“Sarvam Shashvatam” saw a unique exhibition by architect and artist Sharvari Luth, and designer Shobhana Datar along with her daughter Sneha Datar-Limaye featuring an exclusive art and couture exhibition for its audience on Monday, 14th October at Vivanta, Taj President, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai. Gracing the exhibition with her presence Chief Guest Hema Malini inaugurated Sarvam Shashvatam, witnessed by an enthusiastic gathering.

The exhibition was set in motion when Padmashri Hema Malini, an actress and artist of repute cut the ribbon and lit the ceremonial lamp, ushering the beginning of the exhibition. Sam Claffin recounts giving CPR to Josh Hutcherson as a beautiful moment

The actor talks about his most memorable moment while shooting for ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’

British actor, Sam Claflin who will be seen playing the role of Finnick Odair, winner from District 4 in ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’, recently spoke about his most memorable moments on the sets of the film. The actor quipped about his CPR scene with Josh Hutcherson when the actors were lip-to-lip as the moment he will never forget.

“I had to give Josh Hutcherson CPR. My mouth touching his was a beautiful moment,” said Claflin. The actor further joked, “It will be with me for the rest of my life. We were meant to be together.”

Sam Claflin and Josh Hutcherson will be seen in the film along with Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth. ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ is the second part of ‘The Hunger Games’ trilogy. The film focuses on Katniss Everdeen and fellow tribute Peeta Mellark’s (Josh Hutcherson) safe return after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games. But along the way on “Victory Tour”, Katniss senses a rebel simmer. Surprisingly, the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

National Skills Development Corporation and India @75 announce the 3rd edition of ‘Power to Empower 2013’

The challenge will promote innovative and sustainable solutions to address India’s Skill Development crisis and develop a strong skills ecosystem in India

Oct 14’ 2013 | Delhi, India: Power To Empower (P2E 2013), a national skills development challenge organized by National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) and India@75 recently launched its third edition in mid-September 2013. Supported by the Muthoot Pappachan Foundation, the CSR arm of the Muthoot Pappachan Group, the P2E 2013 Challenge is aimed at identifying, selecting and rewarding the best solutions bridging the gap between the supply and demand of skilled labour in India.

The application period is open now until December 1, 2013 and P2E 2013 invites individuals, groups as well as organisations to apply. Winners of P2E 2013 will receive cash prizes of INR 1.5 lakh and INR 3.5 lakh for the Idea and Operations categories respectively, capacity building support as well as nationwide visibility. Approximately 53% of employers in India say that skills deficiency is one of the key reasons for entry-level vacancies[1]. Currently, of the 15 million individuals who enter the work force, only 3% undergo vocational training due to limited access to such training opportunities in a fast growing economy. As a result, a majority of India’s population cannot realize the employment opportunities necessary to improve their income and lead a more prosperous life.

Recognizing this, P2E 2013 invites entrepreneurs, students, non-profits, corporates as well as enterprises with innovative and scalable solutions to apply for this challenge and contribute to the development of a sustainable vocational skills ecosystem in India.

Applications for P2E 2013 will be accepted as part of two distinct categories – Idea and Operations. The Idea category will focus only on short ideas with a solution concept developed only on paper whereas the Operations category will be open to those with an existing for or non-profit solution already in place addressing this issue.

The winner of the Idea and Operations categories will receive INR 1.5 lakh and 3.5 lakh cash respectively by the Muthoot Pappachan Foundation, the CSR arm of the Muthoot Pappachan Group. In addition, both winners will also receive access to the high profile capacity building Empretec program, an initiative of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.

Three finalists within each category will also be chosen, and in addition to the winners, will receive national visibility, networking opportunities, passes to high profile events and capacity building support through access to training courses and renowned experts.

The first connector of a winner and the applicant with the highest public votes in each category will also receive a cash reward of INR 10,000 and INR 15,000 respectively.

Six Emerging Indian Composers chosen for the Inaugural Mumbai Composers Lab

~The 15th Mumbai Film Festival and The Mumbai Composers Lab are proud to announce the List of Participants of the inaugural Mumbai Composers Lab~

Mumbai, October 15, 2013: Our final list was made after carefully listening to tall the applicant’s music and watching a variety of short films, trailers, ad films and other musical compositions in order to gain an idea of the abilities of the composers. We also assessed the reasoning as to why they wanted to take part in the Lab and what they felt they could get from being part of it.

Lab Director Andrew T. Mackay commented on the list saying: “We are thrilled that our final list is made up of four male composers and two female. It was a hard choice. There is obviously much talent around which made our decision making even more difficult”

1000-plus differently-enabled youth to be felicitated by NGO Blind Dreams on Children’s Day (14th Nov)

Tuesday 15th October 2013; Mumbai: Over a thousand differently-enabled, autistic, and disabled youngsters and adults between the age of 10 to 40 from all over India will be felicitated in a touching, heart-rending and soul-stirring event, on 14th November – Children’s Day in Mumbai by the NGO Blind Dreams in association with Newz66.com. The NGO and Newz66.com are in the process of raising about Rs Ten lakh in donations and sponsorship from the corporate sector to support and finance the career goals of these thousand plus youngsters.

Announcing this project on the auspicious day of Vijaya Dashami or Dussehra, blind celebrity healer and chairman of Blind Dreams, Dr Samir Mansuri said, “On 24th August this year, more than 300 blind and differently-enabled youth from all over Maharashtra participated in the western zone round of auditions for the Blind Dreams’ Talent Hunt for the disabled or differently enabled. The auditions were held at the Kamla Mehta School for the Blind at Dadar in Central Mumbai. Most participants came from far off towns and villages in Maharashtra and Gujarat. Over the last 45 days auditions were held in various cities in India and we have short-listed about 1000 talented youth who will be specially felicitated and given sponsorship and donations to help them pursue their career goals including those from the performing arts, software and financial services sector.”

The over whelming response to the Blind Dreams’ Talent Hunt for the differently enabled and visually impaired is an indication that differently enabled youth are otherwise as talented as their colleagues and sometimes even more talented in certain fields like music, singing, acting, etc. All differently enabled should come together in a show of strength to demand their rightful place in society and in the day-to-day working of organizations and corporates, Mansuri said. He spoke about the lack of support and empathy from various sectors including the police and civic agencies. He demanded that all public places, railway stations, airports, government offices, etc., should be enabled to provide the differently enabled a level playing field.

Mumbai, October 11, 2013 – Announcing its revamped new brand look today, Sony Entertainment Television reaffirmed its creative vision and content innovation. Weekly Synopsis (Mon-Thu)

Gayatri tells Abhay to stop Rajvir from going back to London in a month’s time. Rajvir plays piano for her Dadi. While Gayatri resents it, Nandini enjoys it in the process of making a banner to welcome Rajvir. Next day, Rajvir who tries to escape the crowd following him in the jogging park, takes a lift from Nandini and reaches home after an uncomfortable journey. He thanks Nandini, but leaves his watch in the helmet. Nandini comes to the party office to return the watch and hands it over to Abhay. Gayatri announces in the press conference that Rajvir is joining the party. Rajvir is shocked Ambika is furious at Gayatri, Akanksha tries to sort out the matter. Rajvir promises Gayatri that he will help with the political campaigns for the one month that he is here and at the same time, Nandini gets the PRP contract for a month as her colleague is ill. After a major accident due to bad roads, Nandini and a few colony members go to MLA yadav to invite him as chief guest to a cycle race and she has a plan.

Episode 5

Gayatri tells Abhay that we have to stop Rajvir from going back to London after a month, while Rajvir enjoys playing piano with his Dadi, who supports him in his decision to pursue his dreams as a musician. Nandini also enjoys the music clueless that it is Rajvir who is playing it, while making a banner with her own hands, to welcome Rajvir . Next morning, Rajvir is found missing and everyone is worried in the family. Meanwhile, Rajvir is jogging in the park, until he realizes he is being followed and runs to escape the crowd. He takes lift from Nandini who is on her way back from the hospital and finally reaches home safely after a very uncomfortable journey. Before Rajvir could thank Nandini properly, he sees another crowd coming towards him and rushes into the gates of his house. Rajvir tells everything to his family and Gayatri tells him never to leave the house without security. Ritu who goes hyper hearing that Rajvir sat on the scooty, is disappointed when Aanchal washes the scooty. Nandini asks Aanchal for the incentive money to pay Mishraji’s hospital bill and assures her that they will get the fridge as well. She hands over the money to her father and leaves for office when she spots Rajvir’s watch in her helmet and thinks of returning it to him.

Episode 6

Rajvir finds his lucky watch missing and tells Abhay about it. They walk together to the party office for the press conference. Meanwhile, Nandini reaches the party office to return the watch and is stopped by the guards at the gate. A party worker recognizes her and takes her in. She meets Abhay and returns the watch to him. From here, Nandini goes to her office and asks duggal for advance as she needs to buy a new fridge for her house. Press conference begins and media starts throwing question at Gayatri. Under public pressure, Gayatri announces that Rajvir will join the party and Rajvir is shocked. He is shot with questions from media. Suryamaan expresses concern regarding this, but Gayatri is very confident about what she is doing. And Abhay supports her in this. Rajvir is upset and seeing this, Ambika gets furious at Gayatri. Akanksha is perturbed.

Episode 7

Nandini and family go to electronic shop to buy a fridge where Aanchal and Ritu take time to decide on a fridge, keeping Pandeyji and Nandini waiting. Once done with the shopping, the shopkeeper tells them the fridge will be delivered to their home in 2 hours and Nandini rushes back to her office. Meanwjile, Akanksha talks to Rajvir explaining Gayatri’s circumstances under which she had to make such an announcement, and encouraging him to support his mother. Rajvir goes to speak to Gayatri and at the same time, Nandini who has just reached office, sees the PRP file at her desk and approaches her boss Duggal. Gayatri makes Rajvir promise that he will work for the party till he is here for a month, while Nandini is given the PRP campaigning project for a month as her colleague who was handling this contract, is ill. Rajvir and Nandini, both agree, half-heartedly, to be involved in political rallies for PRP for a month.

Episode 8

Fridge comes to Nandini’s house but unfortunately, due to bad roads, the handle breaks. Aanchal is upset. Later that evening, a boy named Ravi falls on one of the pot holes and suffers a spine injury. He is in excruciating pain and Doctor tells him complete bed rest for the next two months. He was supposed to give physical test in about two days for police service, but now he will have to wait another year, to his mother’s dismay. Colony members get aggressive because of the losses they have to suffer because of bad roads. Nandini calms them down and tells them that they will solve the problem but without violence. Meanwhile, Rajvir goes to his Dadi and tells her he is participating in the political campaigns. Dadi blesses him, but is worried. Nandini finally takes a step and goes to MLA Yadav’s office with a few colony people. She humbly invites the MLA to their colony to inaugurate a cycle race the same day and he agrees.
