Aditya Samanta has a close shave with life !

Whilst shooting for the track ‘Tere Bina’ for the film Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai – at the scenic locales of Zakopane in Poland – Aditya was so enraptured in enacting the whole scene, he hardly realized that he was a few feet away from the deep abyss of the heavenly location.

A unit member’s impromptu and loud cry of shout seemed to have broken the spell and saved Aditya just in the nick of time !

The whole unit including dad Ashim breathed a sign of relief.

Papa was in near tears. Also all the fawning and mooning by the entire unit left the shy guy Aditya blushing with embarrassment.

Aditya makes his debut with Nazia Hussain ( niece to Sanjay Dutt and grand niece to Nargis Dutt) in the forthcoming film Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai releasing 3rd August, 2012.

The film is a love saga based on the story of Romeo Juliet – it is a very emotional and passionate film and has all the makings of a true Samanta family banner which has given us iconic films like China Town, Howrah Bridge, Amar Prem, Aradhana, Kati Patang, Kashmir Ki Kali, Evening in Paris, Barsaat Ki Ek Raat and more…

When Colin Farrell kissed director’s wife

Forthcoming film of Sony Pictures Total Recall which releases worldwide on August 3rd stars Actor Colin Farrell, Actress Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel in the lead roles.

Actor Colin Farrell had to kiss Kate in one scene but he found it odd to kiss the actress as she also happens to be wife of Len Wiseman who is the director of the film. When asked about the incident Colin affirmed saying, “Kissing her was a bit tricky because you don’t kiss another man’s woman when he’s looking. It was one of the most uncomfortable days I’ve had on a film set and I’m so glad we didn’t get past first base in the script. But since I had no other way out, I summoned courage and accomplished the feat! Not that Len was worried, but there was a certain anxiousness in his voice when he shouted ‘Cut’.”

Rumour has it Colin has briefly dated Kate before she got married to Len. Now if this is to be believed then Kissing shouldn’t have been a task for Farrell but mere recall of the past!

The film is based on the short story of writer Philip K Dick “We can remember it for you wholesale” and is a remake of the original Total Recall released in 1990. The 1990 release Total Recall starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sharon Stone and Rachel Ticotin and was directed by Paul Verhoeven.

ndia shines in AkzoNobel’s Global Community Programme Best Practices Competition

Team India bags the First prize of Euro 30,000 for their work in creating a model sustainable farm

National, July 25, 2012: Global Headquarters of AkzoNobel, the world’s largest Paints and Coatings Company, and the leading producer of Specialty Chemicals declared India as the winner of this year’s AkzoNobel Community Program Best Practices Competition. Akzo Nobel India’s Decorative Paints, Research and Technology team at Thane, Mumbai has been recognized with a cash prize of Euro 30,000 for their innovative work in creating a model, independent and sustainable farm on a highly arid piece of land in an impoverished area in the interiors of Maharashtra.

The employees’ dedication and urge to create a ‘model farm’ by transforming a half-acre plot into a lush green site in one of Mumbai’s below-the-poverty-line village in Aaghanwadi near Badlapur, has helped them bag this year’s big prize. The Thane team worked together with the farmers from the village to replenish the arid land and create a sustainable source of income for these farmers. Akzo Nobel India’s team created a plan for a model farm supported by a water-harvesting tank. In cooperation with the Agricultural University of Mumbai and a local NGO, the end goal was to convert 150 acres of land (that was given to the farmers by the Indian government) into fertile farmland and help them with inter-farming techniques.

Asesh Sarkar, General Manager, Research & Technology Centre Decorative Paints, Akzo Nobel India said, “We at Akzo Nobel India are committed towards creating a sustainable future and our work is essentially based on our belief of working responsibly towards achieving the ultimate goal of empowerment. Our community programme is built in such a manner that the activities undertaken imbibe a sense of ownership within the employees and help develop leadership qualities. This not only helps promote entrepreneurial thinking, confidence and courage to develop new initiatives, but also increases employee integrity and responsibility.”

“The team’s hard work has set an example of how an empowered community can successfully lead a self-sufficient and a sustainable way of life. The prize money won by the Thane Decorative Paints will be ploughed back into furthering the team’s CSR efforts.”

From Peepli Live to musical Aalaap!

Forthcoming musical movie Aalaap brings back Raghubeer Yadav and Onkardas Manikpuri together again after Peepli Live. They play brother-in-laws in Shri Shankaracharya Arts’ Aalaap, directed by Manish Manikpuri.

“We saw their chemistry earlier. We needed two noted artistes to play close relative to our male protagonist Rahul. I personally think they suit the best. It was an unanimous decision to include them in the starcast,” says producer Nishant Tripathi.

Raghubeer Yadav plays a rickshaw puller and father of protagonist Rahul played by Amit Purohit. Onkardas Manikpuri is Rahul’s maternal uncle. “It’s a character-driven film. They are shown poor but idealistic in the movie,” adds Abhishek Mishra. Playing Rahul’s father, Raghubeer Yadav is poor but a lovable father who helps his son in his journey of life. “There is no better choice than him to play the role of hero’s father. Above all, Onkardas Manikpuri hails from Chhattisgarh. So, he was the easy and obvious choice for us,” avers director Manish Manikpuri. As Aalaap is all set to release on July 27, the public awaits another interesting product of passion to hit the marquee. Interestingly, Murali Sharma essays a very challenging role in the film while Abhimanyu Singh excels in the role of a fearless cop who takes on the challenging task of combating naxalism.

When the money of an idealistic British traveler disappears in a nouveau-riche South Delhi home, the staff of the household are given twenty-four hours to replace it or face the consequences.

Synopsis

Having risen from relative obscurity to obscene wealth through a series of nefarious import/export deals, the Bhatia family reside in a palatial mansion in South Delhi. Mukund (Kulbhushan Kharbanda), jovial patriarch of the family, struggles to balance the demands of a successful career with the continually expanding needs of his pampered family. Kalpana (Lillete Dubey), his boisterous and sharp-tongued wife of 30 odd years, commands an over-staffed and disorderly team of servants, comprised of: Rohini (Anjali Patil), a nineteen year old girl who dreams of stardom in Mumbai; Udai-Singh (Dinesh Yadav), the semi-alcoholic cook eager to prove his talents in world cuisine; Chottu (Arun Mallick), an over-excitable and effeminate butler of sorts; Venkat and Nataraj, two meek South Indian drivers who are overwhelmed by life in Delhi; and Raghu (Vidya Bhushan), who has practically helped raise Jai and Madhu, Kalpana’s teenage kids, over the last two decades.

When Jasper (Lee Williams), the idealistic son of an important British business associate, arrives in Delhi to begin a tour of India he is quickly overwhelmed by the sights and sounds of the city as well as the contradictions and nuances of the colorful manner in which his hosts, the Bhatias, conduct their lives . As he is drawn into household dynamics, he slowly begins to find his presence has upset the natural order of things and that his first day in Delhi might just prove to be more than he bargained for.

“Delhi In A Day” is a comedic portrayal of upper-class Delhi society, examining class differences in the context of a nouveau-riche, contemporary Delhi family home.
