Akki’s to sing Qawali on small screen

From bashing the bad boys in his movies to romancing with the leading ladies to tickling the audiences with his coming timing, Bollywood’s Khiladi Kumar has impressed his fans in every role he had played. This multi-talented star amazed everyone when he crooned a romantic song- Mujh Mein Tu for his movie Special Chabbis for which he apparently underwent a five months training to perfect his voice.

Akki has once again made use of this training and this time on small screen. While performing for a special Eid show Jashan-e-Eid soon to be telecasted on COLORS, the actor sang the famous qawalli- Chadhta Suraj.

He sang the Qawali with the famous Pakistani Sufi duo Shabiri Brothers, when he decided to dedicate this song to an old college-mate of his, who he lost years back. He said, “This song is dedicated to a very close friend who passed away at a very young age. We used to hum this song together in college and I miss him whenever I hear it. The song is very close to my heart.”

So compassionate was his voice, Akki stirred everyone present on the sets with his genuineness and sincerity. He was performing with the star cast of Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobara when his emotional side came fore on stage.

The show will go on air on August 11, 2013 on COLORS.

Flaunting Royal Elegance

The opening of Indian Bridal Week 2013 Delhi Edition was by the renowned couturier JJ Valaya whose name is synonymous with Opulence, royalty, and rich cultural heritage of India, especially, when it comes to haute couture.

JJ Valaya marked the beginning of this extravagant bridal week with his grand show. The city’s socialites who turned up for the great show are actress-turned-socialite Shifanjali Rao, fashionistas Dimpy Kapur and Aanchal Sukhija. “I absolutely love JJ’s show that had big white royal umbrellas were set, which depicted the scene of some king’s court, with models sitting on the thrones wearing white ensembles and chunky Indian jewellery, like king and queens of Mughal Era. The quintessentially royal and opulent element which was prevalent during the whole show has always been an integral part of Valaya’s shows,” added Shifanjali Rao. Kabir bedi walked the ramp in royal, long, velvet sherwani with heavy intricate gold work all over, together with thread work at hems and borders. It was teamed with a turban and kali.

“The most striking experience of JJ’s show was no doubt the set design of stenographer, designer and installation artist Sumant Jayakrishnan. It was such a stunning masterpiece, with boats, royal arches, cupolas – a veritable royal court fit for the collection theme called “The Maharaja of Madrid” looked nice and royal,” said Dimpy and Aanchal. The second show stopper of the evening was Kangana Ranaut, who showed up in floor sweeping lehenga in gold work, with the incorporation of paisley patterns.

The other designers who also showcased in Day 1 are designer-duo Shantanu and NiKhil, and on second day are Meera Muzaffar Ali, Rina Dhaka and Jyotsna Tiwari.
