Crafts, Arts and Textiles Came Together for a Stunning Collection by Krishna Mehta at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Mumbai, Sunday, August 5, 2012: Krishna Mehta’s stunning collection called “Encore” had large doses of expert craftsmanship, arts, and textiles at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 and was a breathtaking study of extreme visual celebration.

Specially hand woven fabrics, were cleverly textured with dyeing or Shibori and stitching details. At the same time, Krishna kept the silhouettes simple, lean and elegant and allowed them to dazzle with exquisite embellishments.

Shades of the softest feminine colours like peach, ecru and salmon with touches of purple, red, black and royal blue added to the beauty of the garments.

Fabrics that created magic on the ramp were Kota doria, Chanderi, georgette, tulle, velvet, lace, brocade and even cotton, which were all turned into splendid festive and bridal creations.

It was a collection that spelt opulence all the way, right from the first entry of the one-shoulder all over embroidered georgette dress with peach rosette tulle dupatta worn with fluid swirling palazzo pants. Tunics were lavished with pearls; dupattas shimmered with ombré touches and delicate glitter while the lehengas were given intricate embellishments.

The black velvet antique blouse, purple block printed long tunic with black crushed silk palazzo pants, the rosette embroidered lehenga and blouse, the red ombré block printed sari kimono with zardozi and lace cutwork, were stunners under the arc lights. For added drama, the Parsi lace and cutwork cover was sensational in its grandeur and beauty. Khada pajamas, ornate odhanas, cutwork jackets, silver jacket-blouse and the innovative sari skirts were unbelievable in their craftsmanship and finish.

With a collection so splendid, Krishna Mehta’s “Encore” at the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 season will take many curtain calls on the global fashion stage.

Anita Dongre Ended Day Three with a Gorgeous Blend of Traditional and Contemporary Fashion at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Mumbai, Sunday, August 5, 2012: It was glamour at its elegant best when Anita Dongre presented her collection called “Urban Goddess” to end the Indian Textile Day celebrations at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012. Blending the traditional with the contemporary, Anita’s fashion story was aimed at the jet setting Indian women.

Bringing together the gorgeous weaves of Benares and combining them with the intricacy of ikat from Andhra Pradesh and the beauty of raw and Mushru silk, the result was a colourful mélange of silhouettes. From elegant cigarette pants, classy jackets, to trendy dresses and flouncy blouses, the look was ideal for easy comfortable wear. Adding to the beauty of the garments were the colourful vegetable dyed block prints from Bhuj, which gave the collection a perfect timeless touch.

Opening the show with five sexy multi fabric silk knee length sheaths with strappy backs, Anita set the mood of the show. The colour story was a rich mélange of red, green, gold, beige, black, magenta, bronze and nude all glamorously woven with gold motifs or colourful prints for the predominantly western line of scooped hem dresses, floor length gowns, figure hugging skirts, soft unstructured jackets and hipster skinny trousers.

Anita’s main styling directions were the 1950’s look, with knee and calf length pencil skirts, dresses – some pleated and gathered shapes for long feminine gowns with contrast bodices. Quilting played an important role and appeared for the jackets, hemlines and bodices of the dresses and gowns. Interesting touches were given to the sleeves with flyaway layers of fabrics. Occasionally, origami folds appeared for the outfits which were predominantly sexy and strappy. Sheer georgette blouses with slit long billowy or dolman sleeves were luxuriously embroidered in silver, gold, zari and sequins. At other times the multicoloured resham embellishments covered lean skirts.

Mention has to be made of the very opulent jewellery studded with pearls, diamonds and precious stones, the very classy black stilettos and the elegant embroidered sling bags.

Men’s wear was restricted to grey ombré or maroon jackets, double breasted bundgala and single breasted Jodhpuri coats.

Ending the show was Preeti Desai, Miss Great Britain 2006 and star of the Bollywood film “Shor in the City” in a regal white and gold gotta embroidered bridal lehenga, choli, dupatta and wearing the most exquisite heavy pearl jewellery.

For women who desire a mix of Indian weaves and prints with western sartorial elegance, Anita Dongre’s collection for Winter/Festive 2012 will turn the wearer into an “Urban Goddess” with all the right options.

Rajesh Khanna’s ‘love’ is feeling intimidated!

Anita Advani, who reportedly had a long-standing live-in relationship with the late megastar Rajesh Khanna at his Bandra bungalow Aashirwad, is feeling intimidated.

Surrounded by various controversies, Advani has been constantly under media glare since the megastar’s demise. Apart from not being allowed to board a vehicle during the mourning procession of Rajesh Khanna, the lady is alleged to have demanded a share in Aashirwad.

There have also been reports of an altercation with Rajesh Khanna’s estranged wife Dimple Kapadia and son-in-law Akshay Kumar.

“Ms Advani has been feeling hounded by the media with lots of television channels having camped outside her current residence for more than a week. She has also been receiving hundreds of calls and messages from the press on her cell phone, asking her to clarify various unfounded allegations,” informed her official spokesperson Dale Bhagwagar.

“She has been gheraoed while entering and leaving her residence. Some TV channel crews even scaled her building and have continuously been ringing her doorbell, waiting on the staircase and trying to grab some footage and bytes,” he added.

“Being a media person myself, I thoroughly understand that they (the channels) are just doing their job, but Ms Advani is neither used to all this, nor is she in a state of mind to answer awkward queries. She has just lost the person she loved like crazy for years at end and is feeling intimidated by all this,” explained Bhagwagar while leaving out answering, whether Anita Advani has claimed her stake to Aashirwad.

Thank You Mom”, Says Saina Nehwal after Winning the Medal

Mumbai, August 6th, 2012– “It seems like a dream come true,” was Saina Nehwal’s first response as she cruised her way through, winning her first Olympic medal. India’s ace shuttler Saina had to overcome a lot of odds to secure her seat in the London 2012 Olympic Games. The 22 year old confirms that her win was not an easy one and lot of hard work, grit and determination had gone behind it. But above everything else, Saina Nehwal attributes her success to her mom –Usha Nehwal who has been her inspiration since the start. Her foray into the world of badminton was influenced by her parents who are former badminton champions of Haryana.

The historic victory for the “Superb Saina” was nothing short of a larger-than-life moment. With the entire nation praying for Saina’s win, here’s what she had to say, “I must admit I was tense; it was a close win. I only thought about my mom and the hardships that she has endured for me, and I knew I couldn’t let her down. We all know that what we are today, and all that we have achieved –is what we owe to our mothers. And they all deserve to be thanked. I really appreciate P&G’s initiative to recognise the silent sacrifices that our moms make in raising their children, and therefore providing a rare opportunity to everyone to thank their moms; with a deed, an action and a gesture that we seldom undertake. I take this opportunity to say – “thank you” to my mom for all the little and big things that she has done for me.

Usha Nehwal, Saina’s mom could not control her tears of joy and said, “I am elated that Saina has won a medal at London 2012; this has been her dream ever since she became a part of this sport. Winning a medal at the Olympic Games is any sportsperson’s biggest dream, and I am glad Saina did it! Today she has made her family and the entire country proud! I am also grateful to P&G for facilitating moms and for acknowledging the sacrifices that they make for their children.”

“It’s an over the moon feeling. I am speechless,” Saina said. “I am happy that my racquet has done the talking for me,” added the extremely talented and powerful hitter of the shuttlecock.

Achieving the unprecedented feat, Saina made sure to thank her mother, who has been a rock-solid support to her as an athlete. “My mom has always been my greatest support. My parents were both badminton players and have always inspired me to give my best in whatever I do. They have been my biggest critics as well my biggest supporter, and today, I dedicate my win to them!”

Speaking on the occasion of Saina’s triumphant win, P&G spokesperson said, “I am so happy for Saina and wish her luck in the future. At P&G we know that preparing for the Olympic Games starts at a very early stage; and during each one of these athletes’ journey to London 2012, there was one person cheering for them louder than anyone else…it was their moms! P&G is in the business of helping moms – not just moms of our Olympians -but moms all around the world. So we’re using our voice at the Olympic Games to thank moms everywhere. We are privileged to have sponsored Saina Nehwal in her journey to winning a medal.

CADBURY DAIRY MILK SHOTSLAUNCHES NEW TVC FEATURING

ANURAG KASHYAP

New ‘Shots with Friends’ shareable pack

New Delhi, August 6, 2012:Cadbury Dairy Milk Shots is launching a new TVC to introduce the Rs 10 pack called ‘Shots with Friends’. Featuring filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, the TVC beautifully captures the spirit of friendship by showing a group of friends bonding and celebrating with Cadbury Dairy Milk Shots. The Bollywood connection and the audition theme lend a unique and fresh flavor to the TVC making it easily identifiable and enjoyable, especially for the youth.

The TVC hit screens across the nation on August 1, 2012 and ispresent across 60 television channels.

Speaking on the launch of the new TVC Chandramouli Venkatesan, Director, Snacking & Strategy, Cadbury India, comments “The bite size format of Cadbury Dairy Milk Shots allows it to be an easy alternative to ‘snacking’. The new TVC captures the essence of the product aptly- sharing among groups of friends, and further builds on the brand’s core message of celebrating small but significant occasions with Shots.”

Abhijit Avasthi, National Creative Director, Ogilvy India adds, “The Shots proposition of ‘mann mein ladoo phoota’ has been a resounding hit with the youngsters. To talk about the ‘Shots with Friends’ pack we decided to build on the same with the slant being on a group of friends wishing for something fantastic instead of an individual. Also, we thought it would be sweet and charming to tell the story with a group of girls instead of making it male-centric. It’s turned out much funnier than we had imagined and Anuraag Kashyap’s cameo is the icing on the cake.”

The opening of the TVC shows Anurag Kashyap struggling to find the perfect actresses to cast in his upcoming film. As he sits in a café describing his dream cast on the phone, he realizes they are much closer than he expected. The young group of girls on the neighboring table is ecstatic, to say the least, when they hear the director describe someone that looks exactly like them. The ‘chocolate ladoos’ that are a part of each character’s thought bubble act as the ‘sweet’ metaphor that symbolize and connect the range of positive emotions they experience. The closing VO summarizes the mood of the TVC, “Dosto ke saath kuch meetha ho jaye”

Nitya Arora, Rohan Arora, Tanya Sharma, Kaabia And Sasha Grewal Presented Superb Accessories, Footwear and Apparel at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Edgy Beautiful Jewellery Emerged from the Studios of Kaabia and Sasha Grewal at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Mumbai, Monday, August 6, 2012: The look was impressive, edgy and very strong for the dramatic jewellery called “Leone d’oro” presented by Kaabia and Sasha Grewal at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012. Inspired by the Golden Lion, the collection had a marked African touch as the king of the jungle’s face appeared on imposing pendants.

Chic and elegant, the inspirations further moved for the dazzling ornaments from Art Deco architecture to lion sculptures, leopard prints and geometrics. It was Luxe styling at its ultimate best, as the designing duo played with body ornaments with different types of leather.

Spiked necklace with large rear pendants and cascading chains, lapel necklace and cuffs, tasselled pendants and necklace with the Peter Pan collar shape had coloured stones. Fringes on flat collars took to centre stage to give that very rustic touch. Totally mesmerising were the collar cum belts with a long metal placket connecting them and the modern version of the “haat phool” for the hands.

For a dramatic fashion statement the “Leone d’oro” jewellery by Kaabia and Sasha Grewal will definitely cause a sensation around the world.

Nitya Arora’s Nouveau Gypsy Line was a Glittering Jewellery Offering at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Creating a dazzling array of jewellery which will appeal to the modern women, Nitya Arora’s “Nouveau Gypsy” collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 was a striking offering.

The gold glittered under the ramp lights and the gems sparkled on the beautiful cuffs, necklaces and earrings. The enamel work moved into geometrics to create a stunning collection that women will identify with instantly.

Beautiful chokers with mesh pendants and chains, tasselled necklaces, armlets and long multi spiked necklaces were eye catching. Using a bed of different colours of resham and tassels for the metal, precious stones, chains and neck pieces, Nitya revealed a very imaginative streak in her design sensibilities. To add more drama to the collection and recreate the theme, Nitya showed some interesting gold bullet belts, peacock inspired tassel centres for neck pieces and even head bands with stunning large centre flowers.

For jewellery that tells a glittering story of the past and present, Nitya Arora’s “Nouveau Gypsy” line was a timeless offering.

Rohan Arora Presented his Bollywood Inspired Footwear Collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Dedicated to the item girl and boy of Bollywood, Rohan Arora’s collection called “Item” at Lakmé Fashion week Winter/Festive 2012 had all the glitz and glamour of the inspiration. With strong colours and designs, the very dazzling footwear was crafted from a variety of eye catching materials like brocade, satin, sheep skin, pure silk and hand woven khadi.

For women, there were wedges with ghungroos and floral embroidery on the uppers as well as multi coloured fabrics to create the mood of the Item girl. Cute embroidered slip-ons also appeared in bright hues and looked very festive as they were edged with beads or bells to create innovative fun footwear.

For men there were comfortable no nonsense styles for moccasins and lace ups with black embroidery on the bright leather which ranged from mauve, blue, beige to mid brown and maroon.

Adding on clever touches of intricate traditional embroidery, Rohan Arora’s shoes were a riot of colour ideal for brides and grooms, as well as casual easy comfort.

Tanya Sharma’s Classic Collection was a Stylish Offering at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Bringing in a wonderful fusion story for her collection, Tanya Sharma offered a unique look at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012.

With the achkan and tuxedo as inspirations, the designer combined them with men’s street wear and traditional ethnic garments and created a different look for women’s wear. The result was the unique tuxedo sari, the achkan kaftan created from Indian fabrics like silk ikat, net, georgette and classic men’s fabrics all topped with delicate embroidery like chikankari, Kasab and sequin work.

The colours were truly Indian as mustard, regal blue, stunning peach and fluorescents like pink completed the shade card.

Using net as the constant in the garments, Tanya had a black net maxi skirt, which ended with orange and blue broad borders. Beautiful ikat appeared for a scooped hem bolero or a two tone ikat net shrug. Mixing colours and fabrics liberally, there were tiny black capes over georgette kurtas with embroidery. Lehengas in net had multi coloured panels; while the tuxedo’s tails appeared in the front of the garment, with a bright yellow orange trail at the back. Quite quirky were the black jumpsuit with net insets on legs and the grey coat with a long net hem. Finally, it was the sari with multi fabrics, colours and petal blouse that firmly completed the look, which Tanya wanted to, convey to the applauding audience.

Here was a collection that will create magic at any occasion with its unconventional styling by Tanya Sharma.

9 Year leap in Parichay brings a Two-rrific twist from August 6th

~Identical twins to play Reel life Twins on the show~

Mumbai, August 4, 2012: COLORS show Parichay – Nayee Zindagi Kay Sapno Ka, produced by television maverick Ekta Kapoor is all set to take Two- rrific twist with a 9 years leap. The unusual love story of a fallen hero Kunal and his support Siddhi now gradually moves from courtroom drama into journey of their 9 year old twins who are separated at birth. This dual addition to the Parichay parivaar will up the dramatic quotient as they play a pivotal role in bringing their estranged parents together. After a nationwide hunt, Identical twins Anmol and Apurva Jyotir were chosen to portray this unique sibling relationship and will be portraying the role of Anand by a mere coincidence or a twist of fate. The twins are worlds apart in terms of their personality…while Siddhi’s Anand lives a pampered life, is a wise crack and prankster, Kunal’s Anand is confident, disciplined at this tender age. This difference in personality will not only make the two-terrific twins more relatable and adorable but also more entertaining with a fresh wave of energy and liveliness. Meeting each other by chance and realising that they are related by blood (and name!), the naughty duo will decide to take matters into their own hands and bring their parents together. The new chapter in Kunal and Siddhi’s life begins next week from August 6th every Monday- Friday, at 9.30 pm only on COLORS.

Prashaant Bhatt, Weekday Programming Head, COLORS said “The time is ripe to offer viewers a peek into the life and times of what the future has in store for Siddhi and Kunal, characters much loved by our viewers. The onset of a 9 year leap takes Kunal and Siddhi’s bittersweet relationship from a couple to struggling parenthood. With the entry of the twins, the plot now assures double the masti, double the energy with the siblings discovering about each other, about their polar personalities and how they lay the trap for their parents to bring them together.”

Talking on the introduction of twins, Ekta Kapoor added, “Through the highpoints and drama that was built up, Parichay a simple story of life’s second chances became a household name. ‘Take two’ for this turbulent story of Kunal and Siddhi will start next week with the twins acting as game changers in the story. Having found Apurva and Anmol though a nationwide hunt, I believe that they will be able to do justice to the role of Anand Chopra with aplomb bringing in their own personality, and charm to this role.”

For the very first time, 9 yr old real life twins Anmol and Apurva Jyotir will make their TV debut with a most challenging role handed over to them by Ekta Kapoor. Being TV addicts and having a natural flair for drama, both of them are truly inspired by Darsheel Safary. Apurva says, “This is my first big break and what makes it even more special is that my brother is part of it too. Either we both get it or we both miss out and I’m just glad that we both bagged it”. Anmol adds “What challenges us is that we are rather different as compared to the character Anand. Moulding ourselves into that role will be challenging and we are thankful to Ekta Ma’am and COLORS for this big opportunity and we will try and make her proud.”

While in jail, Siddhi (Keerti Nagpure) delivers twins – one of which due to Richa’s (played by Sonia Singh) scheming ways ends up with Kunal and the other with Sulekha Diwan (played by veteran actress Aruna Irani). The character Sulekha Diwan essays the role of Siddhi’s close aide and will be instrumental in resurrecting Siddhi’s life and taking care of Siddhi’s child. The Anand in Siddhi’s life is a mollycoddled child who has been given whatever he wants whenever he needs it. Shocked to see her son behave in such a way, Siddhi decides to control him and make him toe the line. Richa will gain respect in Kunal’s (Sameer Soni) family for having saved their grandchild. Kunal on the other hand, is completely disillusioned by Siddhi’s betrayal and finds it difficult to pick up the pieces. His only saviour is his son, Anand who takes care of him and is his support system.

It waits to see how fate will play a key role in bring the two brothers face to face and how they would uncover the reality of their parents and play mediators to bring their separated parents together?

To enjoy this interesting turn of events post the leap keep watching Parichay…Nayee Zindagi Ke Sapno Ka

Monday to Friday at 9.30 PM Only on COLORS

These best players from Mumbai will join 45 other players, who will be divided into four teams of 12 each and will be tested on all parameters (including physical attributes, individual skills, match situations and their performances in actual matches) before 12 of the best players are chosen to travel to Manchester United for a week and to train alongside the Manchester United Academy team.

Bhairavi Jaikishan Created a Wonderful World of Ornate Traditional Fashion at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Mumbai, Monday, August 06, 2012: Calling her collection “A Wonderful World”, Bhairavi Jaikishan presented at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012, the intricate techniques, colours and silhouettes created for several decades.

Keeping the focus on cocktail, evening and bridal wear, Bhairavi showed ornate saris and lehengas along with the very unique lehenga-sari, which is her trademark in a crisply edited show.

Rich shades of black, nude, ivory, mustard, emerald, midnight blue, aubergine, shocking pink, red and burgundy scorched the ramp with their beauty.

The silhouettes were traditionally classic; restricted to the favourite options as contrasts appeared for saris and blouses with dramatic eye-catching necklines that almost resembled jewelled neckpieces.

Using only net as her fabric choice, Bhairavi turned the fragile beautiful fabric into visions around which only dreams are woven. Down the red velvet covered ramp, the models looked ethereal as the first black lehenga-sari with the contrast lining glided down the catwalk. From visions in black, Bhairavi brought in ivory for the sari with bunches of tonal resham floral embellishments, a contrast petticoat and black net choli.

Detailing came in the form of scalloped sequin borders for the saris and badla work for the lining and lehengas. The bouquets of floral embellishments on the cholis’ neck were superb. Bhairavi’s choice of motifs for the embroidery was partial to roses, flowers as well as pencil lines of sequins or diamond shapes in zari. 3D magenta roses were appliquéd on the sari pallav or splashed on the fabrics and cholis. The final red section had gold lace appliqué snaking down the sari for some of the entries while ornate gold serpentine vines decorated the others. The final two lehengas, cholis and dupattas were exquisite in their embellishments and a great tribute to the design sensibilities of Bhairavi and the skill of her craftsmen.

For Indian exotic creations with an ornate appeal, the global woman will love to be a part of Bhairavi Jaikishan’s “Wonderful World”.

Abhishek Dutta, Shyamal and Bhumika Shodhan gave their Creations a New Style Statement at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Abhishek Dutta’s Intricately Crafted Collection Dazzled on the Ramp at the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 Season

Mumbai, Monday, August 06, 2012: Creating a medley of form fitting and voluminous shapes, Abhishek Dutta’s creativity was dazzling as the “Tangram” collection appeared on the ramp at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012.

Matching the aspects of the inspiration, the intricately crafted almost futuristic garments were splashed with beautiful thread work appliqués with fabric and leather, interesting laser cut designs, panels with mix and match combos of leather and fabrics.

From high waist trousers to long or cropped jackets, the look moved from classic to androgynous. Black and white, moved to brown and then the colour story brought in blue, dramatic purple and canary yellow for a line of boleros with checked design and 3D blocks teamed with figure hugging trousers. Flowing Samurai pants with Tangram prints, jackets with hints of kantha embroidery and pin tucks were striking, while the coats with sheer tulle sleeves and zippered front were eye catching.

The show opened with two male models striding in from the audience wearing gas masks while a female model in grey Jodhpuri pants, embroidered cropped top and a luminous head band glided down the ramp. The very sombré but creatively designed and constructed men’s wear had jackets with leather appliqués, trims and embroidery on shoulders, yokes and garments. Contrast lapels made an appearance for a few jackets, while printed kurtas in diverse colours were teamed with well finished coats.

Women’s wear was sharply cut with a clever mix of fabrics, leather and laser cutting insets. 3D shoulder appliqués highlighted net sleeves; while contrast yokes with back drape for a shrug was an out-of-box idea.

Evening wear had long pleated umbrella skirts, net and fabric combinations for jumpsuits, lots of sheer bodices for gowns and the only purple sari with a leather cutwork pallav; was very futuristic in concept and style. The show ended with a sexy cowl pocket pair of shorts and a skinny long sleeved blouse that further emphasised the theme of the show.

Bringing oriental glamour with a marked western touch for his collection to centre stage, Abhishek Dutta’s “Tangram” line presented an innovative look for the coming season.

Grandeur and Glitz Came onto the Ramp with the Shyamal and Bhumika Shodhan Collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Called the “Maharaja”, it was a collection from Shyamal and Bhumika Shodhan that recreated the grandeur and glory of royalty from the past at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012.

With custom designed motifs for every garment, the perfectly coordinated men’s and women’s bridal outfits gave a new direction to wedding trousseaux for Him and Her.

The silhouettes were reminiscent of the Mughal era with chogas, kalidar lehengas, Sherwanis, panelled kurtas for men and embroidered kali details for saris, angarkhas, lehengas, dupattas and cholis making a dramatic impact on the catwalk. Known for their lush ornate creations, the designing duo had zardozi, metal wire, zari peeta, aari and Marodi embroidery to add to the beauty of the creations.

Velvet was the favoured fabric for the pair as it appeared for sherwanis, kurtas, cholis, saris and even for dupattas and shawls; while net brocade and georgette added to the glamour of the collection. The colour palette was obviously rich to match the theme with red, wine, jade, black, maroon, teal, purple, ivory, blue, ruby, champagne, beige and gold painting a luxurious story.

Men’s wear was opulent in style and detailing almost recreating the grandeur of the Mughal courts. Heavily embellished sherwanis, chogas, kurtas and Jodhpuri jackets were worn with dhotis, salwars or churidars and imposing shawls or dupattas.

Women’s wear had floor length panelled kurtas that floated down the catwalk in the regal splendour. The multi fabric saris – net, brocade and velvet – created a magnificent look for the traditional attire. The lehengas fully encrusted with zardozi embroidery will definitely gladden the hearts of many a blushing bride.

Detailing played a major role as placement embellishments were given a greater dimension to recreate royal grandeur.

The “Maharaja” collection from Shyamal and Bhumika Shodhan was an exquisite bridal offering that will have a timeless appeal and will surely turn into heirloom pieces.

DHL Presented the Exotic Collections of Shivan & Narresh and Swapnil Shinde at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Mumbai, Monday, August 06, 2012: DHL presented an exciting show with ‘Speed’ as its theme which is the brand’s distinct quality. The black acrylic ramp, the high-tech laser show and the opening with waves of Technicolor strobes set the mood for the first collection by designers Shivan & Narresh.

Shivan & Narresh Created a Collection Inspired by DHL’s Speed Theme at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

With the legendary stallion, Equus as an inspiration, Shivan & Narresh created a luxurious collection to match the theme from DHL which was Speed. The beautiful collection reflected the shimmer of metallic sheen and the grace of the inspiration for creations that dazzled on the runway.

Their new fabrics which were inspired by the gloss of a horse’s skin were ideal for the swim and cruise line. The exciting handmade louvered jersey was moulded into stylish mailot, bikini, dress, gown, sari, tankini, trikini, jumpsuits and shirts as well as the duo’s newest addition after their bikini sari and Kaftan sari the “Kafsuit”.

Detailing was restricted to braiding which was an obvious reminder of the horse mane and appeared to highlight the bodice and necks of the garments. Tassels entered the collection in the crystallised form to recreate the tassels on royal horses. The very abstract horse print in black appeared discreetly for the mailots; while at other times there were geometric motifs to break the solid colour tones.

The colour story was muted with grey, brown, beige, ice grey, black and acid for the body moulding creations which were beautifully finished and constructed. The finale entry – a slinky gown with the long horse mane as the only embellishment in front, reminded the audience very firmly about the speed of DHL and the imagery of the stallion.

The 26 piece collection which was displayed briskly on the ramp by Shivan & Narresh for DHL, once again proved that when it comes to fashion for in and out of the water the pair is still the undisputed leader.

Swapnil Shinde Presented his Ultra Chic Collection Inspired by DHL’s Theme Speed at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Inspired by Bollywood’s horror films of the 50’s and early 60’s Swapnil Shinde presented an ultra-mod collection called “Frozen Fragility” to match the DHL theme ‘Speed’ at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012.

To the strains of eerie music and an equally eerie display of laser lights the show opened with three draped gowns in red, black and white with wired wing-like shapes to depict the flying pallav of the heroine in a Bollywood horror movie.

With silhouettes borrowed from the two eras, Swapnil had cinched waistlines, voluminous skirts, exaggerated sleeves and large prominent shoulder emphasis for the almost space age like creations but with a unique fragile delicate quality.

Colours ranged from black and ivory to various shades of slate and steel blue, blood red and sunflower yellow. Using clever manipulations of the fabrics like folding, pleating and mixing structured shapes with fluidity; Swapnil created a fashionable treat for the audience. The white draped sari gown with gold belt, the draped organza bodice with long shirt, the shirt cum dress, the ribbed silk kimono sleeve version, the sari gown in steel blue and the yellow draped mini with wired wings fitted into the inspiration. The exaggerated wired brocade blouse with pleated skirt and the final three white, black and yellow long gowns with upright wired effects not only denoted speed but the free flowing drapes of garments.

Blending his inspirations of Speed and Horror imaginatively, Swapnil Shinde’s “Frozen Fragility” presented by DHL was a fashion happening.

Blender’s Pride Presented the Stunning Men’s And Women’s Collection by Sanchita Ajjampur to End Day Four at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012

Mumbai, Monday, August 06, 2012: The colours of the Fire Bird came to life in the multi-hued collection of Sanchita Ajjampur, presented by Blender’s Pride at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012.

Cut-outs of hundreds of butterflies swayed from the ceiling, the back drop was the Mythical Garden with flora and fauna, which came to life with the back lights to start the show.

“The Mythical Garden” inspired Sanchita’s women’s wear with a 50’s and 60’s touch. Fabrics were a surrealistic collection of neoprene Lurex, jacquards, gold wash lace, georgettes, sheer chiffons and crepes. The colours created the magical impact with lavender, green, blush, nude and lemon along with metallic tones.

Keeping the silhouettes dramatic but practical, Sanchita offered kimono shapes, cinched waists, asymmetric reinvented poodle skirts, trapeze, drop waist and flapper dresses.

Opening the show with her specialty – the swimwear, Sanchita displayed four versions – a rhinestone bikini, a trikini, mailot and crystal one-shoulder swimsuit. Soon the designer brought in shimmering tiered gowns, bell sleeved sheaths, drop waist dresses with innovative stone embroidery and reflective black gold plastics for floppy frocks.

Detailing came in the form of lots of plaited and knotted tapes, cord and soft thread layers to create minis and maxis. The decorative feather shapes and punch fabrics added a shredded or lacy look to the cute dresses. For after dark glamour there were beige loose weave gown with glittering neck and waist interest and textured long tops over gleaming skirts. Completing the look, Sanchita added clutches, jewellery, shimmering wedges for footwear and headgear that matched with the eras.

For men’s wear, the inspiration was quirky – “Bull Dogging Bill Pickett goes Bollywood” as she revived the Wild West era using native American graphic touches and layering of fabrics.

Bomber jackets, wide legged cropped and jogger’s pants, deconstructed tailored suits were in deep tones of apricot, plum, black, currant, rhubarb, honey, berry and cool blue. Fabrics took an interesting turn with Lurex, matte parachute, nylon, suede, Nubuck leather, molleton jersey, silk, cotton, muslin, twills and cotton jerseys making a definite style statement.

Lurex hoodies, Bermudas, capris, Wild West motif embroidery for shirts and prints of American graphics came alive on soft jackets, pants and accessories. The crimped cottons were cool comfort wear, while the net over knit blouson, the soft leather suit and the red embroidered jacket gave new fashion directions to the male dresser.

For the accessories, Sanchita chose totes, bandana, moccasins, printed canvas and spotted cow leather for sandals and belts to show the Wild West aura in the collection.

It was a colourful, very edgy and interesting collection for both sexes that Blender’s Pride presented by Sanchita Ajjampur, which will cause a fashionable stir during the coming season.
