3rd Edition of JK Tyre – Constitution Club of India Parliamentarian Car Rally concludes successfully

~Parliamentarians, diplomats, media and others advocate the cause of road safety~

New Delhi, December 8, 2012: The third edition of the JK Tyre – Constitution Club of India Parliamentarian Car Rally flagged-off by the Hon’ble Vice-President of India, Shri Hamid Ansari with Shri Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State – Youth Affairs & Sports in presence, culminated successfully today. This edition of the event had road safety as the core theme and was held in the memory of parliamentarians who lost their lives in road accidents. Also, present for the flag-off were Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Vice-Chairman & Managing Director, JK Tyre & Industries Limited and Karun Chandhok, India’s youngest Formula One driver & JK Tyre brand ambassador.

The event witnessed over 80 participating teams including 25 parliamentarians, diplomats, media, PSUs and armed forces personnel go around Delhi on a 37.5-km route in a Time, Speed, Distance (TSD) format car rally. Some of the prominent parliamentarians, who participated in the rally, include Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Shri Naveen Jindal, Shri Tarun Vijay, Dr. Sanjay Singh and Shri Thomas Sangma. The two-hour rally was a family affair with the spouses and children of many participants infusing a lot of energy and excitement to make it a success.

The winners were felicitated at the prize distribution ceremony presided by Dr. C P Joshi, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport & Highways. The glittering gala had a number of parliamentarians and special invitees including Shri V P Singh Badnore, Shri R P N Singh, Shri Anurag Thakur, Mrs. Kiron Kher among others. The event also featured a scintillating act by pop diva and performer Anushka Manchanda, who entertained the attendees with a mix of musical and dance performance.

In keeping with the theme of ‘Road Safety’, a short film on the topic was unveiled and dedicated to Late Shri Rajesh Pilot, Late Shri Sahib Singh Verma, Late Shri Yerran Naidu, Late Shri Dayanand Sahay, Late Shri Mahendra Singh Bhati, Late Shri Munawwar Hasan, Late Dr Shrikant Jichkar, and Late Shri Abrar Ahmed – all of these parliamentarians lost their lives in fatal road accidents.

Several of our distinguished parliamentarian colleagues have tragically lost their lives in road accidents. The JK Tyre constitution Club of India Parliamentarian Car Rally underlines the importance of driving safely and also fondly remembers our late parliamentarian colleagues whom we lost prematurely.”

Greater Noida, 8th December 2012: At the 2012 Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Prize Giving Gala held in Istanbul, Turkey on Dec 7th, Mr Sameer Gaur, MD & CEO, Jaypee Sports International Limited (JPSI) won the “BEST F1 RACE PROMOTER” award for the second year in a row. The FIA award recognizes JPSI’s hard work to make India a proud host of Formula One with the state of the art, Buddh International Circuit (BIC).

On winning the prestigious trophy for the second year, Mr Sameer Gaur, Managing Director and CEO of Jaypee Sports International said “This is indeed a very proud moment and I am honoured to receive this FIA award for the second time on behalf of my entire team and the country, whose support and enthusiasm was responsible for us to win this award again. This award will motivate us to host a grandeur F1 Indian Grand Prix next year and we would hopefully be able to complete a hat-trick of the award.”

The FIA Prize Giving Gala is organized every year to honour all those who make outstanding contribution to promote motorsports world-wide.

Mr. Farhan Vohra, in-charge of race operations at the Buddh International Circuit, was also recognised by the FIA as the ‘Best Clerk of the Course’ for the year 2012. As a Clerk of the Course (COC), Mr. Vohra had the important responsibility of managing race operations and race control at the BIC during the first two editions of F1 Indian Grand Prix. Previously, he has also been a steward at the Singapore, Abu Dhabi and Germany F1 races, and is the only Indian accredited by the FIA to be a Steward and a Clerk at an F1 race.

Mr. Farhan Vohra, Race Operations in-charge and Clerk of the Course, Buddh International Circuit said, “I am honoured with this recognition, which could not have been possible without the efforts of entire JPSI team that helped ensure a smooth Indian Grand Prix for the second year running. We had made some changes to the track, leading up to the second Indian Grand Prix, but to think that we were able to achieve greater heights than last year, as the recognition signifies, is a testimony to how much more Buddh International Circuit can offer to motor racing.”

This award marks the second year running of BIC’s recognition as a world class motorsport facility. The Circuit and Mr Sameer Gaur had got over a dozen national and international awards last year as well.

The Taj Hotel’s pays its tribute, to 100 years of Indian Cinema by launching the cinema suite at Taj’s 51 Buckingham Gate, London. The suite hosted its maiden guest Bollywood’s legend Amitabh Bachchan on December 6th, 2012.

The suite is created by acclaimed Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. It takes its inspiration from motion pictures across the world. Veteran Naseeruddin Shah looks forward to Ali Zafar’s Chashme Baddoor

Actor/Singer/Musician Ali Zafar was elated as he heard the news of Naseeruddin Shah traveling with his plays based on Ismat Chugtai’s work to Lahore.The actor who was to travel on work ,made a delay to ensure he was part of the audience to watch Naseer perform live.

Divulges Ali, “I delayed my travel plans just to be present for Naseersaab’s performance…I am a huge fan but never got the opportunity to see him live in his plays….. I admire his passion for his art and the fact that he had come specially to perform Ismat Chughtai’s works, proceeds and donations of which will go to support the museum, library and other activities.”

While Ali gave the veteran a standing ovation after his superlative performance, the two spoke at length about Ali’s forthcoming Chashme Baddoor ,and also praised Ali’s acting prowess –

Says a source “Naseersaab told Ali he was looking forward to watch Chashme Baddoor since the original is one of his favorite films…the two also spoke about a Bollywood project they have been approached for”.


Remo directs Paresh Rawal in Table No 21’s promotional video

The personalities of the characters are inspired by real life Indian families that each of us can relate to. Farida Jalal is a Social Butterfly Dadi – she is young at heart and does everything unexpected from a typical grandmother. Boman, the elder son of the family is a Chupa Rustam. While he is afraid of his loving yet dominating wife like most of us, he manages to humor everybody and do things he likes right under everybody’s nose. Ramya on the other hand plays the Perfect Bhabhi, a perfection obsessed elder Bahu who bosses over her husband. A south Indian by upbringing and dotes on the twisted quirks of her new Punjabi family. Their son, a Bhukkad, is one of the biggest fans of Kurkure and never leaves an opportunity to gobble mouthfuls whenever he sees a pack open around him.

Kunal is the younger son of the family, a Bollywood Banker – an actor at heart but caught in a wrong job of a being banker. He is ever ready to break into a Bollywood act, whether it’s a dialogue or a dance sequence. And Parineeti Chopra, his wife, is the Bahu Remix – an anchor of the family, she is the modern bahu but still respects traditions. She personifies today’s bahus who are the harbinger of change in Indian families.
