Crime Patrol will air a special episode on the Delhi gangrape case this weekend. Its presenter Anup Soni appreciates the verdict but has an ambiguous opinion on the death sentence. Anup Soni, presenter of Sony’s Crime Patrol, has mixed opinion on the verdict of Delhi gangrape case. The incident held last year in the city will be presented on TV on September 21. “I have two opinions on that. I wouldn’t advocate death sentence completely but it depends on the crime that has been committed. What these men did was exceptionally brutal. The girl and her friend also sought their mercy but they had become devils. So, I am okay with this judgement. We need to prove a point. In our country, people think they can do anything and get away with it easily. So it was important to instill fear in the minds of criminals,” says Soni. The episode was shot in January but was put on hold after initial protests. “We have always followed facts. We don’t twist the incidents and just want to raise a few questions. Even in this case, we have followed what has been told and recorded by the police. We have no intention to sensationalise the issue and get any viewership mileage. We are simply asking what lessons we have learnt, what precautions we need to take and what change we can implement,” he says. The actor believes that justice should be delivered in all the cases and not just the ones highlighted by the media. “I have strong opinion on acid attacks. We shot an episode on Sonali Mukherjee whose face was destroyed with acid. Her culprits are roaming free today which is very sad,” he observes.

The 38-year-old has become a different person after doing the show. He says his point of view and the way of looking at others have changed. “I have become more sensitive towards people than what I used to be three years ago. We spend endlessly on our lifestyles but we start squabbling over petty issues without service providers. People would dine out at an expensive restaurant but would never pay extra money to the maid. It is high time that we start understanding their perspectives,” he says adding that the difference between rich and poor is one of the factors behind converting men into devils. “There is frustration in society. In Mumbai, they say outsiders come and do the crime. But one should realise that the man committing crime also has the responsibility of his children and family. They should be treated as human beings. They need to be given what they deserve. If you understand others, life will be easier,” he says. Soni has been with Crime Patrol for a long time and doesn’t hesitate in adding his inputs. He reads the entire screenplay of the episode. “Sometimes I even add certain lines and my team is happy to incorporate my inputs. I don’t take part in the research process since there is a dedicated department for this,” he says.

Neetu and AB dance on KBC

It was a historic moment on the sets on Kaun Banega Crorepati as Neetu Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan danced together for the first time on television.

Neetu Kapoor along with Ranbir made an appearance on the show to promote their upcoming movie ‘Besharam’. Amitabh Bachchan was very excited to meet her actress of many movies and greeted her in a secret gesture that had Ranbir scratching his brains. Amitabh then recalled the days of shooting the song ‘Saara zamana’ at the Kolkata Stadium and how Neetu Kapoor panicked when a fight broke out. Neetu also revealed that putting lights on the costume was infact AB’s idea.

Later Amitabh invited Neetu to dance with him and both grooved to the song ‘Saara zamana’ much to the applause of the audience.

As it is rightly said ‘facts are stranger than the fiction’… so true! Otherwise who would believe that a small time farmer with a tiny piece of land can not only survive the wrath of mighty ‘Zhamindaars of the town but make them move like puppets at his will’… unbelievable… yes… but its true and this is the story of ‘ Narba’s life!

In his late eighties also he is still fit and fine and fighting with all the mighty big-wigs in the town… his story goes like this so far….

Narba owns a small piece of land which he has cultivated into heaven. He loves his land like his own blood or his skin. He works hard years after years in his garden. The garden was everything for him. But one day the fortune of Narba takes a turn.

The cruel Zamindaar, Rangrao Khot sets his eyes on Narba’s garden and demands that garden from him. Narba just could not take this thought. He refuses flatly. And the Zamindaar cant take this ‘no’ and he goes berserk. He sends some goons to kill Narba and poor Narba has to flee for his dear life.

He runs away in a jungle where he meets a dacoit- Sattu Ramoshi, who has come there for hunting. He listens to Narba’s story and gives a threat to the Zamindaar. The Zamindaar can’t take this insult and commits suicide. And Narba comes back to his beloved garden.

Years pass by and the son of the Zamindaar- Malhari, is now ruling the town. And Narba is considerably old and frail.

Looking at his Narba’s state the Zamindaar’s son realizes that he would not live longer so he strikes a deal with Narba. He agrees to pay Narba a certain amount every month and in return he promises to name his garden in his name after his death. Realizing that he cannot match the Zamindaar in muscle or money power Narba accepts the proposition. And the son of the Zamindaar is extremely happy for fulfilling the dream of his father.

Years pass by and the money of the Zamindaar keeps on vanishing. He keeps preying to the gods that one day Narba would die and he would become the owner of the land. But there is no sign. Finally he proposes Narba to take poison and end his life. Now it’s really a tough time for old Narba.

What happens next? Does Narba take the poison? Does he end his life? Or as usual he becomes successful to defeat the biggest tyrant called ‘The death’?

This and many more questions would find their answers in a hilarious and thought provoking manner as the story of Narba and his fight against all odds unfolds!

18th, September 2013, London: Vikas Swarup, diplomat and the author of the international bestseller Q & A, which was adapted into the multi-BAFTA and Academy Award winning film Slumdog Millionaire, will be joined by 100 children for the Launch of The Unity of Faiths Foundation (TUFF), a UK based non-profit, secular organisation that recognises the importance of inter-community dialogue and acceptance as the bedrock of community cohesion and understanding.

Taking place in one of London’s most diverse areas, Southall, on Friday 27th September 2013, Vikas Swarup will participate in a procession uniting over a hundred students from various schools across London to carry the first Torch of Unity. The event reflects TUFF’s 2013 focus on Youth, with the core belief being that in order to sow the seeds of respect and mutual understanding for each other early, it is vital to connect with the younger generation – the ‘voices of tomorrow’.

Vikas Swarup’s debut novel, Q & A, tells the story of how a penniless waiter in Mumbai becomes the biggest quiz show winner in history. Critically acclaimed in India and abroad, this international bestseller has been translated into 43 different languages. CRIME PATROL– DELHI BUS GANG RAPE CASE (PART I)

This episode is the first of two-episode chronicle of the recent `much in debate’ Delhi Gangrape case in Delhi. The shameful and damning incident occurred on the fateful night of 16th of December 2012 when the victim Suhasi (23) boarded a private bus (that otherwise ferries school children) on her way home to Munirka along with her boyfriend nilesh, unaware that six drunkards, perverts were waiting for a prey inside. These men including the driver Mohan Singh, his brother Manoj Singh, their friends, Ravi Kaushik, Hansraj Malik, Govind Singh and Chhotu first began to pass lewd remarks at the sole passenger couple Suhasi and nilesh the moment the bus left Munirka. nilesh reacted as expected and this gave the men a chance to get physical with nilesh and soon they beat and bundled him up at one corner of the bus and and pounced on Suhasi like savages. All this was happening in the moving bus with tinted fglass and its curtains closed and lights off and a defiant Suhasi resisting the brutes as long as she could. Enraged with her resistance the six men take out their vengeance on her. They first took turns to rape her and then beat and shoved her with iron rods. in the most unthinkable, unimaginable, indescribable manner. The six men after having satiated their savage thirst threw off nilesh and Suhasi near the Mahipalpur flyover and drive off. At 11.30 pm, 2 hours after they boarded the bus, badly injured Suhasi and nilesh were spotted by two passersby, who informed the nearest PCR Van, who eventually sent them to the Safdarjung Hospital. The Vasant Vihar police in the meanwhile set off to find the assailants and the bus on the basis of the description given by nilesh. The investigating police also gathered information from a carpenter Rakesh Dhawan who was assaulted and looted by those six men who later raped Suhasi in the same. Little did the police realize at that time that they were dealing with an incident that was going to snowball into a modern day revolution that will force both the government and society to realize enough is enough?

In tonights episode, the victim Suhasi (23) was raped and assaulted by the six men in a moving bus and little did the police realize that they were dealing with an incident that was going to snowball into a modern day revolution that will force both the government and society to realize enough is enough.. ..Ever since the admission in the hospital Suhasi’s condition was deteriorating with every passing minute but she was conscious and providing details as to what happened to her amidst multiple operations being performed on her. In the meanwhile the bus driver and one of the main culprits Mohan Singh was arrested and other members of his gang were to follow suit soon. But the most important development was that the anger among youth of India, as the news of this ghastly crime was slowly spreading all over, was silently but decisively brewing. The plight of Suhasi had touched every heart as if the gore of the crime roused anger inside everyone. Sensing the pulse of the people, political leaders began rushing to the hospital to offer their token of concern and a promise of justice. But this time the anger of the people was beyond the imagination of any politician. Without any prejudiced thoughts or any political agenda the youth of the country was just not ready to tolerate no more apathy and indifference from the establishment. Their anger soon galvanized into an full-blown impromptu movement undeterred of police barricades, teargas shells, water canon or police lathi-charge By the evening of 21st December, 2012, four days after the ghastly crime, all the six culprits were in police custody but the flip side was that the innocent victim Suhasi was losing the battling for her life. She had suffered a cardiac arrest and was on life support. Her deteriorating condition couple with the pressure mounted by protestors, forced the Government to airlift her to a Hospital in Singapore for specialized treatment but she couldn’t sustained her brave battle and died on December 29, 13 days after the assault. The movement that began with the plight of Suhasi is still on even after her death and her sacrifice is expected to bring a watershed change in our approach to safeguard our sisters against crimes as heinous as rape and stringent punishment possibly a death penalty to those who bring humanity to shame.

Anita Advani has no agenda for Bigg Boss!

When Anita Advani got in touch with Bollywood PR guru Dale Bhagwagar about Bigg Boss, the best advice he probably gave her was to be herself on the show.

The publicist, who handled all the hype and controversy about Advani’s Rajesh Khanna connection after the superstar’s demise, says she is an “overtly emotional person” and “would very likely have multiple breakdowns in the cutthroat atmosphere of the Bigg Boss house.”

“But mind you, she also has a lot of inner strength and can bounce back with great clarity. Basically, she’s a fighter, so don’t underestimate her as a weak contestant just because of the overflowing sentiments or tears,” reveals the publicist.

“Anitaji was wondering what could be in store for her in the house of scandal. I could have told her many things to guide her, but all I asked her to be, is herself.” Dale gave this simple advice to her for a reason.

He explains, “Many contestants go on Bigg Boss with an agenda. Normally, there is a PR plan in place to help them reach the finals. But Anitaji has gone there to face her past and move on in life. There is no plan; no agenda. Neither am I handling her PR while she is in Bigg Boss. So, to be herself, was the best advice I could have given her, knowing well the person she is.”

For the record, Dale was himself invited as a contestant for BB7, but he chose not to take it up. Now, let’s see how far Anita Advani goes without a PR plan in Bigg Boss.

Cyber cops rescue Evelyn Sharma from errant website

The Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani actress Evelyn Sharma has heaved a sigh of relief, with Cyber Crime Cell of Lucknow Police, Uttar Pradesh, taking up her case on war footing. Following swift action by the cops, the website has publicly apologized and removed all objectionable content.

“Honestly, we did not expect such speed from the cops in resolving the matter. But Mr Dinesh Yadav, nodal officer and head of Cyber Crime Cell in the city was cooperation personified,” reveals Evelyn’s publicist Dale Bhagwagar, who filed the complaint on behalf of the actress.

Evelyn was facing constant persecution through falsities in articles by a Lucknow-based website bollygupshup.org run by one Gagan Deep Mishra alias Akash Deep Mishra, when she complained to the cyber cops.

Within a span of a week, the website repeatedly attacked the actress with different statements, incorrectly claiming that she had undergone plastic surgery, was part of a film titled Joker, as well as put up a false age, on the pretext of picking content from Wikipedia and IMDB, without verification.

Moreover, it ‘tagged’ Evelyn on her Twitter account in the web links of these articles containing the fabricated information, in an apparent attempt to intimidate the actress on social media.
