Divya Khosla Kumar announces the leads of her contemporary entertainer – Yaariyan!

Divya Khosla Kumar, wife of T-Series head honcho, Bhushan Kumar ,who debuted as an actress with Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo, now marks her debut as a director in Yaariyan, a contemporary young film that takes audiences through the trials and tribulations of the best years of their life.

As the trailer of the film launches online on youtube today,the debutante director couldn’t be more excited to introduce her film’s starcast, a potential lot of future stars who make their big Bollywood debut with the film,backed by Divya who goes all out to prove that it doesn’t take big names to make a big film.

Having handled both aspects of production and direction ,the young mother, backed with a strong script and great music, sees the realization of a 13 year old dream with this contemporary entertainer that will have audiences leave cinema halls with a tear and a smile.

Since the director took over a year and a half only on casting for the ambitious entertainer , she ensured that she found nothing but the best !

Says Divya Khosla Kumar, “I wanted to be a director when I was just 18.It was a huge struggle getting here.I spent a great deal of time on the casting since I needed actors who would suit the characters in the film to the T. To me these characters were real and I’ve lived with them through the filming of this movie.They are an extremely talented lot ”

Lakshya is quite the casanova ! He is every bit the “bad boy” that girls love. Like most guys his age , he is a rebel without cause. When looking to cast for this role , I happened to come across Himash Kohli,a former radio jockey from Delhi. Though initially I had reservations, something about him kept everyone involved and that was so much like Lakshya in the film. Several auditions later Himansh was moulded into Yaariyan’s Lakshya.

Saloni was a character extremely special to me since in ways she is a lot like me in real life.Someone vulnerable and innocent but who goes all guns blazing to get what she wants. She has a good body of work down south,the character needed beauty in simplicity and Rakul fit the bill.

The best way to describe Jia would be every guy’s dream …She is sexy and fiesty ! Nicole who won Miss India Earth in 2010 was our first option for this role .She was also the first lead we signed without a moment’s hesitation. She has also worked extremely hard on her diction since she didn’t speak Hindi and had to train extensively in the language.

Divya Khosla Kumar on Shreyas Pardiwalla aka Pardi
Every college group has a clown and that’s who Pardi is…He is a funny , cute guy who always makes for a best buddy and can always make you smile.Shreyas who essays the role in the film is immensely talented and someone the audiences will enjoy watching.

Divya Khosla Kumar on Devanshu Sharma aka Neil –
Neil in the film is a biker,well dressed,well polished and eludes class .It’s also a very challenging role in the film.What made it easy for me to cast Devanshu for this role was the fact that he is extremely well bred in real life too.

Ruhi Singh blessed with the pretty looks hails from Jaipur & before she could complete her graduation she already had won titles of Miss Model of the World, representing India at China, Miss United Nations representing India at Miami & the biggest being a Femina Miss India finalist. Too young for too much, she has already signed 2 films, one of them being produced by one of the grandest banner ‘Bombay Talkies’.

Bollywood happened to her when she least expected it! Ruhi exclaims, “I’d just begun. I always had this fetish for beauty pageants and I’ve had my share. I had my modeling assignments to do. One fine day I accompanied a friend to this audition she had to go for and that’s how I landed up in 2 movies. So yeah, I got really lucky.”

Rapping is where her heart lies, Ruhi exclaims, “Exactly. I’ve dreamt of giving an international hit album. I wouldn’t brag but yeah…I am really good at it. I am taking acting way too seriously and been attending workshops to learn more and brush my acting skills. I am at a happy place. Working with Nasirr Sir is fantastic & I am honored to work with Bombay Talkies. I know it is going to play a pivotal role in my career.”

She is beautiful & she knows it, Ruhi concludes, “If it is meant to happen, it will happen & I was to be an actor and that is happening. Everything came to me at the right time. I am ready!”

Actress Esha Gupta, who recently shot a special number for Punit Malhotra’s “Gori Tere Pyaar Mein”, says it is not an typical item song.

“I am looking forward to this song. It’s a club song and it’s not a typical item song. It’s a very peppy song, which is a kind of introduction to Imran’s character in the film. It can be called as an introduction song, which is part of the film,” Esha told IANS.

Esha sports a “cool” look in the song, thanks to a short skirt designed by Manish Malhotra, and she believes “he makes any damn thing looks cool”.

The actress says she had a great time working with Imran and is looking forward to work with him in a full-fledged film.

“Imran is a great guy. I had a great time working with him. I would really like to work with him in films,” she said.

Anushka Sharma turns producer

Joins hands with Phantom for NH-10

Mumbai,October 31st,2013:-Anushka Sharma is joining hands with Phantom to produce Navdeep Singh’s next film called NH 10. Anushka, who plays the lead in the film, liked the script so much that she has decided to co-produce it with Phantom. At 25, this makes her among the youngest actor-producers on the block taking her into a different league altogether vis-à-vis her contemporaries. With two of the biggest films Rajkumar Hirani’s Peekay with Aamir Khan and Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet with Ranbir Kapoor, NH 10 will be her third release next year.

Continuing with their content driven films like Lootera, which released this year, Phantom will back Navdeep Singh to direct his second film post his critically acclaimed debut Manorama 6 feet Under. The film is full with edge of the seat action & thrills, when a road trip goes wrong. It brings together a very talented crew of technicians including international action directors.

Speaking on her new role, Anushka says, “I’m thrilled to get a chance to do this so early on in my career. And I couldn’t have found a better project than NH-10 to kick-start this new phase in my film journey. This is my second film after Bombay Velvet with Phantom, and it’s a blast working with them. It’s going to be super-exciting working together again on what promises to be an explosive film.”

Crime Patrol to air a special “Godmen” case based in Pune

Sony Entertainement Television popular reality-based crime show “Crime Patrol” will narrate a special “Godmen” case in Pune. In the wake of so called Godmen being exposed by the media, Crime Patrol is all set to bring you the story of another quack who not only duped innocent people but also committed crime as heinous as murder. The protagonist in this story Baba Rajasagi (who used innumerable aliases) tells innocent people that he has seen a dream of god telling him to build a temple in the village. The innocent people dole out money as donation for the purpose and then the baba vanishes.

Devotees believe he is praying in isolation and would turn up one day to keep his word. Unknown to them, the baba is being searched for the Pune Police, who also have to no clue to who the baba is except six phone numbers that the baba was using. As a matter of fact the police were searching the baba for a double murder, that of a woman Rohini and her 5 year old daughter Chanda. The house where the bodies are found in a chawl, belongs to Gokul Daware who had given it on rent to Baba Rajasagi. And now Baba Rajasagi is absconding. No one in the chawl has his photograph. What were Rohini and Chanda doing in Baba’s house? Rohini’s father, Amardev a construction laborer reveals his family is devoted to Baba and Rohini was taking care of Baba in the house.

Mumbai: Every Indian has grown up conditioned to the view that the Pandavas were virtuous, and wronged; and that the Kauravas were manipulative and evil. Questions to the modern mind:

History is written by the victorious and Jaya (Mahabharata) was written in favour of the Pandavas. The writing was biased to the victors and completely black faced the Kauravas. A few insights and a modern mind challenges what has been perceived till yet:

Why would a father (a knowledgeable emperor) name his children as villains? i.e. Duryodhana (mis user of wealth (dhana) and power), Dushashana (mis- administrator) ? – Their names seem to be changed.
The pedigree of Suyodhana (actual name of Duryodhana) was of a King so just, he gave away his son’s inheritance to his brother’s children and a mother who sacrificed god’s greatest blessing to a human (eye sight), to share her husband’s blindness. Compare it to those of the Pandavas, where all the brothers were born of people who was not their father. They shared a wife, gambled their wife for a game, etc. several questions arise.

Why the name Ajaya?

Two reasons, one Jaya (Mahabharata) is told from the perspective of the Pandavas, hence the other side of the story, that of Kaurava’s we have called, ‘Ajaya’. Also, ‘Ajaya’ in Sanskrit means the un-conquerable, which is true of the Kaurava clan, which did not surrender and had to be decimated to the last person standing.

Some fascinating details:

The book has four principal heroes: Duryodhana, Karna, Aswathama and Ekalavya. The story unfolds with equal importance for all four, but Duryodhana remains the principal protagonist of this tale without villains.
In his efforts to trace the Pandavas in exile, Duryodhana traversed the forests of the deep South, to reach Malanada. Tired and thirsty, he asked for water. He was served toddy by an elderly woman, an untouchable. He drank the water and blessed her and the place.
Abiding by his concept of rajadharma, Duryodhana began Siva worship in these hills, praying for the protection of the disadvantaged. He gave away hundreds of acres of agricultural land as freehold to the Devasthanam. Even today, the land tax on this property is levied in the name of Duryodhana.
Duryodhana also ensured that Gandhari (his mother), Dussala (his sister), Karna (his friend), Drona (his Guru), and others, were given respectful observance near the temple. Members of the Kurava caste remain the poojaris at the temple.
The book explores why great men of integrity, like Bhishma, Drona, as well as Krishna’s entire army, fought for Duryodhana.

‘R…Rajkumar’ gives India its first custom comic

R…Rajkumar gave its fans a chance to feature alongside Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha in India’s first custom comic. The contest, which began on 25th October on Facebook, invited its fans to submit their ‘faadu’ story ideas. Of these, three winners would soon be featured in a special digital comic.

Starring Sonakshi Sinha and Shahid Kapoor, the movie has caught massive attention through its ‘hatke’ dialogues and songs that make one dance to its beats. Giving fans another reason to be excited, the Facebook page of the movie began the contest where the participants had to submit their stories in the comment box. The selection of the winning entries will be on the basis of how interesting and out-of-the-ordinary the story is and would then be turned into, what would be India’s first custom comic for any movie. The winners would be featured in their own story alongside Shahid and Sonakshi in their digital avatar in the Comic strip. The contest ended on 31st October 2013.
