Intel Advanced Management Technology (AMT) on 2nd generation Intel Core processors has been enhanced with a feature called KVM redirection over Internet Protocol (IP), permitting the keyboard-video-mouse (KVM) for an IT console to control and display the graphical user interface (GUI) of an embedded device in the field. As a result, technicians can manage the remote device as if they were sitting right in front of it using normal input devices. To resolve issues, it’s possible to reboot the device, observe errors, launch tools for analyzing failure data and guide the system to fix the error. Lowering the cost of servicing endpoints especially remote sites is more important. McAfee Deep Command allows administrators to remotely deploy, manage, and update security even on disabled or powered off devices.

· Monitoring Critical Software – Using Intel AMT deployed through McAfee ePO Deep Command, security administrators can remotely deploy, manage and update security and device software on disabled or powered-off endpoints through an out-of-band (OOB) connection to the endpoint. This allows utility IT departments to take control of the devices regardless of the hardware or software state – even a rogue device. Using Intel AMT, the device can be taken offline and replaced by a redundant, failover device, thus minimizing downtime.

· Continuous Compliance – The solutions provide continuous compliance in a fast, automated and easy-to-use interface that addresses audit requirements in minutes instead of hours or days.

Joint Reference Implementation

Intel and McAfee created a “reference implementation” that integrates a number of McAfee security solutions relevant to substations and network operations centers with selected Intel hardware. The reference implementation emulates the components and functionality commonly found in a critical infrastructure environment. The added capability of end-point security, network security and security management solutions delivers a secure environment and increased reliability. The demonstration of the “reference implementation” allows the audience to witness the system response to an unsuccessful cyber-attack thwarted by McAfee Embedded Control and the impact to valuable assets of a successful attack on an “improperly configured” system. The demonstration shows the audience how the critical infrastructure operator, having complete situational awareness delivered with the McAfee SIEM solution, can remotely and securely mitigate the threat of the comprised “improperly configured” system with McAfee’s ePolicy Orchestrator coupled with Intel’s vPro technology.

Protecting utility infrastructure is challenging for many reasons including network diversity, data overload, complex endpoint management and tools that lack the right security context for energy. McAfee unifies situational awareness and multi-zone protection using purpose built, compliance-oriented solutions to prevent attacks in real-time. This end-to-end security solution features remote management using Intel AMT to lower device support costs.

“Who is Adit?” wonders Viveka Babajee’s family!

On the day of supermodel Viveka Babajee’s death (June 25, 2010), in a message sent to her on Facebook, her boyfriend Gautam Vora had mentioned, “Adit and myself have been trying to call u to see if you are ok, please acknowledge, even if with a simple “yes” as a reply to this. Your phone is off. We are worried. Please get in touch asap.” (sic)

Viveka Babajee’s family spokesperson Dale Bhagwagar admitted that the family has been wondering who ‘Adit’ is. “Since the name appears in the message sent by Gautam Vora to Viveka’s Facebook account exactly on the date of her demise, her family is keen that the Police investigate the matter and see if this person (Adit) was also present at Viveka’s residence that fateful night and whether he needs to undergo DNA tests too,” stated Bhagwagar.

Earlier, DNA tests were conducted on Gautam Vora and Viveka’s ex-business partner Kartik Jobanputra after reports from the forensic department stated that human DNA was found under the fingernails of the supermodel whose body was discovered under mysterious circumstances; hanging from a ceiling fan in her house.

In his statement to the Police and Court, Viveka’s boyfriend Gautam Vora, who was said to be the last person to have visited her, the night before the incident, had denied a relationship with the supermodel, claiming she was ‘just a friend’.

The Babajee’s family had alleged that Vora had lied about his relationship with Viveka to the Police as well as the Court, and through their spokesperson Dale Bhagwagar, released seven photographs of Gautam with Viveka, which proved beyond doubt that the couple were in a serious relationship.

Will Aamir Khan tackle child sexual abuse on Satyamev Jayate next?

After kick-starting his TV debut Satyamev Jayate on Star Plus, raising insightful issues of female foeticide in the premier episode, megastar Aamir Khan is said to be slowly but steadily moving towards tackling more such sensitive issues.

His next topic is reported to be on the issue of child sexual abuse. It is rumoured that the second episode of Satyamev Jayate will cover people who have survived sexual abuse in their childhood, as well as parents who are coping up with the knowledge about their kin having been subjected to similar crimes.

When asked about this, Bollywood PR guru Dale Bhagwagar remarked, “Sexual abuse during childhood is an extremely delicate matter. Public declarations by adult survivors could be shocking to the core.”

He added, “It could be a very complicated and tricky subject to deal with, but increased media coverage of child sexual abuse instances, including that of infants, could go a long way in containing the heinous crimes.”

Meanwhile, the first episode of Satyamev Jayete continued to receive a good response on the social media network.

“Aamir Khan’s show can bring a revolution. Thoroughly researched, covers all aspects, touches emotional chord and forces us to re-examine ourselves,” posted Shabana Azmi on Twitter. “Watching Aamir Khan on Satyamev Jayate discussing female foeticide. I love this effort from him and thank him as a woman!” posted Preity Zinta.

Mumbai, May 14, 2012… India’s No. 1 Radio Network and Broadcaster of the year at Golden Mikes, 92.7 BIG FM’s Mumbai Station joins hands with the Western Railways and NGO – Humanitarian Welfare & Research Foundation in its latest campaign ‘Safety Manao, Life Banao’. The campaign takes on the most pressing issue of a large part of Mumbai that uses the trains to commute – not restricting themselves to inside the train but also atop the train and endangering their lives as they cross the railway tracks to save a few minutes in the daily rush to reach their place of destination. The campaign is an extension of its larger campaign on ‘Mumbai Manao, Life Banao’ which celebrates Mumbai. The campaign will see RJ Ankit hosting the breakfast show from atop a bridge at one of Mumbai’s busiest railway stations – Dadar from 7am to 11am each morning, until he gets a minimum of 9270 volunteers to support the cause and spread the awareness.

Local trains are Mumbai’s lifeline and given the recent spurt in train accidents, 92.7 BIG FM has taken up the responsibility to drive awareness in a unique manner through this campaign. RJ Ankit will be in his mobile radio studio at a key junction at Dadar Railway Station. His show will involve – interviews with the authorities highlighting the challenges that they face, speaking to passengers on the reasons and thrill that they get out of endangering themselves, people who have survived accidents to share their story, those who have lost someone to an accident and so on. The show will also see a slew of celebrities visiting the mobile studio as a mark of support and encouragement to the campaign. Extending the campaign to social media, RJ Ankit will also get aerial pictures of people endangering their lives which will be posted on the social media network and which will work as an eye-opener for those who see them.

Listeners can participate in the initiative by sending in smses to 55454 showing their support and making a solemn promise to travel safely.

Mumbai’s local trains are undoubtedly the lifeline of this fast moving city which carries six million people every day to offices, shops and factories. Even after addition of more trains to the existing fleet over the years, the trains still have to carry in excess of 1.5 times their capacity during peak hours which causes frequent deaths and major accidents amounting to 4000 per year on an average.

The NGO Humanitarian Welfare & Research Foundation specializes in supporting tragedy stuck areas, assisting less fortunate people, conducting multiple awareness drives, providing medical aid to emergency areas and various other awareness campaigns.

Commenting on this campaign, 92.7 BIG FM said, “As a responsible media brand that reflects the city’s passions and emotions, we believe the use of our medium – radio – which boasts of being a live medium, local and highly engaging we found this cause most be-fitting. The campaign has been conceptualized to highlight the staggering number of accidents and dangers that commuters call on themselves. We are extremely thankful to the Western Railways and Humanitarian Welfare & Research Foundation for supporting this initiative. As a brand that celebrates Mumbai’s passions, this is our way to contribute to an issue so relevant to our audiences.”

Screenwriters are the foundation of any film, yet they seldom get noticed for their work. It’s even rarer for an Indian living overseas to get recognition as a screenwriter. Today we bring you an interview with Amanda Sodhi who recently won her first international Award for the ‘Best Screenplay’ for the internationally acclaimed, feature-film Life! Camera Action… at the 28th Goldie Film Awards 2012. Screenwriter, director, lyricist, vocalist, model, journalist, copywriter and PR/marketing/advertising professional, Amanda is a woman of many talents, as you will soon find out for yourself when you read through the transcript below.

You have been nominated twice earlier so how does it feel to win your first award?

It feels awesome since this is the first entertainment-industry related award I have won, that, too, for the first film I worked on. There is always something special about firsts.

How did you get to work on Life! Camera Action…?

Rohit’s friend sent out an email thread in 2009 mentioning Rohit is looking for short film scripts and I responded to the email. Before we knew the project went from a short to a feature length film. I had never imagined the film would travel to so many film festivals globally and win so many awards and nominations. Clearly the film has struck a chord with film festival judges, which is awesome.

How does the film resonate with you personally?

Well, I wrote the film so it definitely resonates with me in many ways…too many ways for me to really list out.

While working on Life! Camera Action… were you given any specific restrictions for the characters or the plot that you had to work within?

No, in fact Rohit gave me complete freedom to submit whatever script I wanted to, so I had no restrictions. Eventually, things did change a bit during the filming—there was a lot of improvisation in terms of the dialogues. The entire scripting process was very unusual and unique—we never had a bound script. We had a complete short film script I had submitted, and the project was tentatively titled The Last Shot. During the actual filming the film ended up becoming longer than expected so we went back and added scenes to expand upon the content as Rohit realized the film had feature length potential. And voila, Life! Camera Action… was born and The Last Shot was a portion within the film.

How do you feel about the success of Life! Camera Action…?

Like I said I never imagined the film would do so well and when I wrote it in 2009 I didn’t know it would turn into a feature length project. It definitely feels good when your work is affirmed by so many people. I never imagined Life! Camera Action… would have so many screenings outside of India but not a single one in India. Honestly, the success of the film feels very surreal, and I strongly feel I have a long way to go. I’m still in the struggle period of my career. Nonetheless, Life! Camera Action… and its success has been an excellent launch-pad for me as a writer. I hope the film continues to travel and reach people around the world, and inspire people to follow their dreams, and I also hope that each and every person associated with the film achieves the goals they have set for themselves.

Can you give some details about how your interest in film developed and in particular your interest in writing for film?

I have always been interested in films, and writing has been a form of release for me. I knew since I was a kid that this was the industry I wanted to be a part of…an industry where you take people out of their daily lives and have their undivided attention for a few hours and while taking them into a totally different world. I knew I wanted to be a part of the film and music industry ever since I was a child. I learned Hindi through films. In fact I even learned to read and write in Hindi because of my passion for films. I didn’t know when I was a kid that screenplays in Bollywood are also written in English, so I ended up learning to read and write in Hindi (laughs). Writing, filmmaking, music…it all fulfills me very much.

You wrote and directed two short movies recently–The Dance of Death and Through Bloodshot Eyes—how did these develop? How did you approach the process of making?

I had a few short film scripts I had written a few years back, including Through Bloodshot Eyes and The Dance of Death. I had been pitching them to other filmmakers, and it didn’t work out, so I began contemplating making the films on my own whenever I move to India. Well, I ended up moving to LA from Washington, DC last year the DP I worked with pointed out since the locations are indoors it didn’t make sense to wait to go to India to film. So, from there the journey began. Everything fell into place automatically and too fast for me to process. My friend actor Abhiroy Cheema introduced me to Darshan Kembhavi, who is also a talented filmmaker and editor, and he helped me out with part of the casting. I didn’t have much of a budget to work with since I was making the films on my own, so I feel very fortunate that everyone I sent the script to agreed to volunteer for both films because they believed in the scripts. I didn’t face much difficulty during the pre-production and production section although a few hiccups did happen during post-production. I feel very blessed to have worked with such a talented cast and crew. I’m currently fundraising for my next short film which I have co-written and will be co-directing with Amber Sandhu–the film is titled Stale Vows.

What’s your writing process like? Do you outline/write a treatment before starting? Do you have any particular writing process you follow when you begin to write a screenplay?

Oh yes, for feature length screenplays I like to develop an outline to guide me so I don’t get lost or overwhelmed during the writing process. When I work on a short film screenplay, though, I usually make sure I have the entire plot figured out in my mind and then subsequently write it down in one sitting without an outline.

The issue of “movies for women” often comes up at festivals. Do you feel that as a female writer, you can do a better job of telling a woman’s story?

No, I don’t think that only women can do a good job of telling a woman’s story. There are many male writers and directors in both the US and in India who have made wonderful films with strong female protagonists including LIFE! CAMERA ACTION… and Vishal Bhardwaj, the team of writers from Kahaani, Anurag Kashyap, etc, and when I recently saw a few short films at IFFLA in April I realized there are many short filmmakers who are men who have also made excellent films focusing on women.

Any advice to people starting off in this field before getting their feet wet?

Be logical about the strategy you use to break into the industry. Network with people, be persistent, and take on gigs regularly to build your portfolio and interact with others from the field. If you really want something badly and are intelligent in your approach, you will find a way to achieve it—it’s as simple as that.

Men in Black 3 of Sony Pictures is all set to release on May 25th, 2012 all over India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. However, the man behind the success of its prequels-Director Barry Sonnenfeld- has his own jittery moments. The Director is much excited about the movie and wants it to garner as much love as its prequels. The third movie in the series of Men in Black will return to entertain the audience after 10 years.

Barry had envisioned to give the audience the taste of old film with a pinch of innovation which is why he says it took ten years to bring this movie before the audience. The film will have familiar characters and premise of the Men in Black and who they are. It will bring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones back together. But will also have new and inventive element of Time travel.

The movie which will be in 3D will star Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin. Barry seemed zealous as he spoke about his new lead star, “Young Agent K is played by Josh Brolin, who gives a sly, smart performance as Young K that channels Jones’ mannerisms and characterizations while also making the character his own. The performances were so consistent that it was hard for me to tell where Tommy Lee Jones ended and Josh Brolin began and that made me think as if I was directing one actor.”

Barry laughs as he recalls how the idea for the third film was born. He says, “Well, it’s funny because when we were shooting Men in Black 2, Will came up with the idea for Men in Black 3. And Will said to me one night, “Wouldn’t it be really cool if for Men in Black 3, Tommy Lee Jones’ character, Agent K, disappears in the present and I have to go back to the past to save him, and in doing so discover things I never knew.” That’s what he said. And it sounded like a great idea.”

The Men in Black movies are not just sci-fi but have a rare touch of comedy to it. The key tone to it to make the movie really funny, says Sonnenfeld, is for everyone to play it entirely straight. “I want the situations to be funny, but the performances to be real, so I don’t want the actors trying to be funny. I don’t want the composer to think ‘comedy,’ because then the music will be comedy music. I don’t even want the cinematographer or the lab that develops the film to think it’s a comedy, because the next thing I know, it’ll look too bright. If I can surround the absurd situation with something real, it’ll be a great comedy.”

With the success of it prequels, the “play it straight” strategy of Barry, is sure a hit. But will this film also appeal to the audience? It will soon be decided once this Sony Pictures film releases on May 25th, 2012.
