Vidya Balan bags the Critics Choice Awards for Kahaani.

Powerhouse performer,actress Vidya Balan ,started the year with a bang as she bagged her first award for the season ,The Best Actress (Critics Choice) for Kahaani ,which also won the Best Film (critics), Best Director (critics), Best Story and Best editing.

Lauded for her portrayal of Vidya Bagchi, a pregnant woman in search of her missing husband in the city of Kolkata during the Durga Puja festivities,Balan walked away with the honors which will see its telecast January 20th at 8PM IST.

The award came as no surprise especially since the critics were all praise for the actress ever since the thriller released.

Said acclaimed critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh , “Post The Dirty Picture, the admiration for the National Award winning actress Vidya has scaled woozy altitudes and let me affirm, the supremely talented actress delivers a performance that’s at par with her former accomplishments.”

Said Madhureeta Mukherjee Zoom, “Once again, a ‘pregnant’ Vidya, ironically displays more ‘male ornaments’ (excuse the watering down) than most heroes.”

The Race to promote Race 2.

It came as no surprise that
much before the film hit the floors, Race 2 was flooded with association and in-film offers from over 15 brands, thanks to its huge ensemble starcast that boasts of names like John Abraham,Saif Ali Khan , Deepika Padukone,Anil Kapoor and Jacqueline.

And while huge names like Audi,Van Huesen and Tanishq came on board, the film’s marketing and promotions ascend to an all time high,with the starcast going all out to promote Race 2 as the film readies for its release.

PRO-turned-film Director Harish Sharma is chosen to direct a calendar for 2013 & video with Best Football Player of the World 2011-12, Andres Iniesta of Spain on 9th January.

“Yes,”, says Harish Sharma, “after seeing some of my film’s scenes Rajbir Singh M.D, Delhi based company Aska Beverages Pvt Ltd has asked me to plan and direct their calendar which is a fascinating combination of sports, glamour and wine.”

Andres Iniesta is a Spanish football player who plays as a central mid fielder for La Liga club FC Barcelona & the Spanish national team. In the 2010 FIFA World Cup, being a part of the victorious Spanish side, he scored the winning goal in the final against the Netherlands. He was named Man of The Match and was selected in the tournament’s All Star Team. He was also the Man of the Match for two other World Cup games. Following Spain’s victory in the UEFA Euro 2012, Iniesta was selected by the UEFA panel as Player of the Tournament. He went on to win UEFA Best Player in Europe Award for the 2011–2012 seasons. He is the most prominent player of Spanish National Team. Recently, Iniesta has been nominated for the prestigious 2012 FIFA Ballon d’Or award along with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. It means undoubtedly whoever wins this title but these players are the world’s top three players.

“It took Andres 6 months to spare 3/4 hours for the shoot due to indispensable playing schedule, finally scheduling 9th January for the shoot. The model-actress chosen for Photo shoot with Andres is India based German model Claudia Ciesla. Apart from shooting with Andres, I will shoot Claudia’s solo to add the oomph factor to the calendar.”

Crime Patrol Special epiosde on Delhi Gang rape case

This weekend Crime Patrol brings to you yet another heart-wrenching story which created a burning sensation among all Indians. Our capital city, New Delhi, now a days most popularly known as rape capital of the nation, is again in limelight after the Gang rape case of a 23 years old girl. The young girl was beaten and gang raped on a chilly winter evening last year. She died thirteen days later while undergoing emergency treatment in abroad for brain and gastrointestinal damage from the assault.

One fine evening, she and her friend boarded a private bus, thinking it was a public bus. The only other passengers were five men who were friends of the driver, who then assaulted the pair.

Deeply traumatized with this incident, creative director of the show Mr. S. Subramanian said, “We need to keep the flame of the candles of millions of Indians burning. The anger cannot just subside. Not until there is a deterrent to this malaise. We need to tell the ones whom we have elected to decide for the better of the nation and its citizens, we cannot forget and we will not forget. Crime Patrol promises to keep this fire of anguish, this cry for justice alive.”

The young woman’s ordeal appears to have inspired a massive amount of self-reflection in India with respect to how women and girls are treated. The death of the girl has sparked a new wave of peaceful protests across India.

Intense anchor Anup Soni said, “We want citizen of India to get aware about the rape and molestation cases which happens daily with the females, which are not even registered in the police files. Two things on which people should think through this episode. Firstly government of India should have to make strict rules for criminals so that before committing such crimes, there has to be a fear in their mind. Secondly, change has to come from an individual. Everyone should have to respect women of their own house”.

Diljit Dosanjh is a versatile actor and singer and his upcoming movie “Saadi Love Story” is set to be released on 11th January. An eminent name in Punjabi film industry Diljit is a passionate singer and a trend setter. His album Dil was a smashing hit and it initiated the trend of dancing numbers with his hit Punjabi tracks. Taking his talent a step ahead he tried his luck in acting. Diljit proved once again that talent transcends borders and came across as an epitome of talent delivering films like Mel Karade Rabba (Cameo), The Lion of Punjab, Jihne Mera Dil Luteya, Jatt & Juliet as an actor. Diljit spoke to us about his next Punjabi flick “Saadi Love Story”, following are a few excerpts-

Tell us something about the film.

The film is made under the banner of Eros International and Jimmy Sheirgill Productions. It is a romantic comedy and the story revolves around a girl named Preeti who is waiting for her Prince charming. But to her surprise not one but two guys are standing at her doorstep claiming to be her prince charming. The film is about the dilemma that Preeti is in. Comedy ensues thereafter.

What is your character in the film?

I’m one of the guys who arrive at Preeti’s house claiming to be her life partner.

How was the experience of working with Debutant director Dheeraj Rattan?

Dheeraj is a very intellectual man and knows what he is doing. This might be his first movie as a director but he has done many films as writer previously. Working with Dheeraj was great and I would say that he going to leave a mark as a director.

You are once again working with Jimmy, how does it feel?

I have worked with Jimmy in Mel Karade Rabba, though it was only a cameo but since then I have known Jimmy and he is professional when it comes to work and a great person to work with.

How was the chemistry between you and Surveen Chawla?

Surveen is a very good actor and working with her was my pleasure. Surveen is the kind of girl who will give her 100% to whatever she does and this on the other hand gives the other stars the motivation to work harder.

Tell us something about other co-stars.

The star cast of the film includes Surveen Chawla, me, Amrinder Gill and Neetu Singh. We all had a great time during the shoot.

Being a singer, what do you think about the music of the film?

The music of the film will make you groove to its beat. Jaidev has composed the music and the songs of the film are sung by Kunal Ganjawala, Sumitra Iyyer, Navraj Hans, Amrinder Gill, I and Lehmber Hussainpuri.

What, according to you, is the crowd pulling X factor of this film?

Life is full of worries but when you need recreation you go to the movie hall for entertainment. This film is that, plus you will laugh your heart out and forget about your worries for at least few hours. It’s a very sweet and simple love story with lots of humor.
