Dar Motion Pictures is on a big high. After the huge success and critical acclaim, their next release Mickey Virus has also scored at the box office.

Dar Motion Pictures as a production house has been doing diverse content. They started this year with D Day, followed by Lunch Box and now Mickey Virus.

Lunch Box did a round of film festivals and was appreciated all over. With a cast including Irrfan Khan and Nirmit Kaur, the movie raised a lot of eyebrows.

Both the films, Lunch Box and Mickey Virus are very different from each other – in content as well in the way they have been marketed.

Mickey Virus on the other hand debuts Manish Paul and Elli Avram. With the image Manish, Mickey Virus too is a Comedy drama.

On behalf of Dar Motion Pictures, spokesperson says Mickey Virus has done very well at box office and has been applauded by the audience as well.

Rithvik Dhanjani – Arjun of Pavitra Rishta:

Rithvik Dhanjani.jpg

As a child, I used to go out with my father every Diwali to shop for crackers. This used to make me very happy and I still cherish those memories. Every Diwali I make it a practice to gift sweets and diyas to all of my friends.

I don’t usually burst noisy crackers like bombs and rockets, but prefer lighting up anaars, chakrees and phuljhadis that are not noisy at all. The decibel level of bombs and the smoke they emit is destructive not just to the environment but human health and well being too. That is why I don’t think there is any kind of fun in bursting noisy crackers!

Asha Negi1.JPGAsha Negi – Purvi of Pavitra Rishta:

I have always loved this festival of lights. Making rangolis and ofcourse bursting crackers is so much fun! And we also tend to have a small celebration on the sets of Pavitra Rishta as well. It is like one big happy family! The huge variety of sweets that one has at home makes this my time of indulgence as it is the only occasion I get to spend time with my family and close friends. Of course, as always, the year’s celebrations depend on our shoot schedules although I do plan to definitely spend a day with my family and friends

Shrishty Rode.JPG

Shrishty Rode – Sarita of Punarvivaah

I have always celebrated Diwali with my family. It is that one occasion that I get to meet my entire family at one place. Ofcourse the gifts that I receive from my bhaiyyas is also an added incentive. (laughs)

I absolutely love helping my mom make sweets and decorate the house with lights, diyas & rangolis. The lights and the festive atmosphere makes the entire house look so beautiful!

Paridhi Sharma.jpg

Paridhi Sharma – Jodha of Jodha Akbar

While the normal preparations of spring cleaning the house, festive shopping, lighting diyas and bursting crackers are on, I believe that festivals like Diwali are the perfect occasion for a family reunion and a celebration of these special moments with our loved ones. I would like to wish everyone a very happy, safe and noiseless Diwali. It’s time for all to let go of their diets and indulge in high calorie sweets. A little indulgence never killed anyone!

Shilpa Shirodkar2.JPG

Shilpa Shirodkar – Kamala Bai of Ek Mutthi Aasman

Diwali has always been an important celebration for my family. As a tradition, the entire family comes down from all parts of the country to celebrate Diwali. It truly is an amazing experience to have each and every family member present for the puja every day. Being a hindu, the grih pravesh also forms an important part of the celebration. Then who can forget the sweets, crackers, lights & card games in the evenings. I don’t attach undue importance to gifts. Spending time with family and friends means the most to me during Diwali. I spend every Diwali at home with my family. To me, Diwali is all about having a good time with my near and dear ones.

Surbhi Jyoti4.JPGSurbhi Jyoti – Zoya of Qubool Hai

I love firecrackers, but I ensure that I burst crackers with utmost safety and would appeal to everyone to have a safe and prosperous Diwali with their near and dear ones and good luck and happiness in the coming year. I love shopping and just like every year, this year too I will go all out and splurge on new clothes for Diwali and spend time with friends and family since I haven’t got any quality time to myself in a while. My friend’s mom always prepares a special sweet for me and I can’t wait to relish it!

Roopal Tyagi – Gunjan of Sapne Suhaane Ladakpan Ke

I have some amazing memories of celebrating Diwali during my childhood days. Being the eldest daughter it was my responsibility to decorate the entire house. After the Laxmi-Ganesh puja our first job was to light up the earthen lamps and burst crackers. Staying away from family now, I ensure to follow the same rituals here as well and feel at home. The only difference being – here I celebrate this festival with my extended family i.e. my close friends. However, this year I will also be celebrating it with my co-stars of Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke.

Vikrant Massey-Diwali.JPG

Vikrant Massey – Ayaan of Qubool Hai

I love the festival of lights. It’s the time of the year when we celebrate with our near and dear ones and this is an occasion which brings all of us closer and spreads cheer around. Staying away from family, I ensure that I celebrate this festival with my friends and co-actors. This time, however, the entire cast of Qubool Hai has planned to celebrate Diwali together on the sets since we are all like a family now.

Gautami Kapoor.jpg

Gautami Kapoor – Shruti of Khelti Hai Zindagi Aankh Micholi

I have always looked forward to festivals ever since I was a kid. This is the only time when the entire family gets together and we all exchange gifts. I remember one incident where we had gone to our relative’s place and returned to find that one rocket had burnt our curtains. Thankfully the windows were almost completely closed and no damage was done to the room. In Mumbai, the city is dotted with lights and it’s a wonderful sight to see every nook and corner lit up. This year I’m hoping for a day off from the shoot of Khelti Hai Zindagi Aankh Micholi a couple of days prior to Diwali so that I can go shopping for diyas and other decorative and decorate my house beautifully.

Sucheta Trivedi – Sushma of Bh Se Bhade

Diwali for me is all about crackers, sweets, new clothes, rangolis and kandils. I actively participated in making the elaborate and ornate Rangoli at our doorstep with my siblings. I think the kid in me comes alive during such festivities when I go all out and celebrate the festival like a child.

Manav Gohil – Sanjay of Khelti Hai Zindai Aankh Micholi

Diwali is one festival when I ensure that I go celebrate this festival with my family, either by going back home or by calling my family down to Mumbai. My daughter loves the lights, rangolis and the crackers around and enjoys to have company of friends and family around.

A Music & Dance Theatrical

Celebrating 100 years of Hindi Cinema Music

The Life of Musica is the era wise journey of Music, from the Silent Era Hindi Films to the present.

MUSICA is a concept and script created by Seema Sonik Alimchand .

It is Musica’s journey, from the beginning of time, moving to the royal darbars, then the blossoming, the love, the passion, the joy, the strive for independence, the fame, the death, the highs and the lows, all showcased in a series of electrifying, soul touching dance performances and acts taking the story forward.

Seema, a voice professional, writer and radio presenter, has researched the history of Indian Music since the last six years now. She connected with eminent personalities of the industry and has collected an audio bank of interviews with Khayyam, Manoj Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Raju Naushad, Pyarelal, Raju SIngh, Farida Jalal, Usha Khanna, Omi Sonik, Hasan Kamal among others.

As Seema mentioned “ These veterans of the different eras of the industry were easy access due to my late father Sonik, (Well known as Masterji) being a Music director and highly loved and respected by the film industry.

I used some of this data I collected and constructed a few scripts based on our film music, one of which was made into a 13 CD album, {HUNDRED YEARS OF MUSIC IN INDIAN CINEMA} instantly liked by HMV- SAREGAMA. The 13 CD Album pack’s conceptualization, written material, presentation, songs compilation and the complete putting together of this masterpiece is my handiwork, based on my knowledge and passion for music. Although HMV – SAREGAMA has subsequently sold the cd pack to Wizcraft and other corporates for their corporate gifting, the official launch by HMV SAREGAMA is slated around Diwali, this year.

Presently I am very excited about my theatrical/musical ‘MUSICA’ & creating ‘The Life of Musica’ based on my concept of era wise Hindi film music. The plan is to hold the first show around this new year. I am hoping to travel across India and Abroad with this theatrical. I have set up a Company ‘Saazonik Productions’ with my sister, and the theatrical will be produced by Saazonik. Under the banner, we plan to create many such brands in theatre, books, television, films etc

2014 will also see the release of my novel, a romantic thriller, a celebrity biography and some adventure stories for children. In the theatre space I am simultaneously working on a play based on paranormal phenomena. Thereafter I am going to work on a musical travel show depicting the history, evolution of Ghazals and Folk Music going on to Sufi, Bhakti, Pop etc.”

Musically yours…

Pritam and Prabhu Dheva come together for the very first time with R…Rajkumar (Sending u pic in half hour)

While Gandi Baat from Eros International and NextGen Films’ R…Rajkumar is already creating waves thanks to its high tempo beats and ever higher energy by Rajkumar aka Shahid Kapoor and director-choreographer Prabhu Dheva, the newest song that will have audiences asking for more is titled “Saare Ke Fall”, a quirky peppy number starring the film’s leads Shahid Kapoor and the gorgeous Sonakshi SInha.

Written by Mayur Puri and composed by maestro Pritam , Saare Ke Fall was the first schedule shot, keeping with director Prabhu Dheva’s tradition of always commencing a film’s shoot with a song.

Shot at the picturesque Salt belt in Bhuj, filming the song turned out to be quite a challenge given that the cast and crew traveled to the location on a tractor ,which was 2 1/2 kms away from the base.

Choreographed by Vishnu Dheva, the song’s styling highlights bright colors offsetting the pristine white background.

Commenting on the song says composer Pritam Chakraborty, “Saree ke fall is one of my most beautifully picturized songs with unique choreography and have enjoyed every time I have watched it. I cant simply get over the background dancers.”

Adds producer Viki Rajani, ” While brainstorming on this particular track, we thought it ideal to shoot at a location like Bhuj – It has not been used in movies often and suited this particular situation in the film…With R…Rajkumar Pritam and Prabhu Dheva come together for the very first time making it a special film for the both of them”.

Eros International and NextGen Films’ R…Rajkumar starring Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha, directed by Prabhu Dheva is scheduled to release 6th December 2013.

Director Sanjay Gupta to use extensive VFX in his upcoming film Mumbai Saga

Old, decrepit mills from yesteryear Mumbai make their way into Sanjay Gupta’s upcoming film Mumbai Saga. It will showcase the city from the bygone era. And the filmmaker will be incorporating a lot of special effects in the project to bring back the old and out- ofuse mills that used to once operate out of the city in the ’ 80s and the ’ 90s.

The film dwells on the subject of how hordes of mills, some famous for the wrong reasons, were forced to shut shop during that era.

Says Sanjay Gupta, “ The movie will be showing such vacant properties fully operational.

We will be recreating miniatures of these mills to show them being burnt down.” The film’s crew will also be heading to Belapur to shoot some action sequences.

“ We will be shooting some scenes with a train that used to run on the tracks in the ’ 90s. Now, it can only be seen in Belapur,” adds the director.
